1. Ok.... Stressed? - Yep! Played for over 30 years? - Yep! RSI? - Nope! - well that's blown that one out of the water - "Fear will get you in the end" - all reading this book will do is make a real health issue worse, and lower your bank balance by £5.00 Maybe if I read it, the nerves in my neck that are crushed beyond repair, will magically get better - A five quid book that can better the marvels of medical science - I don't think so This book just sounds like another one of those new-age fluffy bunny schemes to make money.....next thing he will tell us is that using a leach as a supository will cure in-grown toenails Anybody who would set up a website to "spread the word" about this miricle cure is obviously a danger to society - an idiotic scheme like this could do irreprable damage to dozens of people who actually believe this BS.

hello to all

Hello, and welcome to the forum. I would suggest you have a look at the "for sale" section here......way more bang for your buck than buying new, and I can't remember hearing any horror stories about getting ripped off.
3. Hello, and welcome to the forum. Fell free to ask anything - there is a wealth of knowledge living in the heads of the members here, and they are only too happy to help someone out.
4. I Parted with a '73 Precision around 30 years ago - was really sad to see it go. The only thing that made it easier to bear was the fact it was sunburst
5. Hello, and welcome to the forum. I'm sure you will find much to interest you here.
6. Hello, and welcome to the forum.
7. I would agree with most of what has already been said, and perhaps the best thing would be to see if any of the band are up for starting afresh.......failing that try starting your own band - that way you have more control over your/the bands development. I'm afraid the situation you are in comes to a lot of musicians at some time or other...and you just need to weather the storm. I had intended to come along to the Varsity to suppot you, as it's only a few minutes up the road.....maybe next time. I hope you find some worthy musicians to work with soon....
8.
Both of those are really entry level instruments that you'd expect to find in a "with amp" package. Your £200 would get you a Squier Vintage Modified or Classic Vibe mint and used on the for sale pages on here. Or for just a little more, say £30 extra, you can get a new Ibanez SR300. That's a serious lot of bass for the money.
I must agree with you there....the RBX along with the Ibanez GSR 180, really are entry level. The extra few pounds to by a new VMJ. (if you can't get one from the "For Sale" pages), would be money well spent. The build quailty is excellent, and even the stock electrics do more than a passable job. The Peavy Grind I tried once, just didn't feel right - nice tone, but there was something I couldn't take to - but that is a personal thing. OTPJ's suggestion of the SR300 is sound advice - that is a damn fine bass. The only way you are going to find what is right for you, is to try out as many as you can - don't worry about the price tag at the moment - once you have shortlisted what you like, then start looking around for ones that fit your budget.
9. I remember drooling over the Gibson Ripper that was on display in a local guitar shop when I was younger, I could justify it at the time, but never afford it - now I can afford it, I can't justify it - typical. But if these are as good as I have heard - it may be a solution to decades of unfulfilled GAS - after all, what's in a name
10. The design you have used is not really my cup of tea.....BUT, the standard of work there is excellent. I like the sound of the vine design - if that goes ahead, please share it with us. You do realise the business opportunity the two of you cou have here? - even just as a way to make a bit of extra cash.
11. I used to cut a pick shape out of the bottom of the old plastic 35mm film canisters. Thick enough to give a heavy sound, but flexible enough to be able to play quite fast..... must try it again, and see if it still feels and sounds as good
12. There is a sticky about it here More than enough info to get you started. Although it is a couple of years since it was started and things have changed a bit - but I'm sure some-one will be along soon to add some more up to date information for you to digest.
13.
I like studio albums, they show what a band can do in a studio. I like live performances, you get a one-night-only version. I'd rather live stays live and it's for the people who were there.
Generally, I agree with this......but there is one exception that I can think of, off the top of my head - and that is Rush's "All The Worlds A Stage". Whilst I like the preceeding studio albums, they seemed to lack something, but live! The true potential and power of some of the songs, really shone through. For me - the "live" experience is both aural and visual......take one away and it's not the same - like watching a live video with the sound down - it's out of context!!!!!
14. Realistically, at the end of the day, only you can make the final call..... If you really are not happy with it, then go for a refund - if you are not overly bothered about getting the work done, then persue the issues with the seller, and try and come to an amicable agreement regarding some sort of recompense. Ask yourself a few questions and base your next move on the answers - 1. Was the price you paid, really that good. 2. Would the money you saved - with or without additional recompense from the seller - easily cover the cost of repairs....will it still be the bargain you thought 3. Do you think the bass will ever be able to be what you wanted whatever you decide to do - good luck

Hello

Hello, and welcome to the forum.

hey

Hello, and welcome to the forum. I should think there are many people on here who started with a "crappy" bass, but like everything else, it takes a little time and effort to find out what works for you - I still have my first bass from around 37 years ago - and I still play it from time to time. I don't have any personal experience of the Ashton range, but if memory serves me correctly, there was a thread in the Build Diaries section, where some-one used one as the starting point for a home custom project. Take care, keep practicing and make sure you delve into the theory - it's the only way to improve
17. Hello, and welcome - come on in - sit down - have alook around - but most of all......have fun!
18. Hello, and welcome to the forum. Nice story - and nice era..... I'll probably never play live again (for various reasons) but I have so much fun playing with myself - that I don't miss it too much! What software do you use - I've found Propellerheads Reason, along with a small arsenal of Refills (samples), a wonderful tool - great for messing about with, and for seriously trying to put stuff together - even if it is for my own personal enjoyment.
19. Good find - thank you for sharing

Hi Folks

Hello, and welcome to the forum. Yep! gotta love the sound and feel of a "P"
22. I have played one of these, and to my mind, it felt like a standard P neck. I use an Aerodyne P, which has a Jazz neck, so there was quite a difference between the two - But it still felt really comfortable. The sound was very traditional P bass. Construction was very good, no gaps between the neck and body. Essentially looked, felt and played great, with a really low action. I really am tempted by that Honey Blonde one.
23. Helllo, and welcome to the forum. I am sure you will find plenty here to occupy any spare seconds you may have left, in between everything else. I take it the avatar is based on one of the pictures from your tutorials on "how NOT to do it"
24. I like it....... Ok, let me go a little deeper....... I admit that I listened to it on a laptop, so the speakers do not really do the song justice, but the quality of the recording was obvious. the whole thing was well thought out with some very nice guitar work, good song structure, intelligent lyrics. You seem to imply that the bass work was a secondary consideration and was essentially improvised, but it doesn't come across like that at all....Guitar and bass seem to sit together just right. I personally do not have a problem with people using drum machines instead of live drums - as long as they are used well - too many people don't seem to be able to put enough work into the programming, and tend towords robotic and repetative beats, and while these have their place, can often detract from an otherwise good track - you seem to have put some thought and effort into it, and it pays off, although fairly simplistic, it works very well indeed. Vocals - nice melody line, well sung....what else I can say. In all - an interseting song - well recorded, and reminded me of some-one else I used to listen to, but I'm buggered if I can remember who. Anyway - thank you for that, an enjoyable and interesting diversion in my day.....in fact, I think this is the first thing I have played that has been posted on the forum, where the other half has actually commented that she likes it.....
