changing my ibanez to a fretless
Ghosts Over Japan replied to Ghosts Over Japan's topic in Repairs and Technical
haha cheers guy about the value... its in pretty bad condition anyways so im gona have to repaint it (purple or use a dark wood stain on it ) and its an ibanez gsr200 but one of the older versions that only has three tone/pickup/volume controllers an you cant find them any where lol and i brought it for 75 quid as a first bass an i think i could make somethin pretty cool out of it with money because no one would buy it! hahaha wouldnt rubbing oil on the fingerboard affect the strings abit? and good advice on using flats -
hmmm ive decided that because my ibanez is sitting round giving me evils i might as well turn it fretless would the rosewood on the neck be ok to use? or would i need to give it a light varnish coat or just replace the whole thing? thank you for any help

hmmm all this talk of teenagers and with this post being in the bass PORN bit is quite dodgy

you teacher talks bollocks (y) listen to some of the old incubus, some of there songs use some well placed open notes all you have to do is use your left hand to mute them and the open might be the exact note you need to make that perfect song, because yeah, an open on the E is the same note as fifth fret on the A but even tuned perfect there is still a noticable tone difference hope i coud help
I totally understand what you mean about nice on the eye. They were the first custom instruments that i ever really got into, looks wise, and i'm glad i managed to eventually buy one. As for the eq...they do indeed have programmable eq, basically, you can set the frequency that you want to boost/cut, it's a bit of a complicated system at first, but it seems quite cool, although, i'm glad mine hasn't got it!!!
coool haha im kinda interested in the programable eq because it could come in handy but i dont think i could afford one with that though! haha well il buy one eventually, watch this space

any one had any experience with these?
Never heard of them but looks cool. Why get a US custom built when the UK has lots of custom builders? I've been back to Bernie a few times for tweaks and you cant do that when it comes from the US.
i really dont know guess my mate just likes them, its his choice not mine altho they are kinda gettin me attracted to them lol but nah ive just decided what im saving up for an it aint one off the lol cheers -
to be honest, marleaux must be some of the nicest basses on the eye ive ever seen. never had any experience but im dying to try one, i read something about certain ones having a programmable tone or something an i really want one of them haha these must be the only bass company that have ever interested me this much so in the future im surly to buy one myself
