1.
Man I wish, in a couple of months maybe, right now Pffft! The fact I'm also based in Leeds somehow makes it all the more frustrating...
Hehe, well keep an eye on it mate, it might still be here in a couple of months, I'm in no big rush...
2. As new condition, 6 months old. Haven't got a pic right now, but will get one. It's this mic anywho... E606 £70 posted
3. BOTH SOLD. Right, I've been considering this for a little while now, as I want something a bit more practical. It sounds so lush, but it's wasted on me as I DI through my sansamp at most of my gigs. Plus I've had back / shoulder problems after someone went into the back of my car earlier this year, so I want an ultra-light head, as lifting this about is not doing me any favours. Mind you, it's not too heavy (about 25kg for the head, 30kg for the cab), but it just seems a little unnecessary, especially as my Markbass 4x10 seems to handle any gig I throw at it. [s]The amp is in good condition and sounds absolutely wonderful, but does have a few little nicks in the tolex. Anyone who has seen how thin the tolex is on these will know that this is inevitable. Anyway, I bought it from RyMed in November, and it had just been serviced and had the power valves replaced (with Electro Harmonix 6550). Since then I have also purchased a cover for it, and it's probably done about 5 or 6 gigs since the service. Given this limited use, I'd quite like to get back what I paid for it, which was £700.[/s] [s]The cab was bought new about the same time, and it's in really good nick. It's 400 watt, 8ohm, 100db sensitivity, 30 kgs. Again, it has a few marks here and there, but looks pretty stunning in limited edition white. This is a lovely sounding, growly fifteen that's really loud due to it's excellent sensitivity, and once again has a branded cover. I know one of these went very cheap on here a while back (£180), but this is pretty much new - I've played 3 gigs with it! But obviously I have to follow market trends. So therefore, I think £250 is a very reasonable price...[/s] I'm based in Leeds, but I can deliver for petrol costs. Trade-wise, I'd be interested in a TC Electronic RC4 foot controller...
4. If you like the bass and don't want to take a hit on the price, why don't you see if anyone wants to trade necks for a RW jazz neck?
5.
i bet anyone with a 400 watt valve amp has never pushed it past 200watts.
I agree with Alex on this one; 200 watts isn't a great deal, and it's just a RMS figure anyway - in the real world I reckon that there would easily be moments of almost 1000 watts at a big gig.
isn't the V4 200 watts and the V6 and V8 400 watts?
I thought that they were 200, 300 and 400 watts, as the number in their name referred to the amount of power valves...
6.
Keep on getting tempted by this but the reason I have problems with my Ampeg is weight.
I had a Markbass before getting one of these - they're not too heavy, and once you hear the sound they make... It's definitely worth it!
7.
I recently bought a Jazz secondhand with Fenders strings on it (roundwounds with yellow wraps not sure what type of string). I was very impressed with the sound though. I feel they're a lot like DR Hi-Beams which are my favourite strings (ie pretty zingy but good punchy mids and low tension). Here's a webpage where Ed Freidland does a comparison of the whole DR range (with sound files). It's a very handy tool to allow you to make up your mind, considering the average price of a set of Hi - Beams is almost £30.
Yeah, these have black wraps, and they're absolutely lovely! Everything about them is great, but they're starting to get dull now... Is this the review you were talking about?
8.
That looks like a very good setup.. the warmth from the orange and the punch and clarity form the MB.. I'm glad you saw sense..
I'm very glad I saw sense too!
9.
It isn't, at least not compared to a 'typical' fanned fret system. The intonation wrt fanned frets is something of a red herring, though I expect the build quality and set-up of the Dingwalls means they're better than a lot of other production basses. The issue with the bongo that GW cited is more likely to relate to set-up and/or build quality. Alterations to neck relief, action height and bridge string spacing will all affect how well a bass intonates for a given fret spacing pattern. If you go shorter scale, these factors become more critical and you have a smaller acceptable window of adjustments, but as long as you stay within it, no major issues.
Ahh, ok I see. It's just the intonation benefits were being talked about, and I couldn't see any specific scientific reason for them, (in the context of fanned frets being the deciding factor). The high build quality definitely makes sense though; the only bass I've ever had a problem with intonation on had a warped neck!
10. +1 - Lots and lots of stretches! I also cramp up quite easily, and at most of my gigs I play for about 2 hours, so I make sure I do at least 5 minutes of stretches before each set - it makes a massive difference. Also, take a look at how you support your plucking hand while playing - if your wrist is bent, then your carpel tunnel is closed up, and your fingers will cramp up a lot quicker. If this is the case, try raising your elbow a little (think 'I'm a little teapot'). This will straighten out your wrist, allowing better freedom of movement in your fingers. It takes a bit of getting used to, but if you make an active effort to do it, within a month or so it should be second nature.
11.
Intonation: It's better, in some cases a lot better, but I think that's more of a scale length thing than the fanned-frets themselves.

In our own experiments with 35" vs 37" (we offer both)
I don't quite understand this mate - wouldn't the scale length on the G be 32" if the B was 35"? So how can a scale length that is so different for each string improve intonation? Not doubting you or anything, just maybe I'm missing something. Is the intonation issue, with which Grand Wazoo had such a massive dilemma, an inherent problem with basses that have a standard 34" scale length?
12. Hmm, I can't find anywhere in the UK that stocks the Gallis... Anyone else have any ideas? I've heard good things about DR Sunbeams... I used to like their stainless Lo-Riders, but went off DRs after using the black beauties - they gave me friction burns on slides!
13. I shall have a look, but how does the G sound? I tend to go for 45 to thicken it a little...
14. This is a great price for an excellent amp, will surely make someone very happy!
15. I recently got a jazz bass with these strings on, and I absolutely love them - they sound fantastic. However, I've read that Fender have changed their strings since this set was made, with D'addarrio doing the manufacturing for them. Now, don't get me wrong, I really like D'addarrio's, but this set completely floors them. So I'm looking for a decent alternative; a nickel-plated roundwound, preferably 45 - 100s. Any ideas?
16. Definitely want to keep this now, as I'm in no rush to sell, and I just tried it out in the setup below... I know mixing different cabs/drivers isn't always the best idea, but this sounds incredible. Punchy and thick, no phasing here! Apologies for being an indecisive little scamp.
17.
Will buy and pay asking price if you courier.
As I explained to you in PM last week Dan, unfortunately a courier is out of the question, as I am at work throughout the week. To be honest, I'm seriously considering keeping this - the weight isn't too bad really, and the sound is awesome. I lowered the price in response to the other Orange 15 that's for sale on here, but I don't really want to take a £200 hit on something which is basically new. 'tis the problem of buying new I suppose...
18. Bump: back for sale after buyer pulled out. Price drop!
19. I'd have to say a second 4x10 and AD200. That way you have a back up head and cab for your smaller gigs, a 200 watt 8x10 rig with a backup head for bigger gigs, or a 400 watt 8x10 rig for the last date on the tour
20. Just cleared off over 90mb... Sorry!
21. Bump for new pictures!
22. A few offers, but nothing solid. Bump!
23. Fantastic amp this, my friend has one - very vox-ish!
