1.
Do you know, I have played bass for well over 30 years, and I have just realised at this very moment that some basses have dots/blocks/ markers at the first fret...and some don't ! I have literally never noticed that before right here right now . Presumably, some unlined fretlesses have side dots at the first position and some don't.
When I read this post pre-gig on Saturday evening I thought to myself, "my current fretless doesn't have a dot on the first fret", but then when I got it out of the case I realised it does! However, to get back on thread, I have just spotted (new in a shop in the US) a fretted Tony Franklin bass in sunburst; I thought the fretteds only came in amber or white.
2.
It's always handy when the correct course of action is to do nothing...
Cheaper too
3. Are you planning on keeping the Ampeg? If yes, pedal, if no, amp!
4. Sold, and off to Germany today
5.
Yes. Click the menu button, scroll over to 'Camera' and click. Select off and then return to main screen by pressing 'Menu' twice. That sets it up to record sound only. Take a line out to your computer and once it is switched on it is a live mic. You could just record on the Q3 and copy across from the SD card as well.
Thanks! I knew how to set up for mic only, but wasn't sure about hooking up to PC. Where does the line out from the Q3 go on the PC?
6. Hi all I want to use my Zoom to do a quick multi track for my daughter's school project (guitar/vocal/drums/bass). Is this possible? Can I set up the Zoom as a mic and record straight into Reaper with it? Cheers Gareth
7. On hold, sale pending.
8.
I know I might be playing devils advocate to some extent asking this question , but are you sure you can handle an unlined fretless board? Are you an experienced fretless player ? I've been playing some fretless lately after a long layoff from it , and I am extremely grateful for the fret lines on my bass for a variety of reasons. I nearly bought an unlined bass, but I realise now that would have been a mistake . These look like lovely basses , but that lovliness would be negated if you can't play it in tune properly. Not much sounds worse than out-of-tune fretless playing.
I've played an unlined fretless for almost every gig I've done over the last six years, so I think I'll be okay
9.
The buffered J pup is pretty characteristic. I don't know how easy it is to replicate...
That's a very good point Michael.
10.
Stick a J pickup in one of these ? http://www.theguitar...-FJ-PB62-FL.htm Could look out on e-bay or "nearly new" from Japan I guess. I prefer my fretless P Basses to have the "TV" decal on them - don't know if that would be a biggie with you ?
That's a good shout.
Will no other fretless P (with added J) sunburst/torty fit the bill?
Yes, I guess so, but I've read so many good reviews of the TFs it's hard to resist one!
11. Great amps. Thinking of getting another myself....
12. Looks like I'll source one from the US in the new year.
13. I played the one in BassGear last week. These are awesome basses. The tone is just....wow, and the finish is great as it looks like you can touch the grain, but the bass is actually smooth to the touch.
14. I switch between electric fretless and EUB all the time. I've tried a number of different options over the years, but I keep coming back to the Bigshot i/o as one of the simplest and most effective.
15. A truly fantastic album. Cozy Powell at his thunderous best too.
16. Whatever works for the individual, of course, but personally I find an unlined board sexy as hell. It just screams out "play me".
17. Revision to trade+cash options in the original post.
18. Used it on its own in a large hall last night with my Tonehammer 500. No PA support. Sounded great!
19. Included in the sale is a Protec Contego case and two spare sets of La Bella strings (one black nylon flats, one steel flats)
