I ordered my amp from Bass Direct on Friday and it arrived DHL today .. excellent service

Set 2 looks better if I’m totally honest but that’s my musical tastes etc My only comment is not to diversify too much with the genres and maybe lean in a particular direction ie dance, soul, funk, rock, etc That makes getting bookings easier I find if you can market yourselves as a “…” covers band

I don’t think it’s only covers bands that use their own PA Depends on the venues and how low down the music train you are as many original acts do start in pubs and using their own PA Youre right if you are an established originals act then house or venue PA and sound engineer would be normal but that’s a totally different bag of chips !

I was very anti pedals a few years back but then again I did gig an SVT CL head ! More recently I’ve seen advantages such as inline tuner, Wireless ( Shure ) compressor pedal and that’s about it. I do wonder when I see folk post on here huge boards with many effects pedals as to the point do they actually hear the original bass tone anymore? I like to hear my bass sound as it was designed ( mostly ) with very minimal EQ adjustments or tweaks I still avoid multi FX for all live work but I see ampless being the future for younger players assuming bands invest in a decent PA rig

When I asked Ashdown some years back if the ABM300 would be loud enough in a loud band they said it may struggle Yet the TE ELF 200w little amp will keep up ! Like others it would have to be the ABM600 for band use I feel

I gig my ABM600 into a 4ohm cab and volume is around 10 o’clock and we are a loud band ! I find an external compressor pedal helps get more volume out of it without pounding the input too hard

And some folk complain about a £500 wireless system!! 🤣

I have a policy of Keep the ABM600 as my main amp Try different amps and if I decide there is something new I would like try I tend to sell one to buy the other ! Last three years I’ve purchased a lot of new amps !

I love my TH700 amp as an amp as close to a valve amp tone but I’ve decided to move mine on ( as new ) and fund a new amp for a different band requirement ( cleaner tone )

I’ve got the MG800 incoming !! What’s the general consensus of these amps ?

Mine was under normal operation and after receiving three units I assumed it was a design flaw of the pedal. It was only when the compression was releasing on a long note you could hear it clearly. Fast notes never

Does it make a crackle noise when the LED changes colour ? I had three new units this year and all did the same .. you really have to listen but it’s there 😞

Decided against the EBS pedal as my TC Spark Booster doing a good job I think

I’ve just ordered the EBS BS ultimate pedal to try and I’m liking the reviews etc It does have some great features too Whats the compressor like as I could take my Ampeg Opto comp off if it’s ok ??
