1. Strap sounds good. Is it still available?
2. Any idea who he actually is?
3. He's superb
4. I've grown rather attached to my tool.
5. Would you recommend something like 2 10" speakers in a cab the size of your average 4 x 10? Speaking as generally as possible, leaving aside all the other factors to consider.
6. Exactly. It should be open to the public. I'm just trying to figure out how/who/where/why.
7. That was totally mad. Great stuff. I noticed the bass player of Tinariwen at Glastonbury had his bass set up that way too. Love this guy's slap style.
8. What do you guys make of these?
9. Ok, well it looks like a number of people might want this to happen. So now it's just a question details, details, details. So, can we come up with a list of things to decide/agree upon? I think an important thing to consider is who would we want coming along to watch. Any thoughts?
10. EBS Microbass II. One of its many uses is as a decent headphone amp.
11. Like two of the guys have already said, a lot of stereo power amps can be run in dual mono, where you send a mono signal into Input 1 and that gets fed to both channels of the power amp.
12. I haven't had any problems with them. I've placed a few different orders with them, which were all fine. I once had them ring back the next day and tell me that something was out of stock and wouldn't be in until a particular date, giving me the option of cancelling and going elsewhere. The other situation when they don't tell you what's up with your order is not on. Thankfully I didn't have that. You could ring up first to check that something's in stock before ordering just to be on the safe side.
13. If we did it over a weekend, we could maybe split 3 nights into different groupings of styles: funk, hard-rock/metal, indie rock, with jazz in the afternoons... Hmm...
14. I was thinking we could do it at a venue on the toilet/launchpad circuit. Hire the venue, pay the other band members and then donate our cut to the forum.
15. We wouldn't need to tell them that it was a bassists' convention. Just a festival.
16. I have a Nord Electro. I upgraded the firmware and patches to the Nord Electro 2 for free from the Clavia site. If I were you, I would head down the laptop route - it's just far, far easier. The rhodes/wurli/clavi sounds on the free Reason Electro-mechanical Refill sound great. There are also various other soft synths that sound fantastic. You could find great soft synths for strings and brass. You just get more power, more control and more patches if you go laptop. It's also a bit cheaper. A Nord Electro and a Korg Triton are each quite expensive.
17. I was just thinking that it could be a laugh if we tried to put on a basschat gig or mini-festival featuring the various bands whose bassists are forum members. So, vote in the poll: good or bad idea?
18. Bloody hell. Why not just lie some more and call it an electro-acoustic?
19. Hang onto it! The 70s bridge pickup placement sounds fat - excuse the 90s slang.
20. I bought an Aguilar DB680 secondhand from the US. The amp tech just had to flick a swtich inside and change the fuse.
21. I got called a 'gear slut' after a gig at the weekend. I think it was meant as a compliment.
22. That would really sort me out. It looks so much smaller than the Stompjuice too. I do like the look of the hefty Stompjuice but I'd appreciate being able to downsize to a smaller pedalbaord and if it means I can have my effects and DI out of the back of my pre, I'll be a very happy man.
23. Exactly!
24. That's cool man. A lot of people from these forums playing cool venues.
25. If Neve can do it, why not dood? It'd be cool if you could stick a crossover or something in after the preamp but before the compressor and then follow that with a parametric EQ. Hmm...
