Octave Pedle
that pedal is appalling, i sold it almost as soon as i got it
You weren't listening hard enough. The Octaver in that pedal is sublime. I'd get either a Foxrox Octron, or if I had the space and patience an EHX POG.
  2. Yo Higgie. Nice board man. Glad to see that you're getting your sh*t together.
  3. Yes, I always use compression. Much like a crutch!
  4.
jus get a behringer cs100, kicks the crap out of it anyways
I disagree. Strongly. Behringer is cheap and nasty.
  5. I'm building it right now
  6. Put it where it sounds best to your ears. You can put it in the loop (Where it will probably be post EQ) or inbetween your bass and head. Remember that if you connect it in the FX loop and you DI from your amp, then the effects loop could very well be post-DI.

    Bruce Foxton

JPJ - Check what valve is in your 750x. I can't remember. If you ask Brycebites over at finnbass he is my local valve expert. Check him out for which valve drives he likes best. That's probably a better place to start than buying pedals.
  8. Nash - I'd definitely try out a compressor. Aphex is as good of a start as any. Pick one up from Sound Control - be careful with the packaging and return it if you dont like it.

    a bit of gravel??
When I want a bit of gravel I reach for a sansamp. Then turn up the drive and add some treble. Lovely. Couldn't live without it.
A tight budget is the difficult part. If you could get together £100 I'd say get a second hand fulltone fatboost or a DHA flavour to suit. What budget are we talking exactly?
  10.
I highly recommend IshiBashi. Fast insured deliveries too and much cheaper than buying the 'non export' versions in the UK
+1.
  11. Elixirs on my Warwick Dingwalls on my Dingwall Celinders on my Celinder
  12.
Also where did you get it from? Do Dingwall have a UK dealer yet, or did you have to import it?
I bought it from a bloke who owns 10 ( ! ) Super J's. They don't have UK distro but you can order anything direct from them ([email protected])
Are all Dingwalls active?
Mine is. The 4 knobs are: Master Volume / Dingwall rotary pickup selector / bass boost and cut / treble boost and VTC on the same knob / active passive flick switch. It's a great preamp - someone really put alot of thought into it. Since this picture was taken I've added the new CNC machined rubber knobs that are standard on all new dingwalls, and a set of fres GHS M2500 Contact Core steels.

  14. I've never had a feedback thread. I really don't see the need.
  15. That's pretty strange. I definitely wouldn't class my db750 as harsh. At all. Have someone futzed with the tubes?

    Post counts

Since Mr.Moderator Dood got his post count restored, when do the rest of us proels get our counts restored too? http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showuser=32 Mine was 2435. Kthnx.
  17.
Looks like a fanned fret lined fretless. How the F do you play that!
Ferret, you're close. It's a fretted. Dingwall use ultra-small "banjo" frets on their basses. I've found them very comfortable to play so far. Also, the fanned frets have had no learning curve for me - honestly - it's just like picking up any other bass. I was dubious before I bought it having never played a Fanned Fretboard before, but until you get up the dusty end the fanned frets have a 0 sum learning curve I'll post come more pics later - sorry for being sucha tease
