  1. I’m the opposite tone with a pick is very much my goal to make it punchy and full sounding / a cross of finger fullness and pick drive tone. I can do both methods and prefer to set my amp to sound the best with a pick. Playing rock in a single guitar band requires the bass to be present full and driving
  2. Oh yes of course unless you isolate the amp but I guess he has considered that simple solution.
  3. If I’m right doesn’t a DI from an amp with a fan not pick up any fan noise ? So I would not limit yourself and get something with a decent bit of power such as 500w class D head from Eich, MarkBass, Genzler etc etc
  4. No not too flexible due to the design and the material produces a warmer tone
  5. Yes Magellan amps are quiet and neutral sounding if you want it Build quality is awesome too
  6. The V4B is very nice too 😉
  7. I have the MarkBass LM IV and with the newer 58R series lightweight cabs it sounds very transparent Older MarkBass cabs sounded woolly to me or dark perhaps in tone. I’ve had EICH T900 and TE1200 and the LM IV is as good in tone and can go warm / vintage with the old school control
  8. Not easy to source but found some on EBay
  9. I just had these arrive and I’m very pleased how they feel and sound Warm full and punchy is how I would describe them and the little dish recess where your thumb sits ( feels odd at first ) seems to add to the tone as does the Delrin material
  10. Have you tried it in a different electrical socket ? Mains hum perhaps ? Presumably it makes that noise with no input ?
  11. Why is it you don’t hear much about these amps ? Have they been a flop ?
  12. Yep there’s a careful technique getting them out ( a pick sometimes works ) I gave some spares I think, Ashdown sent them and they are happy for users to swop valves etc and it doesn’t affect your warranty
  13. Yes that seems to be the direction folk are going Many heavier cabs sold off and a few amps but not so many bread and butter brands in class D Ashdown Ampeg Orange GK MarkBass
  14. Seen many cabs for sale in the BC classifieds but so few amps Is this a trend ?
  15. My new ABM600 when I got one had a slight noise ( had a new valve from stock ) Swopped it for a another JJ ECC83 and the problem went away
  16. Preamp valve perhaps ?
  17. JJ pre amp tube ECC83
  18. Nothing worse staying in the wrong band ! Tell them asap and move on
  19. If they are as awful as the Debut guitar version avoid !
  20. And if you plug straight into the fx return do you hear anything ? That will check the power amp section is good
  21. Pop a lead in the send / return loop Push in and out a few times then leave it in ie send to return bridged that will fix it perhaps ?
  22. I had used Vanderkley too although the new MB58 series cabs are in my opinion much clearer sounding than some older MarkBass cabs
  23. Andertons are great however they don’t like too many returns as sometimes they end up as B stock items I have had my share of goods and returns and their service is awesome but be careful of sending too many items back as they do react after a while
  24. Good choice and top tip the RM has a speaker defeat headphone button on the rear. Caused many worried owners to think the amp was dead !!
  25. Yep good idea TE Elf is very good but may struggle into only 8ohms ?
