  1. I was going to say the same, on the assumption that the truss rod and relief are fine, then a shim would be the way to go.
  2. Tonight's overthinking episode... Question for those who take two basses to a gig: do you take one just as a spare or do you use both? I ask because I've started taking my second bass as a spare, being somewhat paranoid about equipment failure having had an amp blow on me mid-gig, but so far I've just left it in the gig bag. I've been wondering if it's worth it, mainly because carrying two basses about is heavy and a faff, and if I'm taking both anyway whether I shouldn't just try swapping out for different songs, as there are some that would definitely sound better with one or the other. Is it more of a faff to have to change over instruments potentially several times, especially if you don't have much time between songs? And, crucially, would it only really be me that notices or cares about the difference in tone?
  3. This is exactly why shops offer warranties that say "if you're not completely satisfied". I'd be talking to the retailer about an exchange or repair myself. If the box wasn't damaged then this has come from the factory in that condition, so somebody's QC process has fallen down.
  4. Nice one. I've always wanted to play GYOW with a live band, that chorus is still my all time favourite bassline to play.
  5. I'm sure he's not trawling internet forums looking for mention of his brand to sue randoms for trademark infringement though, especially as just mentioning the brand isn't trademark infringement.
  6. So is Fender, Gibson, Ampeg, and every other manufacturer mentioned on this site though.
  7. Is Rickenbacker a swear word now?
  8. Good choice
  9. If you're not going to be playing with gnarly distortion at full volume you'll probably be fine.
  10. This is one way to do it.
  11. OK that doesn't look awful.
  12. You'd like to think a DJ on NYE would do more than just play Spotify from their laptop through a PA, some patter/banter should be part of their schtick
  13. And probably trying to explain what the relationship is between those properties
  14. Should also indicate that this is also available...
  15. There's this...
  16. Also worth mentioning that the value the amp gives is going to be for when it's going flat out, so if you're never getting the volume past halfway then having a cab with a lower wattage rating than the amp isn't necessarily a cause for concern. If you are then just add another cab
  17. Which classic bass can they go after next? Maybe a Rickenbacker clone, or a Spector NS2?
  18. Depends on the dream expectations I guess. That Mariah Carey song was streamed 101 million times one week in November alone: https://www.billboard.com/music/chart-beat/mariah-carey-all-i-want-for-christmas-is-you-number-one-15th-week-global-200-1235550829/ (although admittedly not just from Spotify)
  19. I've seen a figure north of £320k - definitely a nice little earner. I'm sure there's a fair few artists living the dream even off Spotify streams every Christmas, and probably a fair few estates paying out to heirs.
  20. They are fantastic amps, I love mine!
  21. Yeah, the bassline to the Slade tune is quite fun to play. Our singist/de facto BL flat out refuses to do any Christmas songs, so I use that bassline as my soundcheck at this time of year 😂
  22. Two biggies here:
  23. A source for confirmation: https://books.google.co.uk/books?id=7A4EAAAAMBAJ&pg=PA42-IA1&lpg=PA42-IA1&dq=polydor+"499+8686"&source=bl&ots=FQUGozxu7p&sig=ACfU3U1zcPpov7eQHxNJun4dxDftgCgXEA&hl=en&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwjOqv--zZiDAxVVWUEAHUnzAaUQ6AF6BAghEAM#v=onepage&q=polydor "499 8686"&f=false
