Bought this to defret. However, I felt this was too nice to be butchered by my agricultural approach. So bought an old Jazz bass to rip up. Lovely jazz bass, with Wilkinson hardware (including very nice brass saddles) & pickups. I've set this up with a low action and new round wounds. The colour is a nice off white. Here's some specs. http://www.jhs.co.uk/reviews/AV4.pdf £120 posted, well wrapped up and boxed. In north Dorset, and happy for it to be collected or meet up somewhere not too far away.

Depends on what you qualify as a "masterclass" surely? If I wanted to know how to play a particular bass line, or study a particular technique, I'd save myself a shed load of money and go onto youtube and take my time watching the variety of technically proficient musicians demonstrating said techniques/tunes. I might even invest a bit of money in lessons, 1:1 with a tutor and learn/study a technique, etc. I'd want something different from a "masterclass" at a trade show. It's an opportunity to ask said musician questions on different things like, how they achieve a particular tone, what studio equipment did they use on a particular track, what is the musical relationship like with the drummer for instance. Or how did they write a particular bass part and many more similar non technique questions. Personally I'm not a fan of N.O. or that genre, but I think there's enough Hooky fans to warrant him giving a Masterclass. Stop with the "only the pyrotechnically gifted are worthy" none sense, please!
It's neither, nice looking bass though and for £60 if it's your bag it's a steel...have a bump on me
In the absence of pictures or model details, can you give an idea of which SX model it is? Be nice at least to get some spec of t'web. Thanks. -
I sometimes like to watch....... .....stuff on eBay as I might not have the money at that point, so spend a day or two scampering around to see if I can raise the required amount. It saves me doing another search.
If this was bought from Musical Express it is is the one you sold me John. Very nice bass but I wasn't playing it and it was too nice to sit around a work for lunch breaks. Congratulations on your new bass Pete, it certainly is a thing of beauty.
LOL! You're right Ed, it needs to be played in anger.
Hi, Thanks for info..............I bought it as a second bass to my American jazz, but now I feel as thought the Jazz is going to take a back seat ! Any info regarding the headstock shape, this one has the fender shape, but from bits of info that I have gained, it was stopped by Fender ? Pete
Yeah Pete, fender took exception to the headstock, so the later Blades have a slightly different headstock shape. The last one I owned had Ernie Ball cobalt strings on. Really seemed to suit the ebony board and really showed off the preamp. Enjoy!

I've owned 2. They are fab basses, high quality Japanese build, excellent components and the best necks, with beautiful ebony boards. The tonal options with the trim pots are far ranging. They are seriously underrated (unknown) and underpriced IMHO. If they had a passive option on the preamp and were a little lighter, I'd still have them. Good purchase! Also Gary Levinson is really helpful if you want any info on your bass.

This needs to be a sticky, "... That's the key when you're touring; just be a nice chap and have a good vibe about you. That's the way to get work. If you're a superb player, but a pain in the ***, you'll never get asked. The world is full of phenomenal musicians who are so up themselves that they are really difficult to be around. Being on the road with difficult people is really draining."
