I have not had this long ,recently purchased from here http://basschat.co.u..._1#entry3189949 .. it was awesome when i got it .......in the short time iv'e had it iv'e added a custom made pickguard , fitted a new fantastic (as always ) Kiorgan loom with new knobs.....and i took it to a guitar luthier where the frets have been leveled crowned n polished . (original plate ,controls and knobs included) more info about this here http://basschat.co.u...anez-blazer-pj/ Now it plays superb and looks like a dream :-) it has heaps of punch in them old pickups (dimarzio clones) just put on a new set of ernie ball slinkys 105-50 Everything works as it should ,truss rod etc not sure what the weight is ? (no scales) ...at a guess id say 9lb's or just under ....not bad at all and balances great imo I really don't want to let it go but with my style of pick playing the J pup gets in my way :-( Iv'e spent just over £160 on it so i think £380 is a fair trade price Comes with a brand new Tiger padded case so looking for a trade ideally towards a .. mexican 50's P Squier CV 60's p Peavey T40 Yamaha bb1024 or W.H.Y?(Mainly passive bass's) Happy to add £ adjustments where needed.
But how much lighter Dan ?
Hi mate . it feels about the same weight as the Orange head was ,around 7kg lighter than the Ampeg .........it's still heavy but it makes the world of difference carrying the head from my house to my car ( lot's and lot's of steps to climb)
-
I'll report back when it's gone through a band thrashing
-
This is not my rig btw .....But the same cab head, thankfully I think I can live with the slight overhang ( worth it for the sound ) . But I know what you mean though . I am eyeing up a used fender neo 6x10 bass direct have in stock now though :-D

After a very Disappointing venture with a Orange ad200 , man is that thing over hyped! going from a SVT to that was like filling your ears with playdoe , for me it just felt like mud . I love Ampeg valve but the weight (oh the weight) ...had to go, thought i'd never be able to get that tone and thump again........wrong :-):-) Just received this Wonderful Super bassman 300 from Kevsy71 of this parish( what a fab chap to deal with btw) only had a hours fiddling tonight with my epifani 2x12 cab , both channels just blow me away for tone .....now the hype for these amps of late i do get now. Cannot wait to give it a test run through my big ampeg cab at next practice ........must resist buying their 6x10 cab haha

Iv'e just received a phenomenal fander bassman 300 from Kevin . Delivered lightspeed in perfect condition . The communication was flawless throughout ...... Kevin is the definition of a great Basschater . would not hesitate to deal with him again :-) Cheers mate

I'm very tempted to buy it for "the sake"

Look at this on eBay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/262843608316
Indeed, the tuners might be the closest thing this bass has to a flaw. Which ones would you recommend?
i wacked these http://g-gotoh.com/i...roduct/gb2.html in .....think i got em for around£50 off ebay , they feel supurb quality and look cool. I'll wack some pics up later
I've gigged mine a few months and I have no issue whatsoever with the tuners, quite frankly.
one of mine went loose and rattley
Really? The pickups I could maybe understand (although the stock ones - Tonerider I believe - are OK), but the bridge is fine and the tuners perfectly acceptable IMO. The problem is, once you start modding cheap basses where do you stop? These basses are great straight out of the box and put to shame many instruments at twice and even three times the price!
I dunno the tuners felt a little cheap to me? iv'e always used gotoh bridges (maybe a placebo effect with sound)..... but the spacing on the stock bridge is ever so slightly wider than normal which i didn't like. with the bridge ,tuners ,pups and kiorgan loom it cost about £200 .. all in all about £600...But! i have had a us p bass and many others come and go but this is still here ,the neck is perfect for me :-)

In fact I used a VT at practice last night through the orange rig I have up for trade ........Amazing tone into that , best amp I've heard it through .....Thinking about pulling the amp out of the for sales now :-D
-
I think it depends on the amp as well as the VT pedal, I've played the vt through different amps all with difference in sounds...... I liked it to add to a amps sound rather than straight into a power amp. To me it always sounded a bit fuller
-
Slap some dimarzio model p's in it ,a nice gotoh 201 bridge and some better tuners and it's a bass that cannot be beaten .........Like my main player ;-) . Good score, I absolutely love mine and don't think I would ever get rid.
-
having owned a svt cl for a few years and having played some of the others (pf500,pro 5 and 3 ) the closest i ever got to emulating that sound was through a old peavey mark 6 xp amp using a tech 21 VT bass........i think any old muddy yet punchy amp with a VT is a good bet :-) Obviously absolutely nowt will ever truly sound as beautiful as an all tube svt ;-) but as a weight vs tone .............you can't beat the VT into any old loud amp
