  1. How... how does he not know? Also is he secret Wilfred Brimley?
  2. Agreed, I think they're definitely on a nice little earner (I hadn't realised until I looked at his website that he's actually CXO at SBL, not just a presenter). I was amused by a recent video where they both seemed really sheepish about using boutique basses (possibly Wal) while attempting demonstrating the tone achieved by someone using a bog standard Fender.
  3. Ian Allison also does a load of stuff on social media for SBL demonstrating how to achieve certain sounds, and I guess it becomes problematic to do that if you only have one or two basses.
  4. Well that was... something...
  5. When I played club cricket I was very unhappy at having to get a new bat, having used the old SS Jumbo I'd inherited off my dad (it still had the Viv Richards endorsement on it!) for about 20 years until it shattered from my nicking an inside edge. So I bought a new SS (the Indian brand not the English one) and all went really well for three games until a quick ball jumped at me and in fending it off the ball hit the handle and snapped it. Fortunately there was a shop near me that did repairs and did it quickly and well, and I was able to hit a quickfire 45 with it next game. Alas it's been gathering dust in my wardrobe for almost five years now but I may get it out again in future if I can be bothered seeking out a new club.
  6. I was quite used to driving around Leeds but they've cut a lot of the city centre off for cars now so it's not as (relatively) easy as it once was. Fortunately I have no real need to these days, I let the P&R bus drivers deal with that nonsense.
  7. Their experience making basses for other manufacturers probably helps too, learning the lessons of other manufacturer's requirements. My Squier P was made in a Cort factory in 1996 and while it's definitely a bit idiosyncratic the underlying quality is definitely present.
  8. I watched the Bass The World review of it yesterday and Frank seemed to be loving it, forgoing the usual epic bass face for an expression of constant pleasant surprise. Plus it looks danged sexy too, and I'm no great fan of the aesthetics of headless basses!
  9. I have two and don't have any need for more than one more (although I would like to but space and finances are a constraint) and that will be a 5er to open up more song possibilities for the band. I try to rotate mine but my P-bass is killing my Elf at the moment it seems so which I use on a gig will depend on the size: if I want to use the Elf I'll have to use the Sire bass, but if I want to use the P then I'll have to drag the ABM out. Unless I can nail down the problem with the Elf before the warranty runs out, in which case hopefully a replacement will solve that particular issue!
  10. Here, in fact!
  11. I think Tony Franklin did a video on how to do this sort of thing.
  12. It sounds very SBL, I get daily emails to sign up to their Technique Accelerator course when I have no intention of doing so.
  13. That sort of issue could happen anywhere though. I recently booked my tyre fitting through Asda at Wilco Motosave, who are normally very good, but they forgot to book me a fitting slot, so I wasted three hours of my afternoon, and at the end of it my steering wheel isn't straight.
  14. The potential for damage by continuting to be demo'd even after it's been bought is definitely uncool!
  15. Give it a few months, we'll all be sweltering again!
  16. All very Trainspotting
  17. Indeed, women shouldn't get away with that sort of thing either
  18. You guys get changing rooms? I normally have to turn up in what I'm playing in!
  19. Is this not a P2G issue rather than Evri? I've only ever used it to receive something before so I'm not sure what their process is like from the other end.
  20. Mesa Boogie are a budget brand? Also Trace Elliot are owned by Peavey these days so definitely not dead, and definitely not crap.
  21. Trace Elliot is owned by Peavey these days
  22. From experience easyJet are a much nicer prospect to deal with than Ryanair though.
  23. When I lived in Dublin I used to have to fly to my company's Liverpool and Manchester offices fairly regularly. It was hilarious to see all the Ryanair cabin crew more or less running up and down the aisle trying to sell stuff in the brief window between takeoff and landing.
  24. Is there anyone who doesn't believe Ryanair is just a massive cash grab? Michael O'Leary is pretty damned mercenary.
