1. I can only manage a two hour rehearsal...six hours, you are a super star best of luck with the new project.
2. Just great well done, I still can not play that, but will be pinching your vid,to learn from,thanks... just love the Cure
3. keep on trying dont give up,if you do any dep work bv,are a big asset, adding vocs to a band can really add to you sound. I do a lot of lead and bv in my band we have three lead vocals, the problems I have if I sing lead, after doing bvs for such a long time I end up singing a harmony instead of the lead, oh yes sometimes the bass line may suffer, but its only me that notices.
4. keep the jazz,I have 15 basses but guess what got played today?and prob next gig.
5. well done it takes a special person,to take on lead vocals,I take it you were playing with E,
6. It used to be record player, then a tape player, with a trip to the music shop to look up the lost cord in the sheet music ,now its mp3 and head phones, and a trip to you tube
7. I can play the giutar to a point, just so I can work out songs. .I have never claimed to be a guitarist, but bass yes.. I used to play bass lines on my friends guitar when I first started,he thought I was playing his lead parts .but that was a long time ago in a place far far away..........................
8. like this alot great bass tone and vocals, well done...
9. Hi following this with great interest, had my DB a few weeks now,and after 35years plus,on electric bass its like starting again, defo less is more, will be doing my first DB gig next month, getting quite worried, been playing classic rock for ages now will be playing rock n roll, very different. thanks.... Merlin
10. Im not sure on this,I got my DB about four weeks ago and Im still biulding up the strength required,up to about 30 mins of playing now,but we are all different,so the best of luck hope it all goes well for you..
11. really pleased its sorted,
12.
It's a no-brainer, bassists are FAR more important than rhythm guitarists. Imagine being an 'E string bassist' - how much work do you reckon you'd get?
I dont get much just tell him to foxtrott oscar
13. James the d/b is doing well, she is being well played, fingers hurt! great to meet you and great coffee, Jimryan great man to do a deal with thanks again. Thanks again James.
14. Dont give up, play through head phones,Ive been playing for 37years and Im still insecure about my playing.. dont worry you will improve
15.
So sorry about that. I too had an infection at Christmas, the infection attacked my heart and I developed myocarditis. I was off work for two months, but thankfully now I am well on the road to recovery. I still can't do any heavy lifting or heavy exercise and I get out of breath easily if I overdo it, but I feel I had a lucky escape! I think that my healthy diet helped me, although the lack of physical exercise has meant I have piled some pounds on. What it did make me realise was life is too short, so I took up two things I always wanted to be able to do.... the first was learning to knit! This helped me when I was sofa bound for 2 months! the second when I got well enough was learning to play bass!! I am loving both my knitting (she says typing in a hand knitted jumper.... sad but true) and my bass playing.great to hear your on the mend,
16. Hi I was really fit and very active at the beginning of the year,I think it saved my life..I thought that I had man flu then a chest infection but carried on working..wrong it was an infection munching away at my heart, its not good when the doc said "oh you have had an heart attack".. So now five months later two stone heaver, not even able to carry shopping, not allowed to exercise,at the moment....yes being fit can save your life, and I cant wait for the all clear.. so all that I can say is listen to your body(.I can still play for short periods)
17. not sure on this one but Im weird like that
18. Ive not really thought about this, just something you do,thinks...with my fretting hand...
19.
Value/Price doesn't come into it for me, I gig what I own. My basses range in value from £200 - £5000 and I don't consider the value when I'm doing a gig, as they are instruments to be played and enjoyed.
so true
20. congrats and well done, have fun,all the practice was worth doing..
21. I aways use a rcd but now going to get a mains tester, thanks.yes and have played at pubs with the wall plug hanging out by its wires or plugs that are smashed, and the ones where the only socket it 100 yards from the playing area, happy days
22. The band had a name and a gig befor we had proper gear,I think we shared an old record amp,or tape player and speakers,we tried to play Pink Floyd Backman turner stuff, looking back great times, played mostly in youth clubs, that was 37 years ago, Still playing, and lovin it...
