  1. It’s a great body shape, concentric controls and that pick up upgrade should look ‘period correct’ as well as deliver that more characteristic 51 sound. I feel like I’m talking myself into it😀
  2. A very nice man in Paisley is selling one such Squier bass. I’d personally vouch for @jezzaboy having had some dealings with him. I was tempted to take this from him as I have those split j pick ups in my go to jazz, also a Squier (CV) which is cracking value for money!
  3. You could nab the Squier mentioned in the above post and add the split j pick ups and you’d be pretty close but obviously not with a true 51 style look.
  4. What a wonderful piece of wood. So characterful. The recessed tuners are a nice touch as I know a thicker headstock can add to the overall tone. It makes perfect sense to have the recess and maintain that extra wood.
  5. Plus he’ll be knowledgeable about spec config etc Anothergo to option search YouTube for the spec. Someone is bound to have a video up if the spec you want is made.
  6. Bass direct or Anderton’s would be a good bet too
  7. Looks like someone will be buying anorher Spector in the near future😀
  8. They might offer pj but in a soap bar config - depends on whether the aesthetic of the pj is the deal breaker.
  9. A lot of fenders for sale too... My guess is that the sandbergs might be ‘worth more’ in resale and folks are probably happy enough to hang on to a cheaper decent bass if they’re trying to get some cash during this pandemic. Ironically others might be selling off their fenders as it’s a more widely recognised brand and want to keep the better quality basses they own if they can. Who knows?
  10. Contact Meridian and who knows they might sort you out.
  11. I tend not to abbreviate names too much but saying P and J is pretty expeditious when referring to a bass i.e. saying pass me the .... P. It’s like some said recently abbreviations in language or especially typing usually save time. An example I confess 9 keystrokes must ‘fess 11 keystrokes. Odd right!
  12. G&L pick ups are known for their high output and the reason they’re not as popular IMO is that while folks love them they can be harder to tame due to that output. As to blends they’re grand I suppose but having VVT can be even more of a fiddle as not all tone tapers are the same. Obviously we all get to know the sweet spots and I set my pots to all line up at a blend position I like so while both on full doesn’t look right I know once those pots are in line it’s where I like the blend on the VVT bass. Some simple wee ‘hacks’ can make certain tone recall a bit easier.
  13. It removes dead spots but what about bum notes? If it does I’m buying a laminate neck!
  14. Congrats. I’ve no doubt you’ll make solid use of it!
  15. The tones the guy gets on the demo are bangin and this would be my choice ifi needed these types of sounds and I've said it before but that drum groove is t-i-g-h-t!
  16. That’s the thing with some of these designs - there’s the novelty factor but when they cost ££££ it’s unlikely to appeal to most folks. I guess if they only made a certain amount they only have to appeal to X amount of folk/fanboi’s!
  17. I believe the Sandberg pick ups are designed to compliment each other rather than offer a ‘dead on’ MM tone. Basically the same as the last paragraph above.

    @Al Krow perfect for you!
  19. My bad for asking about your cab! Let’s hope it’s not another 11 months before the next update/GAS attack. Carry on!
  20. Just suggesting that a 4ohm cab would get the most out of the majority of heads taking into account max power handling/cab rating etc etc.
  21. Maybe a 4ohm cab would be a better single cab solution? That way you’ll get the most out of any head you decided to get down the line. Lots of great deals out there too!
  22. The BB2 will be the gigging cab of choice?
  23. What cab would you be using because at 8ohms with a two speaker cab you’ll still get plenty of air moving. If the Fearless is 4ohm that could likely handle such a head with ease!
  24. It’s a lot of money but it really does blow all other units away. The ability to split the signal into four and even have them affecting various eq bands is mighty interesting. OTT for my needs but would be fun to see what it can do!
