1. Guitarist changing patches on his pedal board to get "the tone" Guitarist changing guitar in between songs to get "the tone" Guitarist tuning up in between songs... .......Bass player changing guitarists face in between songs All these things have emptied dance floors in my experience, very rarely a song though.
2.
What's an EBO?
It's an EMO with a cold...
3. His other listing... Lead bass? Pulling off? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/EPIPHONE-EBO-BASS-/180947649499?pt=UK_Musical_Instruments_Guitars_CV&hash=item2a215203db
4. Bought a line6 pod from Steve. Great comms, quick delivery, fab deal. Thanks, John
5.
...... one BC member I know must of spent £1000's travelling to GB basses in Brighton and another I know has been to NY to choose his Sadowsky
Blood & sand Pete! I don't have £1k to spend on a bass, let alone travelling expenses to see Bernie, no matter how good a biscuit he offers on your arrival.
6. I have no idea what the difference is between a £2k and a 5k bass, other than £3k, as I've never owned or played one As Mr.X has said, play as many as you can. If you don't have access to the guitars you're interested in, then "user" reviews may be the next best thing. Quite a lot on Harmonycentral and here. Any comment that isn't based on a "hands on" experience (and preferrably longer than 5 minutes in a shop at low volume) is pretty worthless in my experience, particularly if you're looking to spend the sort of money a Fodera costs. I found the link relating to this subject a little depressing as it had the inevitable "amateurs play basses worth x and professionals play basses worth y" post.
7. "pick or no pick?"....... Pick, if in the car......Hanky, if in public.
8. Haha! Come on Liam, was it 1 sugar?
9. £200 + pp in hard case for a Jap through neck bass, ebony board, new Di Marzios and new pots.
10. Dean Edge 5 string bass. Don't have the time or skill to do so. http://www.seymourduncan.com/products/bass/pickups-for-jaz/electronics/stc2_stc32_3ban/ Nice player and the eq has a wide spectrum. Flat profile neck and has some DR purple passion strings on. Although the coating is worn in places, they are still nice and bright. Strap locks fitted. Comes with spare set of non coated strings and a Ritter gig bag. I'm in Dorset, so come and try here or I'll post in guitar box with plenty of packing.
11. Would really like these. Sadly too far away and would have to sell summat like my recently acquired RS212. Have a Pre Murray disappointment bump.
12. Saw Wilco Johnson last night, his bass player (funny looking, little fella) spent whole set looking at the neck. Quite a tidy player. Personally, I like to get eye contact with as much of the audience as possible, so tend not to look at the neck too much, but the odd reference glance is needed. However, I don't play complex lines. I'm not bothered if I see a musician looking at their instrument or not. Do I like what they are playing?.. that's more important to me.
13. 100 Club a couple of weeks ago.
14. Come and enjoy one of this countries most flatulent and tallest bass players whos "low end rumble" has knocked out audiences for years, then stay and watch some Norman Watt-Roy bloke?
15.
I don't think it is just musicians, it's just people.
I know what you're saying Nigel, but I don't find the same level of hissy fits, flakiness, snobbery and unreiablity in any of the team sports I've been involved with. I find bands can be the the most frustrating collection of individuals......, musically satisfying yes, but "herding cats" sums it up sometimes. John
16.
I've finally managed to obtain the Paul Rose Headless I've been chasing for months & have to say that it is a revelation!! - Light, fantastic build quality & sounds wonderful - type bump!! Can't see anyone being disappointed if they buy this beauty - if only I wasn't skint & needed lines to 'almost' stay in tune on a fretless - umph!! Good luck with the sale - but I don't think you'll need it at that price!! - Custom build quality & components at a bargain basement price - dip yer bread Guys it's a 'no brainer'!!
Was that the one Paul made for me? Paul's basses are thoughtfully designed, well made, and stupidly good value. £210, to your door, seems a bargain to me.
17. A mate is getting married next Saturday and the band that was booked unfortunately can't fulfil the engagement due to bereavement. So, urgent request if anyone's band is available next week please get in touch. It's not a huge payer as one of the musicians was a friend of the groom and was not taking a fee. They don't have a lot of dosh, £500 is the fee. A varied set list modern and classic stuff to dance to is what they're after. Thanks if anyone can help them out. A link to a web site would be appreciated so the B&G can have a gander. PM me for details please. John
18.
Kind of like a woman with an Adams Apple and big hands.
That's Dorset girls for you... Quite enjoy a 5 string now and again, I keep one for occasional use, but after 30 years of 4 strings I find them a bit alien. If you want to borrow one for a more sustained try out, give me a shout.
19. Ah my old squeeze. Nice bass, excellent mods, lovely neck and gert pretty. Best wishes with the trade.
20.
and if we could get a few people to bring there rigs and pedals etc! then be pretty fun day!
Best part of a get together when people bring their rigs and guitars. Great chance to see, hear and play gear that you've not seen or heard before. Also if you've got something you're looking to sell or trade bring em along.
I'd be interested to showcase my Fretbuzz :-)
Sounds good.....I'd also be interested in your Harley's! ;-)
21. Workshop on dancing girls is mandatory. See if any local shops/distributor reps will donate some "bits" for a prize draw, either to cover costs or donate to BC. Shop that would are happy to provide some instruments/back line to demo? Local tech or luthier for "set up and instrument care" workshop? Any local virtuoso or working bass players who could do master class, q&a? House band would be great, maybe with a prearranged set list with chord charts. A prize draw could pay for the bands time. I found that you need to give people as much notice as poss, and try a Sunday, as Saturdays tend to be "gigging day" for a lot of people. Just some suggestions. John
22. Guy local to me wanted one of these after playing my B4, which was yours BB.
