John
And damn, I wish I'd seen that preamp!
Yeah I wasn't sure if I was going sell it, but I've bought a Shuker and I'm skint!
4. Pick up & Strings still available.
5. Tom sold me a lovely Schaller DB pup, before I'd even paid, to try out. Fantastic guy to do business with, many thanks Tom, John
6. Looks like a sale has been agreed, pending some shady dealings in a car park somewhere in the South West.
7. SOLD, SOLD, SOLD Just bought a Shuker Jazz after being nagged into it by fellow BC'ers...............I honestly wanted to walk away, but you lot insisted... So now comes the great sell off to fund said bass. Only just got this through-neck SSD NS94. It has an NS-4 truss rod cover, but it ain't one of them. Anyway, it's very similar to a through-neck NS2005 I had beginning of this year and has a similar sound spectrum to the Spector Legend series. Curved body, very comfy. It's black, in very good nick. It's been set up and restrung with new set of FatBeams and it comes in a neat case. £160 please + PP, or delivery/meet up within hour of North Dorset.
8. K&K Dual Channel Preamp. [s]£70 posted[/s] SOLD[s][/s] Used, but in very good condition. Works brilliantly with 2 pup combo on a DB. Here's the spec. The Dual Channel Pro Preamp is a two-channel, mixer that allows you to blend two pickups. It is compatible with both piezo and magnetic pickups. The Dual Channel Pro Preamp features extremely low noise operation. It can process high input peaks without distortion and offers an incredible dynamic range. Aside from its strong bass, midrange and treble filters (for each channel), it offers internal gain adjustments which set the pre amplification factor from 1 to 10 (per channel). This allows you to boost the input signal up to the 10-fold amount. It features two volume controls knobs, two 1/4" inputs, and a line level 1/4" output on the outside of the box. Inside the box, there are adjustable controls for gain, bass, midrange and treble for each channel. The tone controls offer an incredible +/- 20 dB. This is a wider range than some big boards on the market today! To keep the box as small as possible these controls are trim pots (small potentiometers for adjustment with a precision screw driver which is supplied). Once you installed the two systems you have chosen for your instrument, you can adjust them with the trim pots to your personal taste and needs. During performance, the two volume knobs on the outside allow for fast balancing on the fly. Technical Information: Frequency range 10 - 30,000 Hz Input Impedance: 1 Mega Ohm Output Impedance: 3 K Ohm Average Current: 3.5 mA Battery hours: about 60 Dimensions: 110 x 85 x 38 mm / 4+3/8" x 3+3/8 x 1+ 1/2 " Input and Output Jacks: 1/4" instrument jacks Bass, mid, treble EQ, gain and volume controls per channel Double bass bridge pickup. [s]£20 posted[/s] SOLD No idea what make it is, it came with a ply bass bought for my son. Works fine. Double bass strings [s]£20 posted[/s] SOLD Again, no idea what make, they came on the same bass. Decent enough sound for arc/pizz
9.
Even if you don't like it you should be able to sell it for more I think I think I've shot myself here on that one by saying how much I bought it for.... Actually, If you dont like it give me a PM I might swap my mim pbass
That's very kind of you sir.
10. Start your own band..............dictate to others. If you join other people's bands you've got to be prepared to comply, at least until they can trust you.
11.
I have Shuker Jazz with the Villex system in it, which I paid £635 for, and I thought it was a BARGAIN at that price. Go back and buy it. Immediately.
Ok, Ok, Ok stop going on.....I've got the message you lot are such nags. The gentleman has been contacted and his hand well and truly chewed off. He is now auditioning for the Captain Hook part in local am dram Peter Pan production. Should be collected end of this week, or next weekend. I will post some pics up when in my grubbies. Thanks for the info and posts, very helpful indeed. John
12. Cool! I bought a 6 string bass off him today, and whilst I was there he just got out all his basses and I had a play on them all. Couple of Shukers, and some Fenders and he said if I knew anyone who fancied the Jazz it was £500 including the case....think I'll go back and bite his hand off (which won't be nice for him clearly, seeing how he's offered me a bargain... and he'll have to adjust his technique to compensate). Thanks fellas, John
13. In a chance meeting with another bass player, he offered me hi Shuker jazz bass with villex notch knob thing, for £500. It's immaculate as he is a collector and looks after his guitars. I rather liked it's construction and the neck was very nice and I don't usually go for maple boards, but this was good. (Block fret markers were quite retro looking. Anyway, is this good value? I have no idea, I don't really need another bass but it was very light compared to my 20 year old USA Jazz. Any love for Shukers?

17. Hi is the volume/wah pedal still around? Is one of the inputs/output jack sockets missing? Couldn't quite make it out from the pics. Anyway, very interested. PM'd
18. Anyone in or around south west got a stick they'd wouldn't mind me having a go on? I'm thinking of getting one but would like to look and try first. Thanks, John
19.
OK, I have a budget of up to £1200 on this. Having done some homework, I'd like a SLB100 (not SLB 200). Cheers Chris
how's the mic working out? John
20. Best of British with the sale! I sold mine, and bought them back I missed them so much. They're off on tour with me this week. John
21. Chris bought a K&K golden bullet off me. Quick payment and bought me a drink.....! I'm proud to be on this wall of shame. John
22.
Been a BC member since June 09 and decided this morning to make my first excursion into the Double Bass section - what's all that about then?
Expensive, that's what it is Chris.
23.
That's really bad news it was a fantastic bass and well played. Was a proper players bass!!
Indeed Jake....Alan makes a fine bass.
24.
I couldn't stop the Schaller rattling when I tried it in my ply bass. I have got a custom made Kent Armstrong magnetic I'd be happy to sell. Was originally fitted to my Clifton EUB, but I took it off years ago because it sounded like a huge Pbass (as all mags tend to, I guess?). Its designed to fit a "standard" 3/4 bass fingerboard, and mounts with a single screw, two other screws that fit into holes as anchors and a rubber gasket that doubles as a template. Connection is a single phono socket. I'll take some pics if anyone is interested....
I'd be interested in some pics, I'm looking at another neck pup for my ply bass to mix with the piezo. Like the idea of another Schaller, but yours sounds interesting. John
25.
was the price to send it in the coffin to much??
No Jase, it wasn't available. I never thought I'd sell the Bassix, so I gave it to someone to move house with. But the packaging was the original double skinned box from my first EUB that came from Germany which was very substantial, plus lots of added material....... I can't help but feel sick every time I think about this. Never thought I'd feel this way about an instrument.
