1. The new Digitech bass whammy does changed tunings which is cool! (Troy Sanders from Mastodon uses one, though i've found very little on them on the internet and IMHO actually changing the tuning on the bass sounds better (not slagging the pedal thats just to my ears! The pedal is very good!) but practicallity sometimes needs a front seat!) Also No one Knows and Hysteria are in the same tuning so no worries Sounds like we have similar taste! I tend to do everything on one bass if i can, but more or less i just use the 6er and i'm set! Hipshot Xtender may be worth a mention though for whole tunings like you like obviously it's not much use unless you used 4 of them but then all basses i've seen with that have been designed for it (and massive headstocks!)
 2. You call the SPB-3 an upgrade? Kidding! Best of luck with the sale! I'd have this off you if i had enough money Best to you!
 3. As always there is no "best bass" or "best for" anything in the music world really I'd personally say the P but thats me as i like P-basses over Jazz basses It's down to preferance and what you like in a sound and in the overall mix. For industrial rock (i've played industrial rock and metal and it's all about sounding edgy and i've never found Geddy Lee style edge worked but thats IME and IMHO!) i'd use something with alot of punch, and choose soapbars ideally but of the two i'd say the precision ^ All IME, IMHO and of course YMMV I hope we don't have more "best... for..." threads or we'll end up like *that* bass forum (Shudder)
 4.
The LH5000 will be the Dood signature version ha ha!!
Haha! Knowing you Dood it would have an Earthquake control instead of volume, and be measured on the Richter scale not in decibels!
 5.
The tone fingerstyle and slap sounds awsome on this older TRB.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uRbmvkzvUII
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V43Y11jjtfo...feature=related Check out that too
There's a great midrange tone to these basses that seems quite unique to TRBs.
Yeah, definately, thats why i like them so much!
 6. Whats the scale length? That thing is niiiceee
 7.
Ordered my LH5000 from Guitar Amp Keyboard, today £269, should be here by Friday tea time they say I will probably buy that valve just to see the difference, as i have never had any valve stuff before, apart from old radios and a Fidelity record player. (the one in this pic. yes i am that old) Now just got to save for the Barefaced can i want, unless... er no forget it
LH5000? Jeez that must be loud Seriously though, enjoy! I'm keen to try one of these out so may take the plunge when i have a little more dough!
 8.
Correct me if I'm wrong but Paul Grey played a warwick thumb for a great deal more time than he was on ibanezes?
He definately used a Jackson for a while too, but he had a Thumb he was given for a while yep!
 9.
Such a simple thing, to be honest.Someone actually sent me a message about that, but I thought it indicated shouting or something 10 years ago.But I dont think its all that important. At my age, seeing the screen is tasking enough.Big letters help, as you need good eye sight to see out of these Jamjars!!!lol
Try Ctrl and + together then Ctrl 0 to get it to normal! Also, steve actually uses a custom wound Seymour Duncan based on the SPB-1 Though the one you have are very nice basses!
 10.
His earlier models looked like this: which was the 7-string version of Now he's gone over to his new style, which is the seven string version of this: I had to do a bit of fiddling with the nut and put in new pickups on my 7-string. It's got a lovely neck though. I must say, though, I do prefer the look of his older models.
Would you say they are decent? Might get a seven string one if another with a great big inlay on the fretboard comes up! (I love inlays and what not like that!)
 11. The TRB1006J is the updated model, Try doing your homework next time The 1006J has a 3 piece neck, instead of a 1 piece neck with diffrent nut bolts with more or less the same system/design which gives a more stable neck, with also a little more mellow sound (but it's a very, very minor change to the sound, i doubt anyone would notice the change in sound is only 'on paper' as it were ) The pickups have also been altered a tad to sound "sweeter" and the EQ "improved" but i'd guess both of those things are an opinion! The J series are the new ones, the 1000 without the J's are the older ones I've followed the TRB1006/1006J for about 3 years as i've hard GAS for one, but a rig comes first, and i'm lacking on funds! Edit: Though the TRB1000J series comes in limited colours, i think they don't even do flat black anymore but i always wanted one in blue or red which they don't do aand haven't for about 5 years! The new ones are Natural, Transparent black or Caramel brown (my personal favourite!) The new ones i know for a fact are very well made, not played an older non J TRB1000 series to compare it too though
 12.
