I've done so on both my EHB1005MS and EHB1005SMS with no issues. I used Warwick Black Label sets if I remember.
-
Wow. I used to lust over these after watching bill the Buddha dickens video when I was younger. That's a crazy price.

Bought a used Ibanez GWB1 for used GWB35 price as they didn't know what the model was. That said I sold my 1994 Yamaha TRB6 for a stupid price as a student. I still want it back today knowing I'll likely have to pay 3 or more times what it went for.

CARVIN SB5000 FRETLESS JAZZ BASS - Made in USA - *WITHDRAWN*

It has the ceramic driver from DB series Vs standard SL drivers.

Love my Aguilar rig. And they've just dropped these: http://www.aguilaramp.com/cabinet-series/sl-series-cabinets/ In 3 colourways... Partial to picking up one of the Chocolate brown or Fawn to save moving about the 12s for small practices.

Until recently all my 5 strings were high C, just what I prefer. I can vouch for the short scale Ibanez TMB35 that I've modded a bit and it's also E-C. I also have the EHB1005SMS short scale fanned fret thats worth looking at depending on budget, but a few floating around used at the moment. Both are Warwick Black label high C 5 string sets. https://www.instagram.com/tv/CEAh3S0HwdP/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=

Posted elsewhere on other threads...but here is a SB5000 I bought used from this forum a while ago. Love it. Always now keep an eye out for other SB Carvins as I love the shape.

Jamaladeen Tacuma on left and I think Al MacDowell on right. Another video of him with bass later on:

Sorry I don't have exact measurements but it was basically the width of the installed bartolini and just a fraction more as the gap between bridge and pickup. On the geb35 this was a custom dual coil nordstrand with coil tap from beepre

Exactly where it is on the ibanez GWB. I've had a number of them (and still regret selling the GWB1). Just the right amount of bridge burbling and nice tight defined sound.

Starting to be seen out in the wild... First: fretless EHB1005F-AOB https://www.ibanez.com/eu/news/detail/20221207141839.html 5 string EUB? More widely available black flat ehb1505ms? Some new SRs as is usually... No new prestige range (yet)?

Shame to see Patty go I have a TMB35 that I changed tuners for lower weight as found on here some used ones cheaper. And some Aguilar pickups but the work to route and new scratch plate would likely be too much normally but I thought what the hell. Easily my most played bass until I got the ehb1005sms (had a 1006ms and I have a 1005ms). If you can get a used Ibanez ehb short scale I'd say go for it.

I was also going to mention the Tim Miller/Goodrich book too Creative Chordal Harmony for Guitar generic modal compression. I've worked through most of the book a few times and applied the shapes that could be played on 5 string and just chose a few favourites of both open and clusters that I both like the sound and don't cripple my hands playing. Thought it may be a bit out there as a choice but worth a look maybe.

I really play 5 with a high C. Never comped a singer though practise chords and voice leading quite a bit. My first influence for chords on bass was Oteil Burbridge and notice he has lots of new content cropping up. Haven't checked it out yet though Andres Rot is a good example of a bassist that comps a singer. He has loads of videos and a few instructional ones with Scott's Bass Lessons. Although if you know you're basic triads, inversions and how to harmonise typical modes/scales then you might not get much from them. https://instagram.com/andresrot?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y= Think Todd Johnson had some material on chords/comping but is mainly a 6 string player. Should be able to do most of it the same though.

I'd say so. https://store9362003.ecwid.com/Peavey-Millennium-4-Bass-p113758268
