Especially for metal!
-
The guys at both companies will tell you it makes a difference and you’ll find employees sticking their instruments in the vibration machines - it’s not gonna do any harm right and if it makes your instrument ‘better’...!
-
Yamaha do this too. It’s basically they subject the finished bodies to vibrations which simulates ‘ X hours of playing’ and the thermal treatment is a process of drying to wood to recreate aging. Sandberg have worked with some local university’s to look at optimising the two processes. Yamaha unfortunately calls it I.R.A.

Like most ‘debates’ on Internet forums it’s a case of If you like it buy it if you don’t don’t. We can rationalise opinion or choice but ultimately the chat was about cost. We’ve had the Warwick price hike chat, the EBMM price chat, the new Fender Pro price chat. Sandberg are pretty market appropriate in their ‘regular’ range price before heat and vibration treatment, relic’ing etc. They make as strong and reliable a product as EBMM or other non fender brands. Have the detractors played one? Compared one to their fav brand? Had some actual time playing one of just decided they don’t like it? The internet eh! Proper ball ache!

A Fender for me at last, a Dimension Standard V HH

Yeah it does sound great - not too zingy but like it would be useful across the range of tones on offer. -

Ed Friedland(who else right) has a great demo of the 5er.... -
Price drop £210 posted U.K. I have an opportunity to pick up the Ultra model locally and I'm really excited to try the cab sim out for my live needs. So that means my AO is up for grabs. I'll get some pictures up later but the unit comes boxed and while there are some superficial marks on the case it all works just fine. For me it's the best sounding of the DG range and the ability to get a wide range of tones make it more versatile than some might expect from DG. Here's a link with more detail than I could remember https://www.darkglass.com/creations/alpha-omega/ This is a long video but there are good examples of how versatile this pedal can sound.

From yhe demo's I've heard I really like the sound of the passive HB's its odd possibly the magnets but its like the best qualities of modern but vintage tone - a little more crisp but still warm. The proof is in the playing of course. -

Looks good Hugh! Be nice to hear it with some different tone stack settings and with a jazz bass. -

I’m sure many DG fans got turned on to trying a comp once the ss came out and maybe more will be drawn to the new features as the ss ceased production due to component shortages or maybe only the fan boi’s will upgrade. Not really that bothered either way frankly 😀 The TC might get more paragraphs and maybe for good reason. It’s cheaper and quite editable and overall good value for money. I think the pedals in the range are still stand alone for what they do and again fan boi’s aside people will gravitate to the model which fulfills their sonic peccadilloes.
-
It a great idea and I can see it being quite popular. When a company like DG gets behind a ‘mystery’ effect like compression I think many people will ‘back the brand’ and try it. Kinda like “Oh if these guys make it then maybe I do need it? sort of thing.

Phone them- much better than awaiting an email. -
Yeah I'm all ears for this thing - I love what it does and can imagine it being a staple in any Cure tribute band or for anyone playing a baritone. The drive on it does sound great but I'm only going byt the demo's I've heard not first hand experience.

In some interviews Mr Keeley talks about his comps - the one with Juan from Pedals and Effects (I believe the pedals on show were the bassist and bassist pro) and how he wanted it to sound good set ‘all knobs at noon’. This way if you were on a gig and your setting got changed, knocked etc all at noon would get the job done without being too much either way.

Buy a SS used, give it a few months to become ‘collectible’ and then buy two DG pedals with the cash 😛
