  1. Holidaying in Italy... I'd parked the car in a town car park while we wandered around, this was what I found on my return. Bloody Italians. >:( Luckily I managed to get in through the passenger door and scramble across. I may have accidentally scrawled the word 'TWÀT' in foot high letters in the dust on his bonnet before I left.

Should've written stronzo, but maybe they'll have to Google silly billy, which will be much more fun.

  2. Shuttle 9.2 incoming...

      From the manual:

      Quote
When driving the power amp hard, the result is increased heft and girth while maintaining the dynamics and articulation of individual notes.

That's where I've been going wrong.  I've been going for heft when I should have been paying more attention to my girth!

  3. I've had a busy working week, I've got a busy day tomorrow and a gig in the evening. All I want today is a bit of chilling time sat on me jacksy. Is that too much to ask?

    Apparently yes, it is... >:(

      No rest for the wicked...😈😈

  4. Fired rig up earlier. Rack compressor dead. Not a thing. Damn.

Grumpy face on. Start playing. Sound is feckin gorgeous :) happy face on.

So, that's going to be an empty 1U space then

Empty space? I leapt on a TC C300 going cheap the other day. Bargain and brilliant!

  5. Hidden gems on BBC Sounds #1: 'J Kingston Platt', a series of monologues by the brilliant Peter Jones. Gently hilarious.

Thanks for the tip! Was just reading up on him, I only new him as the voice of the Hitchiker's Guide. 'In all directions' sounds very promising too!

  6. Went to an Ed Byrne gig last night... postponed from March 2020 :o well worth the wait though, haven't laughed so much in ages.

He's really superb, isn't he? I think I must've caught one of the very last dates on that tour before it got called off!

  7. This morning my laptop has refused to communicate with tinternet for some reason. This is quite serious as it means I can't connect to the office servers and will therefore be unable to do any work today (phone is ok hence this post). I've tried everything I can think of but unfortunately even after much swearing and bashing of keys...

    ...it's started working perfectly.

Damn. *puts bass down again* >:(

...and everything was going perfectly till it started working again.

  8. Outdoor gig today... I'm gonna fry 😰

    But hey, it's a gig 😃

I'd rather fry than get wet.

  9. A bit of tweakage to my JayRay fretless. As it was based on an OLP 'Ray, it was originally passive... I'd intended to either buy a Stinger preamp or make one on vero, but then I rediscovered the 2-band EQ from my old Yamaha RBX765 lurking in the spares box, so I've fitted that instead. I'd forgotten how powerful a preamp it is. Absolutely brought it to life. I love tinkering with stuff, especially when it turns out as well as this has.

Tried it out at rehearsal last night. Overjoyed with how it sounded through my main rig. ❤️

  10. Marcus Rashford's twitter feed today has been glorious. The sort of thing that restores your faith in humanity.

  11. A study by the Institute Of Incomplete Research has found that 6 out of 10 people.

      I believe that.

  13. Another lockdown tweak done... added a HF tweeter and crossover to my wee Behringer 60w 1x12 rehearsal combo. Mud, begone! :D

  14. On my hols in Italy at the moment... I was on a bus in Capri yesterday and got chatting to the young British couple sitting next to me... turns out they're from the same village near Reading that I was born/brought up in.

It's a small world. Wouldn't want to paint it though...

  15. Another gig bites the dust, and this one hurts... the One Love Festival in Kent, in August. Absolutely gutted. I was really looking forward to this one.

I feel your pain Rich, we've lost three festivals too. A brand new band for me as well.

I would say it gives me longer to learn the set but in reality, all it does is delay the inevitable last minute cramming and busking to a bit later in the year.

  16. NSD (New Stuff Day) -- brilliant new Hercules stand, courtesy of my wonderful daughter. :)

Excellent,   I have a few of their little foldy  ones.

  17. As if I didn't feel old enough already...

I've just found out that later this year I'm becoming a great-great-uncle.

    Jeeves, bring my zimmer frame.

  18. These bloody celebrity gardeners are all liars. I saw one a while back advising us that horse manure would make strawberries tastier and more juicy. In reality, it does nothing to improve them at all.
I'm going back to double cream and I'd advise everyone else to do likewise.

  19. Listening to The Beat's "Ranking Full Stop" with a view to working it into the ska band's set. It's never struck me before just how much the lyric sounds like "ranking foolscap"...

  20. Frost* at Komedia in Bath earlier...

    Milliontown... oh my GOD.

  21. It's annual new-strings time for the V7. Woohoo! Elixir nickels FTW.

  22. Reminder: The politics-free policy applies to status updates too. Thank you.

  23. High winds 1, runner bean plants nil. 😠
