  1. Nah - plays great, looks ace - was a bargain, needs love. It’s home now. Yeah - the usual sparky bridge pickup seems lifeless/dark. will open it up…at some point. I’m sure it’s just a wire on the wrong doofer on the switch. etc.
  2. Great white BB414 at ridiculous bargain price = happy me. apparently needs some electrical fettlement…but it looks balls ace.
  3. Ooh tort… have they got an e-mail address?!
  4. No business being this nice at £150 even at £500, as people have said… well. There we go.
  5. Ah. Ok. I got free postage…weirdly
  6. Have they gone up £7?!
  7. I will be checking them over tomorrow - if they’re workable… black is getting a tort guard and flats. they’ll live at the studio.
  8. Is it a 2 octave neck?!
  9. Just had shipping confirmation 😆
  10. PM’d
  11. Sod it. Live once.
  12. The BB1600 - I regret selling that over any other bass. It was exactly as per TK’s - I even used to buy GHS boomers for it because I’m a sad little fanboy. I will say, a well set up 414 is comparable…but doesn’t feel as nice.
  13. Nah, think that’d be a bit cheeky… “hey, i just quit the band I bought this bass for…can I have my money back?” 😆
  14. Literally collected this last Tuesday from Bass Bros. I chose it over 2 other honeyburst SR5’s as it sounded and played better than the others - it also has that slightly mellower honeyburst rather than the starts red/yellow that the later versions seemed to have. I bought it for a band which I’m apparently no longer in because I called some shitty behaviour out. I don’t need a 5 string. It’s ace but I don’t need it. It’s got some marks/dings (it’s 27 years old…), the worst of which is down by the strap button on the butt of the bass - it’s had some refinish applied o it and once the strap is on; you’d never know. it’s 9.8lbs. So “light” for an SR5. it has a beautiful Birdseye neck. Very sad it’s not staying but I have no use and really don’t want a reminder of the band it was bought for. I don’t really want trades - but I’m easily swayed; I’d like money my way if possible. comes with a hardcase and a brand new set of d’addario 5’s (it has brand new strings on). can ship in UK for £20 collection preferred. some pics are from BB site - more will follow when im not heading to bed - including the obligatory name/paper shot.
  15. Genuinely, I don’t keep basses long enough for me to know the true answer. Generally I use rounds, but the flats I use on basses are usually recycled. if they’re not losing tuning - and they feel right…that’s the aim, surely? Half wounds - I’d say a year, I got really annoyed with the half’s on my ripper and changed them for new. Like a new bass.
  16. I think if you’re not enjoying the sound from your bass… that’s when you change them.
  17. Jay bought a Bartolini Pre from me - absolutely joyful transaction x
  18. $3 saving on 10,000 basses. probably. scrimp scrimp scrimp. keep costs down, push prices up. etc. Got excited when I saw “electric blue” - but then realised it’s just a flat blue paint like the Squier affinity Baltic blue from 10 years ago. meh.
  19. They did it on the Jaguar Bass in about 2005
  20. I actually made it to Bass Bros, finally… Mrs Travis booked us a little break to Stratford as we’re both on holiday. Did all the Shakespeare gubbins etc. @Willfunk and I had been talking about my Gibson and a Stingray 5 he had in stock. Now, because I’m useless with geography - I’ve no clue where anything is…I did not realise how close I would be this weekend. Will and I have dealt with each other a few times now; at some point in the past via BD, and I’ve sold a few basses to him. Anyhow, a quick message back and forth - I collected the stingray today, and the Gibson leaves tomorrow (wish I’d took it with me now, but didn’t realise until I got to Stratford). Anyhow - he was chilled, ace and it was a nice place to be. Impressive space with some great gear.
  21. Sell Us Your Guitar are reputable - an ex colleague of mine runs it. Its in Manchester, but they offer a fair enough price… Don't know if that helps
