1. I would say the V-Type would be the way forward as well... ...I was after a BSP for ages - they dont turn up very often sadly. And when they do they tend to have US power transformers. So I gave up and bought an SVT 5, which basically is the BSP with another amp in it. lol
2. Birth date stamp - Cool! What a find!
3. BassCat got hold of a Squier P recently in white (very Sid) that sounded phat as phuq at his gig that I attended last week. So much so I thought it had a far better in yer face thump than his normal axe (MIM Precision), and both were used in the same night so it was quite easy to compare the two...

Tapping

Hmmm... I may have to look into getting Washburn set very low to see if it makes a difference (dont want to fiddle with my gigging axes at the mo). Cheers for all the suggestions chaps!
5. Good evening peoples. Ive been very lazy on the bass recently. Not many gigs (left one band, other one only does a gig every few months). But now the missus does Spanish lessons on Monday and is out on Tuesday, so im forcing myself (gently!) to get back on tha 4-string thang on these otherwise "free" nights other than improving my Playstation 3 trophies list. So... ive got a bit of my mojo back (cheers for that one Cole/Tweedy woman) and now want to push on a bit. Which has led me to tapping. Can anyone tell me if my action / guitar etc are simply not suited to it? Im using my Ric or my P-Bass. I would say both have a reasonably high action, certainly the Ric due to the Pick-Up-Cover-Of-Stupidness getting in the way of the strings... im thinking perhaps the tension on my strings is a bit too much on the Fender is a bit too much as well - by that i mean the strngs are rather taut/tight/something else beginning with "T". Or (shudder) Im rubbish / a weakling! I feel like im really having to wallop my right hand down onto the fretboard to firstly even get the string against the board, and secondly to get a proper audible note out of it. Any hints or tips would be appreciated. I know its a hard technique as techniques go... and I think im possibly making it harder for myself. Cheers m' dears
6. Id certainly have it for £650!
7. http://www.vintageandrareguitars.com/web/o...asses/item/7133 What on EARTH happened to the edges of the headstock on this... why did someone do it? Its... weird... and the colour! Weird. weird. weird.
8. I like this a lot. Really thought about considering a Spector recently after trying one in a local shop, lovely easy to play neck and a body that you can "get around" nicely. Pretty light too IMO
9. Calling Shaggy!!! hehe!!! Its even in Wales!
10. cool! i would love this! Although of course I wouldnt tell anyone that I played it, with such weeny thin strings.
11. Ive ran the amp for an hour and it seems OK with the holes in the case now :-) I love my amp again teehee.
12. Im still surprised this hasnt gone... but I suppose there aint a lot of cashola out there for many people at the moment
13. Well gentlemen.... Two big holes have been cut in the side of my SKB now with a jigsaw. Ill mount the amp at the weekend and levae it running for a while and report back. Hopefully I wont die, or anything. Ps JT that is an amazing avatar. my word.
14. I had the old 1510x Series 6 cab with an AH300 SMC on top of it. Bloody amazing sound. Suited my Ric perfectly. Only got rid of it due to the odd dimensions of said cab! Trace is stuff I would seriously consider again (perhaps a V-Type pre for my SV.... no no no NO NO GASSSS stop it)
15. yeah... ive considered that as well... but that would be a solution that I would hope would work efficiently otherwise im stuck with a case with a load of drill holes in the side hehe.
16. blimey, a cab that can handle my amp at full grunt and isnt the weight of a house... wish i had the cash for this! Have a free bump
17.
Very Stevie Wonder-esque.
that's what I was trying to put my finger on... good shout sir.
18. I have got hold of a jigsaw but I think ill killmyself with it, plus the handles are moulded ones over the top of the area I need to cut... not sure what to do! Do you know what model / make of case that is Wayne? I dont mind buying a new case and taking the side off at each gig, thats a minor thing compared to sawing my arms (and then the handle of the case) off.
19. Ive got one of these! I sold it and then bought it back cos I missed it. I also made £25 out of buying it back, amazingly...! Ive done hundreds of gigs with mine, still sounds the business. The comment about the neck dive is right tho, its ridiculous - keep a hand on the headstock at all times! I use it now alomst exclusively for gigs where an odd tuning is required (most recently its been my "QOTSA" bass). Mine is the flame quilted top finish tho. Although I have to see I really like it in black... but the finish on mine is so nice I wouldnt get it refin'd... no matter how many pick scratches are down the front of it... and there are a lot considering this was my first "real" bass :-) A lovely job by your luthier, thanks for the little trip down memory lane as well...!
20. Just to "let the cat out of the bag" somewhat, the bass Mr Shaggy is GAS'sing for is my Gibson, which im only considering letting go to fund a certain type and colour of bass that has appeared on BC, hence why I why I have not put it up for sale here. The Gibson isnt for sale - unless its to Greg, as I know he will give it a loving home! It appears that the seller of the bass that im looking at may be going down the eBay route... so I would not be selling my Gibson in this case (as the bass I want would have "got away" on eBay) - then I presume all bets would be off on this glorious Rick FL that Shaggy is selling here. So if you want this bass you may want to make an offer for it as it may not be around on here much longer - Shaggy is a top guy to deal with (as confirmed by others above) so deal with confidence. :-)
21. bloody hell... well done them! Great deadline day signing...
22. I used to play that one before I left my band (and sing the harmony... eek) - great number to play!
23. Ah yeah... I saw this on the Tool Band FB Page - very cool! Remarkable collection of FX, love his fuzz tone.
24. I would be all over this if I was not *sort of* in the process of buying another bass. Lovely lovely bass, in immaculate nick... I remember perving about these when they first appeared in Bassist magazine ages ago. Have a free bump, even if it is not necessary.
