1.
I wouldn't like to be in that band if they're playing around Glasgow or west central Scotland.
my sediments exactly Someone hit the nail on the head earlier. Its much more than just a case of buying and selling like Egay and Ebygumtree. Its a place where you can get to know people, have a laugh, have a debate, get pi**ed. In reality, its everything you'd do in real life. I've yet to go down the pub with a 'chatter' but then that's what the Moffat bassbash is for.
2. is there such a thing as 'best'? Its all down to what you like and if you think its amazing then I am genuinly happy for you cos its likely that listening to it may very well improve your own playing. That is when you're not changing your avatar every 5 minutes I have deja vu cos what I am about to type next I'm sure I've already posted but - what we hear of all of these virtuosos is the widdly boring stuff on youtube. You never hear the meat and potatoes lines that these musicians play regularly which makes a lot of people think that these guys are widdly frustrated guitarists
3. I remember gigging one of those 2 Cool 4 School basses from the seller of the same name on Ebay in the US. I only had EB Power Slinkies so I put them on before the gig. When I took the bass out of the bag the neck was like a banana. Amazingly, I was able to adjust the truss rod enough to get it straight again without it trying to appear through the back of the neck I think they're £40 or something like that. this was way before those £52 NU something or other ones on UK Ebay. In fact it was when I was waiting for my gold Warmoth to come from the US If it can be adjusted, it can be gigged.
4. I start and stop during random parts of songs and often tap my foot on the off beat. I've even been known to do a heel - toe tap as well although that's usually well into a gig when my dogs are barking
5. The only instance when you may need something else is if your bass is rear routed but you can buy prewired EMG pots with longer shafts if need be.
6. I've fitted wheels to almost every cab I've owned and never had them fail on me. There's no point in the screw being longer than the thickness of the wood that you are screwing into. Just use the appropriate one for the type of wood and I find the widest, coarsest thread, the better. the downside as pointed out above is that it adds extra weight. I now use a lightweight trolley for all my stuff now. Anything to keep the weight down
7. If you go to page 3 and look at the picture of the inputs at the right hand side it says Made and designed in the UK. Looks like the entire range is as well. 8. IBTL, I mean TIM
9. I'm not even going to try and add up what I've bought, sold or traded since I joined. Its a lot anyway. I love these threads. laughs aplenty. but remember kids a troll is not just for christmas
10. You rely on what? Bye? Was it something we said?
11.
Imagein a 7 string each string a different colour!
What, like this only neon?
12. at the opposite end of the price scale, my Washburn XB126 which was my first 6 string was very light I managed to pick it up new as an end of line item from Dolphin for £120
13. Once I get the payment for the cab I have just sold I'm going to be buying one of these. I have the Christmas party nights coming up so I'll probably post here when I get it, after the first gig and at the beginning of next year once I have done a few and the honeymoon period is over. If Its as good as it sounds on paper then I'll be buying a second at that point, if not then offers please
14.
Did you win them?!
my first thought as well but I don;t think it gets drawn until January or something like that I'm still in with a chance
15. well that was my plan as well. Use 1 as a monitor for the wedding band and have a second one to use with the rock band. They've been getting some good reviews on Talkbs but they ain't for the hifi mob apparently. Meant to sound really rocky and aggressive which suits me down to the ground. Thought I'd check here first before going for it.
16. just to clarify that none of the above was directed at me
17. going to bump this as I am contemplating this cab as well ply constuction and Celestion neo driver for £237
18. I've been using two of these as a monitor in my wedding band - its big and its clever
19.
I've got to say that trying it out triggered all this process of getting rid of cabs I don't really like anymore. Surprisingly, I still have the cheapo ashdown 4x10 and actually like it!
All the more reason to get a second one Actually, I was amazed at how good they are.
20. I've got a matching Mag 410" for sale - its a perfect match and a maneuverable 8x10" rig
21. Wenge is very fast to play and when it gets gunky you just run some steel wool up and down it and its really smooth again I had a wenge neck on my gold Warmoth
22. Maybe the price includes first class air fare for the seller to personally hand deliver it to the new owner and the £30 is to cover his lunch?
23. £1? If this amp had TC Electronic or whatever the flavour of the month is then it would've gone ages ago. GK have been making quality amps since the late 60s for working musicians at a realistic price.
24. amazing basses, such a fantastic sound from these. er, your bridge cover is on the wrong way though
