  1. With the trend to go smaller or certainly lighter are we seeing cabs that are lacking in low end depth as a sacrifice to weight ? Not referring to the high end stuff but the everyday offerings from manufacturers Point in case is the cab up for sale on here large heavy 212 600w 4ohm cab which I would imagine would be a lot fuller than my two small Neo Ashdown cabs ? Thoughts ?
  2. Tempting but still too high in price for me ( ps I’m in Suffolk so could collect ) Been looking for a larger cab recently
  3. I would say it’s faulty !!
  4. I’m also running things and don’t mind it really if I find the right people This is probably my tenth band and my very last !!
  5. Is it a PBass or bass with normal pickguard ? they pickup static and make a crack sound when your fingers touch it Shouldn’t be very loud though
  6. So my old “new” band split due to job changes and the usual issues New function party band plan isn’t happening either !! one last try to put my rock covers band together as soon as I find a decent drummer in Suffolk So few musicians around, lack of good singers and drummers making it near on impossible to form a band !! If this is the future then it’s likely all my gear will be sold off and I will pack it all in … so frustrating grrrr
  7. What about an open circuit in the failed cable so in effect no cab connected to the amp That would fry a valve amp as no load connected which is a no no
  8. I think normally the 210 can would suffice … but depends on your style of playing and loudness of fellow band members Last week my RM800 using two 210 cabs was buried at an audition with very loud hitting drummer and Marshall 4x12 guitarist I felt then my rig was under powered but of course it’s not ! Buying again however I would get the biggest and highest wattage second hand cab you can find, may even be a heavy beast but it will have a full sound .. TE, Peavey, Laney etc do fair priced heavyweights
  9. Yep you cooked the guitar lead as they handle very small currents. I use 2.5mm conductor speakons to handle my RM800 Sounds like you got away with it and it shut down as cable probably failed If this was a valve amp it would now be toast so think yourself very lucky !!
  10. Some great songs guys thank you .. especially the rockier sounding ones
  11. Love it that fits in perfectly
  12. Hey guys .. I’m starting up a new function party band with a lean towards rock and pop with a flavour of R & B and I need song suggestions for a mostly guitar based band with female vocals. At present I have Zombie You Oughta Know Weak Take me Down Hard to Handle Moves like Jagger Get Lucky Play that Funky Music Long train running Learn to fly Hot Stuff Chasing cars Dakota Sex on Fire Any suggestions for good songs to add for a mostly modern party setlist ?
  13. In this situation I would of gone guitar lead straight into ABM600 to check amp lead and bass we’re working as should Matter of quick elimination
  14. I agree .. anyway lesson learnt play with a quieter band me thinks
  15. This is very true … in this instance he was running a heavily processed multi fx in front of his amp and that didn’t help matters in EQ terms ..
  16. Yes it is
  17. Definitely too loud but guitar cab too bassy and with the loud kick drum I was buried
  18. I had both my Ashdown cabs stacked on top of each other ( they have diagonal spaced cones per cab )
  19. Cheers Lozz .. definitely liked the guys and the music and it took me back to an earlier loud band I gigged with but then I had Ampeg SVT CL head and 610 cab and nothing buried it !! Yep I declined gracefully as I’m now ready to look at function band setups with a rocky vibe with pop and r&b thrown in. Time to learn new songs me thinks and save my ears !!
  20. Had an audition recently with a rock band and I took both my 210 cabs and RM800 head Nice guys but very loud, really hard hitting drummer and guitarist using a Marshall 412 cab with 100w valve head also loud. Great sound but I found myself absolutely buried and the bass was swamped with the drums and guitar Tried adding more mids, didn’t help, more volume didn’t help either !! It really surprised me that the rig I was using felt so weak in comparison !! Must of been the loudest audition ever for me but the enjoyment of not hearing any finesse in my playing made me think about what I really want or should be playing ??? Something less loud and more easy listening!!
  21. Definitely start up a new band and JMB isn’t that bad but you need your idiot radar running to filter out the time wasters ! When you find a singer without PA go to rehearsal rooms as they provide a PA as part of the room hire
  22. The older ported cabs were / are heavier .. these have Neo Speakers making the cab light and they are a sealed cab too
  23. These two are light and single handed carry I think 15kg each stacked on top or side by side or used on their own all works
  24. I’m liking this set up, perhaps not the usual way to place two cabs but they both enjoy connection with the ground and sound good. Orange Little Bass Thing sounds good too with this rig, all set for pick playing so deep and punchy for good rock sound with a PBass
  25. Shape in and fingers add loads of mids as you will be buried Pick less so due to the brightness of pick playing
