  1. My advice is if you can’t find a band to join then create a new one and look firstly for a guitarist next drummer and finally a singer Takes some doing but rewarding when it’s complete and you can control what happens
  2. My HB wireless system arrived today from Thomann I went for the Airborne Pro 5.8ghz version Foot tuner built in which works well Granted its not the most robust design but if you look after your gear this would work and last just fine Great design and ability to charge the transmitter in the docking place is a well thought out idea
  3. You may have seen my Finger Tone club and Pick Tone club Now here is a dilemma You play rock mostly You can play bass equally well with fingers or pick You would prefer to stick to one of them for consistent sound EQ etc Which one do you go for and why ? It really is tough deciding and I love both methods for different reasons I can get the speed and sound from both methods There is only one guitar and loud drums to compete with in terms of sitting correctly in the mix I play a Fender PBass that works well for both with roundwounds oh the dilemma 😂
  4. Yep two of those cabs makes a great rig .. well done Welcome to the RM club 👍
  5. Does this head have a pre amp tube ? If so maybe faulty Alternative and loud is Orange Little Bass Thing 500W head .. superb as is Ashdown RM heads
  6. I’m enjoying playing finger style again Decided next rehearsal it’s without Pick ! Set amp up again to suit the difference in EQ and will see how it compliments the guitar drums etc
  7. I like the more rounded tone from fingers I think it also depends on the type of band you play in and music and number of other rythmn instruments etc
  8. Yes I think it was called Deep instead of Compact ? they have also gone away from the round handles that folks complained were uncomfortable to carry ?
  9. Were the older Ashdown 210 cabs 500w rated ?
  10. I live an hour away from Ashdown !! The Neo cabs are small and don’t have the thump compared to the older cabs However they are half the weight I can carry both cabs at the same time ( one in each hand ) Mine have the tweeter and I too use a PBass with a pick ( !!! ) and for rock they seem ok, maybe lack the real low end thump perhaps
  11. Are they the newer Pro Neo cabs from Ashdown or the older Ported ABM series with standard speakers ?
  12. Yep I do that too ! To be fair the Ashdown cabs are great, not the best but certainly adequate for the job. When I have the funds I may be tempted as I’ve always fancied a 4ohm 212 cab that isn’t too heavy !
  13. Ashdown RM800 EVO II Orange Little Bass Thing
  14. Yes I like the Ashdown cabs .. light and small sealed cabs Yep I have two of the new Pro Neo 210 cabs I do wonder if a larger cab with 12” drivers would have more thump and depth if that makes sense This is all for non PA support in my band playing rock medium size U.K. venues
  15. Thanks that makes sense .. the two Ashdown cabs are loud enough for what I need right now. Probably equivalent to running a 4x10 so two cabs should be ample really. I don’t need higher volume so maybe it’s not a necessity to upgrade at all !
  16. Question .. would a BF SuperTwin blow my new Ashdown ABM 210 Pro Neo cabs x 2 away ? Just curious if the BF is a fuller deeper sounding cab that would handle a 500w or larger amp and better suited to rock ? Huge price ticket so interested to know if really that much better than say £350 each Ashdown cabs ?
  17. Following on from my post The Pick Club I thought I would post a Finger Tone Club ! The tone from fingers instead of a plectrum or pick is very different and near on impossible to mimic with a pick. The tone is warmer, fuller and contains lower bass tones The physical connection to the bass is greater and that has advantages in feel We are lucky to have many techniques available to us .. I love the pick sound for rock but miss the connection and full ( depth ) to the tone What about you guys ?
  18. My preferred pick
  19. I play mostly rock, indie, punk and find I can play all songs with fingers fine but I’m in a band with one guitarist and I need to be a bit more up front as a bassist hence why I find the pick the better choice for this
  20. I now play 100% pick after playing fingers Who else is part of the all or mostly pick playing bass I have so many types of picks now too Can’t beat the punch and focused tones in my opinion
  21. What is the typical going rate for a four piece band to charge at a typical medium sized pub gig ? I know it’s all variable but interested in what a typical good covers band will get roughly
  22. I’ve just ordered the HB Airborne Pro system as I needed a tuner too Hope that works with bass !! I assume the power adaptor is EU so I can use my U.K. 1Spot I already have
  23. Have you gigged yours ?
  24. Isn’t there a question about 5.8 not being a legal frequency band in the U.K. ? Im sure someone mentioned that on here recently?
  25. Just purchased the Lekato WS-80 2.4ghz wireless for £33 new ! They work very well indeed and I no longer have to trip myself up with my lead !
