Price drop seen these go for £210 recently so I’ll drop this to £210 posted U.K.
  2. @Cuzzie and I have both played the sandberg SL. It’s a delight. I’m happy to debate this for some time. Carry on
  3. If in doubt listen to Hall and Oats That shoukd see you through the the personal crisis and help you over it!
  4. The workshop cedar?
  5. The sheer futility of it all. Thanks @Cuzzie you d i c k 😀😂
  6. Lordy! The musicality of it. Why sell a bass you sound so good on. Madness I say!
  7. I’m just grumpy and not afraid to show it 😀 My recent purchase wasn’t entirely ‘uninformed’ so while I haven’t played or owned this kit before it’s provenance or lineage was good enough to make the call and spend the cash. I kinda knew what I was getting in basic terms of output and the preamp at least however the proof of playing it is the joy. I could read a negative or positive opinion online and fall into the confirmation bias of the buyer but I’m confident enough in my knowledge and experience that it was worth the risk. Anyways that’s me off topic enough. Carry on with the debate!
  8. If you don’t trust the numbers walk away. No harm no foul.
  9. But so much of this stuff is in the ether and the guys who use it like it. Debates about this figure or that figure and whether it’s misleading or not become tedious as it becomes an opinion or a feeling but not based on any practical experience. My amp irrespective of ems or peak was a boss on the gig and I’m genuinely excited to play through it again and discover more of what it has to offer. Finally im cognisant of the ASA ( some close relatives have worked for Saatchi & Saatchi in the not too distant past) and their understanding of marketing and manipulation of the masses is frightening! Let’s hope they don’t get into politics!!
  10. Well it’s always good to have discussion but the few people who actually own and gig one say it’s fine. What else need’s to be said?
  11. I just bought an amp that said it was 600w I never thought to check if it was rms or peak. It’s never really occurred to do so but It was pretty loud at the gig when I plugged it in and played it. That’s sufficient proof for me. Folks are getting tied up in knots over a sub £300 amp because of an expectation or misrepresentation of the 2000w figure. What does your instinct say? We can defend the noob in a minute but what does your gut feeling lead you to think? Now I’ll ask have you played one at a gig? What’s your experience using this kit or is it simply postulation because...? Personally I look at the manual of new gear when I can. I’ve read manuals of gear I’ve never owned to get a feel for gear but I was very poor and very aspirational in terms of what I wanted to own and play😀Folks who know me on here can attest to that. I’m not one to believe marketing and I can ‘kinda’ figure out what an eq might do from the frequencies/features etc...kinda. Ten pages in and there’s still all this wasted energy on what it might do. I think the folk who own these heads state that they work on the gig? For those with the means buy one and test it on a gig and send it back for a refund if you don’t like it. If you just want to argue over the things a company might put in an advert well then you’re probably wasting your own time.
  12. I’ve a p with a single t bird pick up more or less in the classic p position and a tone styler. It’s a cracking sounding bass!
  13. You try testing a 500w amp at full pelt in the family home in a Sunday. I dare ya 😀
  14. No it wouldn’t 😂😉 You’re severely overthinking it @Al Krow its a decent sub £300 head which will do the job most gigging bassists require of it. Does it do 2000w? I doubt it but few amps do without near perfect conditions. Go back and read the TC electronic stuff from years about misleading output figures - no different from VW and it’s emissions numbers on paper. Is it loud enough for a gig? The evidence would suggest so. Luckily one could buy three or four as rolling back ups over the years and probably have little to worry about.
  15. If I may..: how the tone stack interacts in ags mode might we’ll be useful in understanding how the controls on the head are interacting. It might not appear much use on the surface but that post (the bulk of information within is not my own work I was simply pointing someone in the right direction) has a great explanation of the interactivity of the controls and how their function ’alters’ in AGS mode. I’ve not used the TH head but I do have the TH pre amp pedal on my board and the controls do behave differently in AGS mode, actually as described in the information linked above. If you can try out what’s suggested in that link it may help and pay particular attention to how the mids sound. There is a massive difference in the TH pedal ‘clean’ and with AGS engaged. My understanding is the TH head reacts like the TH preamp with the AGS engaged. It’s a good read!
  16. I don’t doubt the quality but I think the 50w ampeg may well be much less expensive...even at full price.
  17. Yes, yes I do!
  18. The 48’s as standard have a p neck and power bucker bridge pick up config under the shiny covers.
  19. You could run this into the fx of any amp and thus bypass the amps eq and have the control and warmth of this preamp. It likely won’t ‘drive’ power ampon its own.
  20. I our one of these T Bird pick ups into a P bass. They sound great! Tol bloke to deal with and all his gear is top notch. Oh the jealousy 😀
  21. Not in the market for a new amp but these are fantastic. Big meaty transformers (if it's anything like the Fender TB power amps) and a cracking pre amp!
  22. These are great and not ‘just’ a clean boost. Three band eq, buffer and it internally boosts the voltage from a 9v supply. If you wanna inject a little sumthin sumthin this will bring some life to your passive basses.
