1. Hi there, and welcome to BassChat.....I'm sure you will make many new friends here.
2. Hi, and welcome to the forum... I'm sure someone will have the answer to your quandry.. I'm fairly new here too, and I have found this bunch to be really friendly....have fun
3. I have 2 big regrets - I turned down a chance to do an apprenticeship in piano tech - every part from restoring the woodwork, metal frame mechanics to restringing and tuning (which can still be a very lucrative business) - This in turn led me to be unemployed for a couple of years, and finance got so bad I had to sell my '73 P bass, Marshall 100 valve and 3 4x12 cabs for the rediculous sum of £325. The other was doing some really stupid jobs which led to the health problems which now plague me, and have had a major impact on my ability to play. Still.....we live and learn
4. Thank Grumble....just make sure it's after Christmas . I have a feeling this may become another communal bass, owned by just about everybody on the forum during it's life,

6.
Hi Terry its a nice bass, quite surprised me with its tone actually. There is always another mate....
Yes there is.....but will it ever appear at that sort of price, I did try to get my son to cough up the cash for this, but he thinks that as I got him into playing bass....I should cover all his costs ....Really it would be something as an introduction to fretless, for both me and my son.....so it wouldn't have to be expensive, or classy.....simple with a low action..... Who knows if I take to it....a Picobass fretless may be on order in the future. Oh!....an congratulations on the divorce Grumble.....I'll ask PED if we can start a support group for you.
7.
No one going for a last minute snipe?
What do you think this is E-bay..... Paul is probobly aware why I haven't had pop at this, but normally he would have had friction burns from the speed I would have grabbed this.

Hi and welcome, I'm sure you will enjoy it here.......
For ease of reading in the future, you might want to locate the full stop button on your keyboard...
mind you.....I think I use mine enough for everybody.....
9. I love the fact that they have a Rock & Roll model - Just because it's black......and yes some seriously fugly designs there As has been pointed out - who, in their right mind, would pay over 2 grand to wear some thing that looks like last nights kebab.
10. At the age of 18, having a piece of card put in my grubby hands by my father, which turned out to be a ticket - costing, IIRC, 1 Great British Pound - to see Eric Clapton live at.....The Gala Swimming Baths, West Bromwich!!!!!! My father worked there for many years before his death, and it was his job to supervise the load in, load out, security and locking up at the end of that night. Support was The Muddy Waters Blues Band - who, incidently, out-played and out-performed EC. Anyway at the end of the night I was standing talking to may father, Eric Clapton walked past and out without a word.....Muddy Waters came up to us....we didn't have a clue what he wanted, thought he may want directions to the toilet, a pub or the local whorehouse.....he pushed a couple of coins into my fathers hand, and thanked him for having him there......then he turned to me, shook my hand and thanked me for coming to see him with the words, "without people like you, there wouldn't be people like me". I have nothing but respect for that kind of attitude....

16.
My Rush phase lasted about five years; started off with the first live album (All The World's A Stage), after which I naturally dug into their back catalogue - Rush/Fly By Night/Caress of Steel/2112 - and carried on through to the second live album (...Exit Stage Left) which has to have the worst production of any Rush album and kind of turned me off off them. (I don't know whether it's been remixed on subsequent reissues.) For me, the first live album has everything you would ever need to know about the guy's playing...that sound, the fluidity of the playing, the runs, the way he works/worked off Neil Peart, plus, the sleeve is great! By comparison the studio albums it draws from are very lightweight affairs and this displays the material with a completely different dynamic. For my 14 year old ears, it was all a bit mental. And drawing from that album, it has to be Bytor and The Snow Dog that's the highlight. P
This really sums up my thoughts on the whole debate ...My introduction was the first album - Rush - which while enjoyable, seemed too Zeppelinish....but the later offerings of Fly By Night, Caress Of Steel and 2112, were much more what I had been hoping for. These charted the early develpment of Geddy's style and tone. With the release of All The World's A Stage....the potentiial classics on these albums, were given a much needed kick in the ass....and to my mind these tracks never sounded better. I really stopped listening to Rush around the time of Moving Pictures - this and later albums just did not appeal to me.....though there were some notable tracks, such as Red Sector A, Distant Early Warning, The Enemy Within and New World Man. I finally gave up with them when I heard Power Windows. As I said, Rush through to Moving Pictures really define the period where Geddy developed and perfected his sound and style, and anyone who wants to see the full story....should just work their way through these.
17. Hello.... Welcome to the forum. I'm sure you will find plenty to interest you here.... You have some fine acts over there....Alain Bashung, Noir Desir, H.F. Thiefaine, Yann Tiersen..... the list goes on....and on.
18. That's not a conversion, that's butchery....... It's just wrong!!!!!!!!!
19. This could be used to great effect... Buy another 'P'bass and when confronted with the "What have you bought another bass for", comments....you can smile sweetly and say, "It's not a new one.....I just had the red one refinished, because I didn't like the colour....."

New here!

Hi agin ali63... Welcome to the forum, I am sure you will find plenty of thing to divert your attention from real life. ....just keep away from the for sale section, unless you want to end penniless and living in an old 4x12 cab Terry
21. Good luck with the gig..... I don't mind a bit of metal....but I'm nott too keen on the tame grizzly bear approach.... Had a quick listen anyway, and I do like the way the second voice kicks in during "We are the now"...., an nice contrast. Terry
22. Well.....to be honest, I can only think of two reasons tahat this singer/guitarist/....er person, would pull you..... 1. he was afraid that your band would outshine his & 2. he didn't like your music..... seen it before many years ago at a town hall gig.....main band didn't like support.....pulled them....then tried to get each of the supoort band to pay the entrance fee to the gig..... There were only about 5 people and a dog in the room, and I bet they tried to get the dog to pay. Had to ask my other half what scunnered meant.....yes....she's a weegie Terry
23. Hi ali63 It is generally regarded as Polite Proper Protocol, to create a new thread in the introduce yourself section so that you can tell us all about yourself, and be welcomed by anyone who happens to pass through there. MODS: I know thise thread is for understanding the lingo - but I thought a friendly pointer to a new member was polite. - this can be deleted later.
24.
Ok where can I get one of those SX bass's in the UK? >.<
I would like to know too. I have seen pictures of these, and they do look rather nice. When I've sorted out the Picobass, that I've asked Prosebass on this forum to build, I may look into one of these....Or see if he could do a short scale P.....smaller body.....maybe evan a headless version...... :brow: I'll go and hide now, untill people have forgot why they want to slap me. Terry.
