Looking forward to seeing McKee and Ross ( although sadly not Mr Manring) in October Oct 20 in Blackwood Miner's Institute ( not far from Cardiff, Newport or Caerphilly) for those who may be interested. Cheers Alun
Easy to get to from Bristol? Still tickets available?
That's a wonderful piece of music. Is Manring using an Ebow at the end?
It is indeed a wonderful piece of music, and yes, it seems that Manring is using an ebow. Always been facinated by then, but never quite sure of what they do!!! I love it when Manring comes in at 1.01!!! Great
3. That dog, is adorbale. Some of the basses are quite nice as well lol
I love how the youtube kids claim hes using a midi cello sound.
Last week I saw someone had written that Manring had all his tune changes programmed into a box and that him flicking the de-tuners was a show....sums up yootoobkids
5. Stumbled upon this this morning, and couldn't believe how great it was. Rylynn Manring plays a great ambience behind the music, letting the guitars to the melody, however I feel I would of liked some more support work done by him, but a great tune anyways!
6. John Deacon anybody? This is sexay, but I'm poor. My sisters single atm...
7. I normally take my PJ to band practice as its the perfect bass for a band setup, but I took my Shuker 6 last night, and it was WONDERFULL. Great sound and feel.
8. Girl - "Doesn't it normally have six strings?" Me - "No, why have you seen Anthony Jackson here alot?" Girl - "NO!!! I thought he stopped performing when the Jackson 5 broke up!!!" Fair comment I spose
9. Listening to the track it sounds like your playing it wrong. I think it should go - G-------------------------------------------------H--------- D----------------------------------------3--4--4-5--x------- A-------5------3--3--3----3--4--5-5-------------------5----- E--3-------6------------------------------------------------6--- For the first bit. The G after the F# as a hammer -on
10.
apparently "drumkit from hell" is where it's at. I've downloaded it (for trial purposes only) but I haven't tried it yet. Apparently the drummer from meshugga (sp?) uses it instead of recording live drums, and the samples are from his actual kit.
You are correct sir!
11.
Cliff Burton - Anaesthesia / Pulling Teeth from Kill 'em All
I remember learning this years ago!!! Pretty cool, I like it for when I wanna mess about and have a little fun.
12. I have a Shuker 6 string thu-neck. Very nice, no complains at all and an excellent bass.
13.
Victor Wooten's "Amazing Grace" seems to fit the bill. Yes, it's on YouTube & you can get it on musicnotes.com for a couple of dollars for the sheet music.
Thanks! Really liking this tune!
14. I'm really in the mood of late to learn a bass solo, however I'm not sure what so I was wondering if you friendly people could help out. Certain aspects I like are, - Chordal work or just chords - Harmonics (Don't say Portait of Tracy, learnt it, played it, forgot it ) - Strong sense of melody If there's a youtube video or such like even better. Cheers m'dears
15. I belive it's called a Google Check Thomann or strings direct maybe? I can imagine that EvilBay would have some.
16.
I see ur point and heres a closer pic. tbh i major on th p pup with just a tad of the jazz for a warmer sound, but the sadowsky pre is so damn good it can sound like whatever u want really, im not a great one for single bridge mounted pups, so never use it on its own.
Well its an absolute gourgeous bass, congrats!
17. that top wood is lush
18. If you look at cool in the dictionary, theres a picture of that 77 p-bass....
19. The J pup on the Sadwosky is unsually high, whys that? What type of a sound does it give compared to the trad. P-J setups on P basses?
20. In a turnaround to the convorsation - I think Michael Manring is possibly one of the best MUSICIANS in the world and composers - he truly is a master and obviously is a clever clogs to work out the tunings and stuff that he uses in his songs. SO, what have the bass players mentioned brought to modern bass playing? I smell another thread coming on.....
21. That bass has been floating around for a while, great look for something different!!! Congrats
22. Surely the type of music plays comes into the objectivness of the convorsation as well? For example, I really like the music from RHCP and I like Flea's lines and I appeciate him for what he is/does even though I do think he is overated but if someone doesn't like RHCP. As another example I cannot stand Billy Sheehans music from his bands or him and as such I cannot appeciate him. But the hippie socialist side of me is getting out - arn't we all just trying to make music and have fun, even the famous bass players?
23.
mimimalism is definitely the way to go.
Are Precisions about to fly of the shelves?
24. "OMG he's speaking so fast!!!" "Too fast for you maybe, but for Chuck Norris its like 11 years in a prison cell with nothing to do but the worlds hardest wordsearch." "What?"