What's the Ibanez Paul Gray used to play? His bass, not the signature one... I'm assuming there's a difference, mind.
He played a Fender Jazz for aaagggess and did untill he died, and stingrays though had a prestige ATK and a Triple coil ATK one, then they gave him a signature as far as i know
 13.
The K5 never occured to me. will have to give one a play and see how it is tone wise compared to the others (I find many of the signature guitars - haven't played many sig basses) are pretty limited in the different tones and things they can offer. Still hunting around on gumtree and ebay etc
The K5 is VERY versitle i'll let you know! There is/was one in my local and i really liked it, the body and neck are a small percentage smaller than the normal SRs too, and thus a little lighter than those of the same materials in the SR serie,
 14.
From what I remember of my OTB, the mid didn`t add that scratchy nasally sound that you can get with some amps, just a bit more warmth and roundness to the sound. Making you sound like JJ Burnell, it would not - in the words of Yoda!
Still going to have to hear it to make a call BUT sounds promising
 15.
I want one - never had a tube amp before and would love to give one of these a go. In between cabs at the mo. Once thats sorted I might pull the plug. I really like the demo's I've seen of it. Also like the idea of swapping the valves.
Same here I've listened to most of the clips on youtube of these and i have small GAS for one! No one in the videos showed the "strength" of the Mid control only the bass and treble so i'd really have to hear that before i'm sold! This and the Hartke LH500, loud and well priced Valve pre-amped amps! Where were they a couple years ago when i had the money!
 16.
This may interest a few guys on here Was working at the gig in Cardiff, got the grand tour of 'arry's rig And yes that's his no 1 bass. Dan
How, how, how, how, how? I've always wanted to work at gigs and roadie but i've never been able too! I don't even know who to ask Very lucky man indeed!
 17.
No, they don't make the Trb6p's anymore. You can only get them second hand. I had no idea that there were new TRB's on the way ! Very exciting ! Do you have any details / specs of the instruments ?
None, but they will retail through BassDirect for about £3000 (I'm going to pry Mark for specs though!)
Are they all the same scale length? Have the same pickups? If either of those two aspects are different they will definitely cause differences in tone between the instruments.
I believe the older ones were 34" and now they are 35" and also the much older TRB6s had single coils, and the the TRB6p ones were "fat" single coil designs which progressed into full on soapbars (IIRC)
 18.
Very fine wet and dry Guv, honest .
Good citizen!
 19.
Now my P is the back up. This thing is bloody marvellous . Karl.
You did WHAT to the neck I hope you man just gave it a good clean and not what i think! haha, If i did anything to neck of one (firstly i'd have to be minted! haha) i'd thin the neck (depth wise, i LOVE the width!) to a really slim D shape but i have odd tastes in necks!
 20. I'll be following this cloesly! Looks to turn out a real beauty, and you'll be making some awesome music with it!
 21. Do they still make the TRB6ps? I know a new line of TRBs are coming out before too long and have been designed in collab. with Mark from Bass direct I'd personally make sure i had one with Piezos and i'd be happy! All the sound clips of the TRB6ps i've heard have been awesome, but whats the actual difference?
 22.
The bass sound for the verse of Time is running out by Muse (is that what you mean?) is just a keyboard with some clean bass.
Yep thats what i mean, like the opening bassline, is 2 Deep Impacts run one after the other I know faaar too much about Muse gear as my brother is a huge muse fan boy and a contributer to the muse wiki haha, There is no keyboard on Time is running out, i'm almost certain
 23. After playing one of these (fretted though!) I can say these are simply stunning, neck was so slim! I thought it was a 5'er for 10 minutes! VERY nice sound, extremely P-bass sound with the neck pickup solo'd great basses!
 24.
Not sure what the price is on one of them, but there are some interesting and affordable 7 stringers on eBay. Not sure if they're any good mind. THis one looks really nice, but it is fretless:
Those are nice looks wise, Dread Bass owns one of neck through ones which I was after for a while! One of the Mods on here had that exact one! (well that model) They are HKs and there was a thread on them not too far back
Or one of these from Vietnam:
And http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=510 I'm apprehensive but i really would like one of them!
 25. It's bass like the fish
