1. blimey, a cab that can handle my amp at full grunt and isnt the weight of a house... wish i had the cash for this! Have a free bump
2.
Very Stevie Wonder-esque.
that's what I was trying to put my finger on... good shout sir.
3. I have got hold of a jigsaw but I think ill killmyself with it, plus the handles are moulded ones over the top of the area I need to cut... not sure what to do! Do you know what model / make of case that is Wayne? I dont mind buying a new case and taking the side off at each gig, thats a minor thing compared to sawing my arms (and then the handle of the case) off.
4. Ive got one of these! I sold it and then bought it back cos I missed it. I also made £25 out of buying it back, amazingly...! Ive done hundreds of gigs with mine, still sounds the business. The comment about the neck dive is right tho, its ridiculous - keep a hand on the headstock at all times! I use it now alomst exclusively for gigs where an odd tuning is required (most recently its been my "QOTSA" bass). Mine is the flame quilted top finish tho. Although I have to see I really like it in black... but the finish on mine is so nice I wouldnt get it refin'd... no matter how many pick scratches are down the front of it... and there are a lot considering this was my first "real" bass :-) A lovely job by your luthier, thanks for the little trip down memory lane as well...!
5. Just to "let the cat out of the bag" somewhat, the bass Mr Shaggy is GAS'sing for is my Gibson, which im only considering letting go to fund a certain type and colour of bass that has appeared on BC, hence why I why I have not put it up for sale here. The Gibson isnt for sale - unless its to Greg, as I know he will give it a loving home! It appears that the seller of the bass that im looking at may be going down the eBay route... so I would not be selling my Gibson in this case (as the bass I want would have "got away" on eBay) - then I presume all bets would be off on this glorious Rick FL that Shaggy is selling here. So if you want this bass you may want to make an offer for it as it may not be around on here much longer - Shaggy is a top guy to deal with (as confirmed by others above) so deal with confidence. :-)
6. bloody hell... well done them! Great deadline day signing...
7. I used to play that one before I left my band (and sing the harmony... eek) - great number to play!
8. Ah yeah... I saw this on the Tool Band FB Page - very cool! Remarkable collection of FX, love his fuzz tone.
9. I would be all over this if I was not *sort of* in the process of buying another bass. Lovely lovely bass, in immaculate nick... I remember perving about these when they first appeared in Bassist magazine ages ago. Have a free bump, even if it is not necessary.
10. Most of Knights Of Cydonia is all root stuff, yet it modulates a couple of times and is an interesting line to play.
11. I so want that burgundy one...
12.
Yes, plus one million! - If you give me a few days I'll have something else to bring to the table as well ) Would be fun to hear the LH through your brutal SVT 6x10!!
I want biscuits, but only if they have SVT stamped on them. SVT Ginger Nuts... you heard it here first... im copyrighting that RIGHT NOW.
13. dont think we need to take my cab fella, just the SVT. SVT SVT SVT SVT amp. Yes
14. Does this mean we have to take my SVT in the car Dan? Did i mention that I have an SVT An SVT! yes, an SVT. SVT. Yes. SVT.
15. My feeling on the whole playing a vintage bass thing is.... it probably already got a few knocks on it already. Use it. Gig it. It's what it was made to do. If it's spotless with no dents, refin etc etc then yeah, keep it for investment... but a "player's bass" (as they so like to call the knocked up ones in vintage shops) is actually IMO a great piece of terminology - I use my '72 LP at gigs that suit it and I love it. A "player's bass". Its for playing. Enjoy it.
16. My case wont allow for this sadly, wot case you got Wayne?
17. dan... I think we need to A/B the SVT and the LH1000. Just for shits and giggles. Plus it gives an opportunity for us to eat biscuits.
18. Ive got the g*itar version of this for my occasional 6-string acoustic duo appearances, lovely things, deep sound! Free bump on me.
19. Further to that my SVT has the fan and vents rather stupidly at the side. This is stupid, stupid I tell thee. However it is an SVT and therefore is better than anything that weighs under 6cWt. So nerrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.
20. I forgot to post on this before Yes ill come Dan can you drive though lol
21.
I have a Valve in my amp. It's great. I love it. Valves are brilliant. Even when they aren't conducting.
I second this And mine's an Ampeg Please dont hate me
22.
Mine was better.
indeedy.
23. Erm, I have a Rickenbacker 4001 and an SVT amp. And I play loudly and with lots of treble. With a cabinet which also has SVT written on it. Shall I get my coat?
24. 6 for me, all completely different!
