1.
Is a Trace Elliot by the way lol.
Woops! Yeah same same
2. There's a great little Ashdown Boxer 65 in the for sale section, it might not have all the bells & whistles but they're a bloody good practice amp for just a few quid http://basschat.co.uk/topic/238201-trace-elliot-boxer-65-l50-suffolk/
3. I think we need to see pictures of the basses as well it might help honest Sounds like a good set of Jazzes
4. That looks ACE! Refreshingly different too Congrats
5.
We all must have been very very lucky. In 40 years of playing bolt on basses I've never even heard the problem referred to before this thread.
Same here - but put me down for 50 years next year - not a common problem I'm sure
6. If there's anything of special interest to anyone in my signature - I'll try & bring it along, I don't think there's anything special there - but otherwise I thought I would just bring a few examples of my wiring kits
7. The Bass Doc - on here may be able to help you out, drop him a PM
8. Hi Matt, Those CTS pots are the same that Fender use in their USA range basses so no point in changing them - assuming those you have are the same value - 250Kohms. That cap is a 0.1 Sprague which will certainly give you the fat dark tone when the tone pot is rolled back, shouldn't make it muddy though, you could do far more with your amp EQ settings than changing anything in your bass, although of course different pick up have different frequency outputs. Cheerz, John
9. Steve asked me to make a wiring kit for his old Westone revival project - great comms. & instant payment - a real pleasure to deal with. Cheerz, John
10. I wish I could work out how to do that with dropbox too
11. Get on the 'phone tomorrow to Ashdown technical, they'll sort you out without a doubt, probably be Dave or Mark - 2 nicer more knowledgeable about amps blokes you'll never meet
12. Yes I'd love to - if it's a disabled friendly environment so I can get in on my scooter. Legs are not good these days but you don't play with legs do ya!
13. Gutted - I was expecting a studio monitor with a 21" speaker in it
14.
Pimp my cab!!! Pretty chuffed with the outcome
Yeah! Looks cool
15. May I refer you to my reply in your previous thread; http://basschat.co.uk/topic/237463-jazz-bartolinis/page__fromsearch__1 Have you tried swapping the wires from one pick up?
16. A picture is worth a thousand words - can you put up a picture of your pots, wiring etc? Have you tried swapping polarity on one pick up?
17. I love to say - "told you so" - Congratulations
18. If it was only the alignment of the strings equally on the neck that was the problem, the first thing I would suspect would be the neck had received a jolt during shipping. Even a very good neck/pocket fit can be nudged out of alignment quite easily. I would have slackened the strings then slackened the neck bolts & 'got a feel' for where the neck wanted to sit in the body. Then tightened the lot up & checked again, if it's wrong it always will be but chances are things would have seated themselves in the right place for the sake of 5 minutes with a screwdriver. Easier than sending it back
19. I've had these on my amp for a long time, some of the segments have died as you can see - but it's the best way I know of reminding self to turn amp off after use! https://www.dropbox.com/s/mtzxs1akm3uhlxf/2014-05-20%2014.24.18.jpg
20. I have a couple of the American Vintage Re-issue P's a '57 & '62, both different, the '57 is Ash body & one piece Maple neck, the '62 Alder & Maple/Rosewood neck. I use GHS Precision flats 50-105 on both, they both have that early P tone & flavour in bucket loads. If the originals are out of your budget, I would suggest trying the AV series, especially used examples - which come up at very good prices - sometimes
21.
Can anyone let me know how to upload photos from my phone pls?
