  1. I understand both processes were to replicate the vibration ageing of wood as if played for many many years and the drying of the woods as one would find in a vintage bass so ‘played in’ feel might be a slight misnomer - rolled edges on a neck would more easily create the ‘feel’ of an older well played bass. These processes treated the wood to ‘respond’ like an older ‘vintage’ pieces of wood. It’s interesting they stopped one of the treatments...🤔
  2. Congrats! I hear good things about them.
  3. I was really hoping it was a puppy.
  4. I’d like to thank everyone who bought the stuff I was gasing for. It’s all been snapped up and the temptation is gone. Phew! Thanks to the bc community once again😀
  5. I love a festive thriller 😀 * I hope it’s a puppy 🐶
  6. Spill the bean. I’m guess there’s a hint in there somewhere.
  7. Those Dingwall’s are fab. And some folks say a P should only be a four string 😃
  8. Yup I’m another pull/push/twist all controls and dials ever since getting a coil tapped guitar in my youth. Always worth a fiddle and a twist I say!
  9. So new toys incoming already 😀
  10. As I mentioned I’ve some NJ4’s in my jazz and they’re good. I was after Aguilar 60’s winds but very happy with Nordstrand’s. They made a very affordable bass sound great and for not very much money used via the for sales on here. I’m in no rush to change them for anything else.
  11. The Fender CS 59 I’ve used before and it’s just a really solid pick up. As with most decent pick ups depending on the tone control it does all the classic p sounds from thump to clank. Heard the Schecter in the MA bass - The Circle record ‘live in the room’ and while I known there’s gonna be amp and eq etc the bass sounds great and on paper at least might do the trick. Final one is a bit of a punt but again has some good press but again on paper has potential. Sometimes it’s good to take a chance as some of the words used to describe tones can end up being ridiculous! Try reading a Nordstrand blurb about their pick ups. Complete nonsense and this is from someone who has some NJ4’s in a jazz! 🤣
  12. Bring the amp with you and I’ll offer a swap for either of my fender heads 😀
  13. The beauty of trying out p pick ups is that Tm you can always easily move them on/find alternatives to try out pretty easily.
  14. Cheers. I had someone asking about shipping costs earlier in an unrelated matter and I genuinely had no idea. I’d extimated a few hundred dollars shipping and import costs.
  15. Not bad! With taxes on top tho?
  16. Out of interest what sort of average cost is it to send a bass (neck off) to the U.K. from the USA? I’m guessing there might be some import taxes too?
  17. Bought this from BC a few weeks back ... Was gonna do a 51 style p bass but I’ve nabbed some other pick ups and the idea has grown into a double p so no looking back! Pick is unused by me and includes a loom VT pre wired loom. Postage in the UK included. pics to follow
  18. To be honest I’m quite excited to try out some different pick ups in the particular bass and I’ll know form testing and listening which will work best. Plus the bass can accommodate a reverse p so even more fun to be had.
  19. I’ve just bought three pick ups from Talkbass. I doubt I’ll even hear a difference! 😀
  20. Comforting to know he was keen to honour pre Christmas orders. I’d say it would be worth the wait if they’re that in demand.
  21. They had to stop new orders before the holidays due to the amount of work they had on otherwise I might have a ‘58 ordered too.
  22. I think getting dissociative identity disorder (or good old fashioned split/multiple personality disorder) confused with someone having more than one log in are different things. There have been threads about loneliness and depression/low mood which does seem to attract a more sympathetic tone but mental health in the context of personality disorders of indeed dissociative identity disorders (as a result of trauma, combat stress etc) are still fair game for banter. So long as folk are discussing it right! I don’t believe for one minute someone with multiple accounts is struggling with their mental health I’m simply interested in their motivations.
  23. I’ve heard some folk describe the previous BB’s as being quite aggressive and not Fender-like at all but equally as bloated and not traditional. These current iterations have been described as ‘weak’ but then also as more vintage and organic as mentioned above. I suppose it is the internet so...
