1. Get great rhythmic feel with just 1 or 2 notes, then slowly incorporate all the other things you're learning.
2. £400 1U Mindprint Parametric EQ / Valve Compressor
3. This post cannot be displayed because it is in a forum which requires at least 1 post to view.
4. You could just take this to a gig along with a power amp and your cabs, in theory. I could find a price for you. Edit: Hah, it's £1450! But, it's built by the engineer for Decca and is developed from their own studio gear.
5. I caught one of Urb's gigs once... He was playing his Warwicks through one of those. I couldn't get over the tone. Great little amp.
6. You could always get yourself a Neve. I've always thought that Neve is short for "you will NEVEr be able to afford this".
7. You can't argue with that reasoning
8. To go in an additional rack...? ^_^
9. Most 1U Channel Strips contain compression and EQ - but you already knew that. I'm sure there's a way to avoid or bypass the preamp stage. A friend of mine is planning on using a 1U Focusrite channel strip as part of a live acoustic guitar rig. If you want something that is literally just compression and EQ, I'll have to have a look around for you. This one?
10. They don't make a 4x10 but they do 3x10s. They've actually got a new extra-light range coming out. I think I will have to put an order in soon.
11. Yeah man, in the words of the Madchester crowd "large".
12. Get the Corvette for £250. Unless it's a Rockbass Corvette.
13. Hah, you've quickly changed your tune. Peer pressure at work?
14.
Free time permitting mate, then yeah, i'll come along to one of your gigs...i'm in Grantham, Lincs, not sure where you are. But i'm all up for getting along to see some fellow basschatter's pimping it up on stage
Hah, well, we're in London. I still think I'll pop along to the Jazz Cafe to see you. I thought I knew the name Groove Cartel. You guys were one of our first myspace friends on a previous band's profile.
15.
Hi all, Just a quick one to announce that i'm gigging with Groove Cartel at the Jazz Cafe in Camden next Wednesday (27th june)...not had many details come through yet, but rock on!!! Check out the myspace link in my sig to hear some of our stuff. Will any of you be able to make it? Thanks Jamie
Well done, mate. I'll check out your myspace page when I got home (the music player's blocked at work!). I should be free and should make it down. I'd expect you at my next gig though. ;-) Deal?
16. Looks like a pretty cool bass to me. Wouldn't suit Crosby, Stills & Nash but it does have a certain charm.
17. Well, mine stinks. Does that answer your question?
18. £125 for a valve compressor? Bagsy me after Dood?
19. MoogerFooger - that stuff is SICK.
20. Weren't Double Trouble also in Archangel with Doyle Bramhall III?
21.
Would love to help... But being in a seperate 'scene' from most of you on here, the promoters and bookers are different and for the most part venues are hired by them.. we never really get asked to play 'normal' venues by run of the mill promoters and bookers as they seem to have a problem with all the Punks, Skinheads and assorted Hooligans that turn up to watch us.. Funnily enough theres no real trouble and a crowd that usually drinks the bar dry and has a great time which is more than I can say for a 'general' crowd.. Still, Viva La difference!!
Still, why not review the promoters and bookers you've worked with so that any forum members on your scene will be able to benefit from your experience.
22. Damn. My next questions are: 1. Who is this manager? 2. Will he manage my band?
23. There was a discount for combined shipping. If anyone wants to come in on an order, let me know.
24. Yeah. I think we need a mod to help us stickify this. We can use the power of the internet for more than just looking at pictures of naked ladies.
25. I thought it might be useful to have a thread where people review their dealings with promoters and venues. I will be back after the weekend to post some reviews. Until then, over to you.
