  1. Sold
  2. I was first exposed to this kind of approach when I was asked to go on a Steve Martland workshop whilst in 6th form (23/24 years ago!?). As a non classical musician who played electric bass it was probably the first time I was in an environment that 'accepted' the instrument outside of your typical jazz/rock gigs etc.
  3. I've long been a fan of Nik Bartsch approach to minimal composition and the "zen funk" sound of some of the grooves. Modul 36 here and 35 are particular favourites:
  4. I posted this before but to your point the options for pickups meant some routing and ultimately I asked for the plate to be made around it to hide any nastyness where the screws on the pickups didn't align anymore. If you don't mind a bit of work the Aguilars do sound fantastic
  5. Love the black hardware. I was going to go black until I saw a set of hipshots on here so went for them.
  6. Final reduction £950
  7. One of the best (my favourite) funk/blues/fusion guitar trio albums was a CD I bought from a UK band. Will have the dig the CD out as I can't find anything specific on them online. They were called 'JuJu' I think. Or that was the name of their album.
  8. Reduced to £1050. Desired trades with appropriate cash either way-I'm aware they're pretty niche but you never know...: Ibanez EHB1005ms (seafoam) Ibanez EHB1005sms Ibanez ANB205 Kiesel Zeus 5
  9. A quick collection of fusion(ish) tunes ive been a fan of playing over the years. Some more classic fusion and some newer.
  10. This tbh. I was a massive fanboy of Zender when I started learning bass at 14 (95). Even drew a little jamiroquai man on my encore bass. My first band at 16-19 were definitely this kind of acid jazz/funk vibe too.
  11. That is great. I've always loved this pretty raw version by The Big Apple Band (Nile Rogers and Bernard Edwards pre chic)
  12. I think I've found my my Yamaha my parents bought me that I unfortunately had to sell and I think resold on a few times here: Did you buy it? For sentimental reasons if you see this for sale let me know.
  13. Lamont deserves so much more love and visibility. Filthy bass part and solo.
  14. https://www.gumtree.com/p/guitar-instrument/ibanez-short-scale-bass-guitar-/1414133374 Funky 70s ibanez short scale for sale here thought this group might likee. A few OG bits missing but likely lots of mojo.
  15. I had the 1506MS and sold it. I partially regret it just because it was so nice to play but I only play 5s now. Still want one of these in MS. GLWTS
  16. Reduced to £1150
  17. The serial is super confusing 6P02004 as it puts it as an 86 bass using that coding but TRB basses didn't come out until 89/90 and even then they were in P/J format for a number of years. I thought basses with this pickup configuration and colourway (charcoal grey) didn't come out until 1995. Could this potentially be a 1996 August TRB5? Regardless of dating, as you stated was actually the first Japanese TRB5 (mk1) with slapcut announced in 95/96 and wonderful basses. I still regret selling my TRB6 from the same years (had relatively the same case too) Excellent value for an excellent 5 string. GLWTS
  18. I've been here ready to go for months or so after making the same decision but no one is buying my SRH505 or GWB1!
  19. I know you're likely thinking 4 string but just a heads up I needed some routing done to fit some Aguilars on the 5 string. Along with custom plate to make it a bit neater too.

    What happened?

I got mine for my 14th birthday from Chappells of bond street in Milton Keynes. I couldn't play and never played before. I saw the Encore E83b ltd edition amoungst all the other basses and just loved the look of it and asked the salesman to play it for me. A few minutes of Mark King style slap later I asked my mum and dad for it. Plus a small Marshall amp. Joined my first band at 17 (when I had hair) and proceeded to put a Jamiroquai picture and paw prints on (the band was called The Fat Cat Experience and I was very into Zender back then). I gave it to my niece in my 20s when I got my TRB6. Many years later near the start of the Pandemic I asked and it turns out they still had it in storage so gave it back. 20ish years later. Still one of the nicest P style necks I've played and now I can teach my children on it. Now just debate to leave all original or upgrade electronics?
  21. I'm not sure which major suppliers but I know in the past a few people said they were interested but couldn't find one. I know GAK, PMT, Andertons and others were out...seems Andertons aren't now, so buy them there then.
  22. Virtually everywhere out of stock of these, but if you're in the market for one of these cracking inexpensive basses, here is a TMB35: https://reverb.com/uk/item/40699878-ibanez-tmb35-mgr-5-string-talman-bass-mint-green
