1.
Looking forward to one of your now famous videos Gareth!
One shall follow in due course, no doubt
2. Sold a strap to Pinball. Communication was top notch and payment very quick. Happy to deal with him again.
3. Maybe a BC bulk order is required?
4. On hold, sale pending.
5.
the company is called Spitfire Vintage Tortoiseshell Pickguards http://spitfiretorto...ress.com/order/
They look great!
6.
So, what's your initial thoughts on the Demeter?
Haven't had a chance to give it a good run yet, but aim to do so this weekend. My first impression is that it's like the Demeter pre I had a few years back: terrific weight and presence to each note, but always clean and articulate.
7. I bought a Boss pedal from Carlos. It was just as decribed (mint) and his communicatons were superb throughout. He even shipped it UPS. No hesitation in recommending him at all. Thanks Carlos!
8. Bag sold so price adjusted accordingly.
9.
Did you change from the CN212 to the HD210? How are you finding the differences? Nice setup. I've always wanted a TF. PS - Just out of interest, if Barrie etc is around, are there any DI versions of this head left?
I think that stock level is a mistake, as I am pretty sure the DI versions are not built yet. Bass Gear have one non-DI version, which will be at the LBGS this weekend. I prefer the HD210. It's a more traditional sound, not so dry/upper mid heavy as a neo driver, and is a good match with the Demeter as that has terrific presence to the note but without being boomy, much like the HD cab. It's also a good power/power handling match in 400 watts at 8 ohms for both.
10.
Anyway people are only bagging on you to get the DI version so they can buy it off you when you get bored
LOL
11.
I know of 3 sales which were for upgrades.
Yep, mine is up for sale as I've upgraded to the new Demeter amp
12. Here's mine. It's #3
13. Bank of England advice to local banks is here. Useful?
14.
Well, I decided to pull the trigger and have just ordered one
Good man, welcome to the club!
15. Another perfect transaction with Grahame. And yes, it did involve valves, lots and lots of lovely valves......
16.
I know exactly what you mean. I don't understand why modern tort plates are so dreadful. The Bass Doc is your man though. He does source from WD and the results look like this. Two Bass Doc torts and an original 1971 side by side.
I would like to see this picture as a larger file, to really check out the detail.
17. My 1970 fretless P had the most beautiful tortoiseshell scratchplate on it, whereas the one on my new Tony Franklin looks like a pretty average facsimilie. 1970 P 2012 Tony Franklin Why aren't they the same? I assume it's something to do with the material they are made out of now? Cheers Gareth
18.
not relevant to anything but that fretless franklin model sounds amazing !
Very relevant, and thanks!
19. I've played old basses that sound amazing, and new ones that sound amazing too. I have also played old basses that sounded rubbish, and new ones that sounded crap too. I think a lot of it actually comes down to feel, rather than the sound per se. There's something about a bass that's been played a lot that just feels right. So many intangibles at play....
20. Sorry, not at this time no.
21. With my new Demeter amp due to arrive next week, I am putting my terrific Aguilar Tonehammer 500 up for sale. I bought this amp from Bass Gear in August last year. It's had a very easy life since then, maybe 3-4 gigs and a similar number of rehearsals. I did this little review soon after I bought it: And I also used it for the review of my new Tony Franklin basses: Condition is very good. The face plate is perfect, but there are four light scuffs on the top. Price-wise, the recent increase in Aguilar prices means these are now selling for £675. Stocks are limited out there too. I am looking for a firm £500 collected or £515 posted in the UK (in the original packaging). No trades and no offers, thanks. Collection from NE Hampshire or Central London welcome. Thanks Gareth
