1. 66p for my Carvin. A bit of a trawl of my memory banks and I came up with the Cornford Harlequin (yes, sorry, a guitar amp) which at full price works out at £133.16 per watt!!
2. I'd check out some of the lesser name brands like Cort and Aria before making a decision.
3. Another 60+ pool of songs - some disappear for a while and then come back but every gig there will be something different, and often we'll throw something in on the night. Ours is all quite simple stuff - Dylan, Creedence, 60's singer songwriter sort of stuff so fairly easy to be flexible.
4. Art and entertainment
5. Is it a PubCo pub (Enterprise Inns, Punch Taverns etc) they're dropping like flies around here.
6. Is this a signature model?
7.
Don't do a "Del Boy" when relaxing at the bar matry! Hahaha. Hope the gig is fun for you.
Brilliant scene - almost as good as the Gandhi gag! Was a top gig, three piece - two acoustics (one doubling on mandolin) and me on bass. Really receptive audience, loads of Dylan including some not soo obvious ones, and a decent payer. Bring back wine bars I say!!
8. Got a gig tonight in a WIne Bar - didn't know they still existed!! Better roll the sleeves of my jacket up and learn how to slap
9.
Can't wait, a whole night of in yer' face, three chords, twelve bars, 2 drums, rock n' roll !!!
Fixed - great to see these bands that can conjure up so much energy from so little. Must check them out.
10. 50 Ways To Leave Your Lover Paul Simon/Steve Gadd
11.
how about some tasteful Little Feat
Is there any distasteful Little Feat? Steve Earle should be on your list.
12. Great guitar maker, and yes, big P90 fan here as well - that's a very wise buy!
13. Giving away an original Electro Harmonix Polychorus in the 80's.
14. Broken my current vinyl habit to buy a copy! Look forward to hearing it, good luck with the release Nige.
15. Terrific stuff Bilbo, let me know if you set up a Facebook page and I'll make sure I share it with my old Ipswich mates.
16.
Most people I hear playing it play the guitar riff but with single notes instead of chords.. I've never heard anyone but myself playing the actual bassline
The right key let alone the actual bassline
17.
Smoke On The Water comes to mind!
Sorry, original post possibly a little bit confrontational - What I should have said is I don't think anyone would notice if you played this as the bassline isn't particularly obvious.
18. Rehearsed it last night with the settings as you had left them (although active off) - never used it with gain up that high, it sounded fabulous Thanks for that!
19. Hi Bren, Didn't want to remain anonymous, just wanted to hear your genuine response to the Carvin before discussing it - I almost feel embarrassed to compare it to amps costing at least twice as much so wanted you and I to get your own unbiased opinion on it. Thrilled you like it (as I'm sure Phil at Bass Gear will be) Great band and fabulous playing, esp you and your drummer! Mike
20. Top man - takes guts to do what you have just done. Welcome back
21. Huge variety here - Roto's are almost roundwounds with a little of the edge taken off whereas Status and D'addario are closer to flatwounds with a completely flat surface. I was using Roto's as I liked the extra bit of grunt I got from them having found the Status ones a little too tame (however, many on here love them). I have now switched to Picato which are as cheap as the Status but to my ears a bit brighter (which, although I haven't ried them, I understand the D'addario's also are).
22. How come such a beat up body has such a pristine (and absolutely stunning) fingerboard?
23. Great site, £20 very fair, especially as I'm now settled with what I have so nothing to sell I think the bad vibes that do happen on OT could reflect the times we are going through with a lot more divisiveness in life in general. Overall though I still think the site is very "entertaining"
24. I sort of like this: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/double-neck-guitar-bass-/271186851406?_trksid=p2047675.m2109&_trkparms=aid%3D555001%26algo%3DPW.CURRENT%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D14839%26meid%3D7078333459656574146%26pid%3D100010%26prg%3D1013%26rk%3D5%26sd%3D221215745282%26
