1. For a bloke dead set against having members who play in other bands I now find myself in 3 from January because my hand has been forced. So, I know loads of you play in more than one band. How the hell do you make it work ? Do you have many balls ups ? ta Les
2. Personally I wouldn't dream of even logging on to BassChat without a shave, shower, polished boots and a 3 piece suit with tie, Jeez,, you kids today
Pick or guess who the crook was (band leader) is in the pic. Blue
Is it the guy wearing my jacket ??
4. Goddamit
5. If your goal is to gig then join the established band with gigs in. Like you said it could takee ages to find the singer you need for the band playing your prefered style plus you can always exert some influence on the set list once your established in the gigging band. Les
6.
Let me play the devil's advocate, did the venue make any extra money when you take into consideration the cost of the band, extra staff if need, extra energy, plus the wholesale cost of the beverages.
Not sure that's pertinent. This is not a sale or return situation. Though fees are lower these days than we were all used to we are still operating in a commercial environment, and as someome pointed out, maybe the band should have confirmed he fee at the time of rebooking, but to be honest a RE-booking im my opinion is on the same terms as the original unless one party pipes up at the time. I'm on the same circuit as Damon, this has never happened to us and the gig is way out of order.
7. Feel for you Damon, that was a long way to go for that money. What did you say to the guy when he came over with 50 quid less than last time ??
8. Top drawer stuff Jack
9.
There is a new boy about town, the Ledj 7q5, these LED cans pack some very serious punch, not talking those led cans you need two inch from your face, these things knock out a right beam for the money. You can put them on stands at the side of stage like old par 56 cans, they really are that good. Check em out, you can get foot controllers as well and the chain together with DMX Two each side is enough for the full stage. Seen some in action at a venue and I was most impressed, as up to now LED lighting has always seemed a bit far away and dull to me, but these really do crack some light out and the colours are very strong as well.
Can't see the foot controller would you be kind enought to point at it please.
10. Only use Peavey powered subs now but do agree with spacey, it's great, second hand it's a lot of bang for your buck.
11. Similar to me Pete A/B bass guitar and upright, BDI121 for peck drive on the BG, off for finger stuff, compressor, Boss GEB7 to sort the EUB out, evrything else off and a Nox mod core for silly sounds when the mood takes me. Looks like fookin River Dance sometimes
12.
Maybe I'm just a different cat,
I too, am that cat.
13. Yep, I'm chief cat herder in my band. In fact I can't trust any of my lot to sit the correct way on the toilet.
14. Oh God, I read the first few of those and thought "well I never knew that " and "mmm.. that's interesting" Now I feel I have to shoot myself.
15. Just got them and fiited them, can't say they feel floppy or looser to be honest. Sound nice and bright, as new strings do. Rehearsing tonight so that will be the test.
16. That is just sex on a stick. I'm going to see how much a kidney will go for.
17. Fellow shorties, resurecting this as I've just realised I have a set of Thomastik Infeld flats that I had on for a month then decided I prefered rounds. If anyone would like to try them but is put off by the 45 quid price tag I'd be happy to chuck them in the post to do the rounds as I doubt I'll ever put them back on. Bear in mind that they are MEDIUM scale strings cos' the Mustang is through body stringing so needs the extra length. They are 43 56 70 106 in guage. Let me know Les
18. Bugger Just pulled the trigger on these http://www.stringsdi...ale-p1150/s1192 I'll report back if anyone's remotely interested. Les
19. ta for that, I tried a set of Thomastik flats for a month and decided I'd go back to rounds.
20. I have 100 on the Mustang at the minute but always had 95 on my Stingray. Would like to try a later guage on the short scale (if I can find them) but would be interested in anyones exprience's/opinions on this. Les
21. 79 Stingray lives under the bed, I've used my Mustang for the last 6 years.
22. Thanks lads
23. Many years ago in a different galaxy I made a foootswitch that basically turned the mains off/on to the lighting. Plug, cable, footswitch unit, socket that the lights were all plugged into kind of configuration. If I say so myself it was a very sturdy but when I switched it on and off the there was a big "clunk" through the PA Someone told me that I needed to put a (?) capaciter/resitor/dilithiam crystal/sonic screwdriver/flugle valve in and it wouldn't make the clunk. He was right and it worked flawlessly for years. What is it I need to stop the clunk through the PA ? I can't remember. I could ask our guitarist who would defo know but I'm not even speaking to him at the minute so I thought I'd ask the basschat font of all knowledge. Ta Les
