  1. Found on Gumtree. Anyone know the maker or anything about this. Quality, build etc Is it woth a punt or firewood? Please view this ad: B/ bass guitar , https://www.gumtree.com/p/for-sale/b-bass-guitar/1454299922 Price: £ 99 Download the application from the Google Play Store. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.gumtree.android
  2. There is a Bryce 5 string fretless on Gumtree for £99. I believe in Hertfordshire. It has been on there for some while but was recently relisted so maybe it might help you out while you look for your hearts desire. Some people love them. I inquired on here recently as to what it was so somewhere on here is maybe some photos of it.
  3. I have a bitza fretless jazz already so the P to cover the slow and powerful groove territory is interesting. That bass may have been a cheapy in its day but the passive pup measures about 13.5k. The highest passive I have and it does bark! I have no idea if its original or not or a rewind or such like but I am not looking to replace it let alone part with it. One thing I would say about the body is if you want a very shiny gloss natural finish it's for you. If you want to do a colour on it or an oiled finish I hate to think of the work involved to strip that gloss off.
  4. I ran into an issue with fret buzz at the headstock end. I am having to level them all and they are already quite low from it's previous life. It may end up being a refret or maybe a defret job. My preferred option is the defret if necessary. I quite like the idea of a fretless P.
  5. |Sorry got that totally wrong name wise lidl e made that post his suggestion about end grain boards
  6. I had about 60 pieces between 6 to 8 ft long and 4x12 to 13 inches wide GUTTED
  7. Ten quid a piece to a wood turner in a fancy diy or wood turning shop. Mykesbass is spot on. Fresh pair of eyes is gold dust
  8. Lovely job Mick. Well worth the effort and all fits the same theme. Looks good outside laying in the grass as well "Thea fetch the stick" 🙂
  9. Example of Khaya wild grain and colour last bit I have from a whole double sized pallet I had to sell quickly when I moved home 😭
  10. Oak is popular but not as durable for outside applications as other timbers. African mahogany, Teak or Oroko all outlast it without too much treatment. There are many others. Looking up a list of durable timbers will give you an idea of the durability of what is out there. 😀
  11. I also noticed your wifes choice of reading matter. I did like both the blue and the green but loved the gold & brown sample piece the most. It seemed to bring out that grain the best to my eyes. Lovely bass 😃
  12. I saw this on gumtree and fleabay. Anyone got an idea what USA company that neck serial number might come from?
  13. There is a send offer button "would you like me to burn it for you?"😁
  14. I trust it not. Old pitted hardware on what looks like an unplayed newly built body. How can that neck plate be pitted like that without a scratch or ding on the body and neck? Some of the other of their listings seem to stretch the imagination as well. Maybe they buy some of this stuff in good faith from rogues. Anyone recognise what make that pickup is? They don't seem to mention it or did I miss something?
  15. Zippo are one of the most faked items on ebay etc.🤔
  16. Do you still have these and have they been cut? What were they fitted to?
  17. Update. The neck pocket was cut to a taper being 63.5 mm at the widest part. The Honer neck was also cut to a taper at about .6 mm wider than that. I didn't want to plane down the neck so after some considerable time in thought gently planed and scrapped the short side of the pocket with a nice sharp chisel. About 10 mins work. These come without bolt holes so not wanting to fill the existing holes in the neck I opted to resort to the art of cheating. This involves a tightish fitting sawn of screw being put into the holes in the neck and being used as a dot marker. The holes can then be pilot drilled from inside the neck pocket and finnished from the other side. Warning. It has to be a pilot hole from the inside as the lacquer will crack around the holes as the drill bit comes through. Masking tape on it first may help. Using a drill press is a good idea if you are not sure how straight you can drill. One of the reasons for this palava was because the existing holes in the neck were not quite right from the start. I could have used a wooden chop stick etc and made dowels/plugs but didn't want to take more material out of the heel of the neck so opted to go with the existing holes. The supervisor was watchingT
  18. Difficult to tell but with that wild grain it could be Kuhaya if I'm spelling it right.
  19. The Ash P bass body in gloss natural finish. It's made from 4 pieces but the finish it better than some lower end guitars I have seen and for £49.99 plus shipping I am happy with what arrived. No dings, scratches or other nasties. Neck pocket and cavities cut nicely and neatly. It does need its bridge hole drilling through but I have a drill bit for that somewhere that I made years ago. Ordered yesterday and arrived this afternoon. Happy with that. When I ordered it they had 20 in stock
  20. Just had a weigh of the stripped mdf Honer body . The digital fishing scale says 6 lb 11 oz on its own all metalwork Pickups etc off.
