1. At first glance it does look very like a 51-57 machine head but if you look more closely a couple of things don't look quite right. First is the rivet holding the paddle to the shaft which is much closer to the end of the shaft on a genuine 50s one. Second is the washer under the slothead screw on the main cog which is smaller on the original (although I guess this could have been replaced). I've attached a pic of my original 1957 P for reference. Overall I'd guess that yours is probably taken from a more recent reissue of a 50 bass rather than an original 50s machine head.
2. Thanks, I thought they might be TI flats, so much for my ears!
3. Thanks for adding the recording, what strings are you using on the video?
4. If that's a Schecter Stilletto then may be worth dropping them an email - "][email protected] Alternatively these may work (see items 5 to 8 in the list) - http://shop.warwick.de/?&c=35352310006&lang=en&smk=1&nm=D0405358001321517424A43801%7CWarwick%7CD0204003001321517427A45006&modul=shop&site=shop_overview
5. See here - http://forums.ernieball.com/music-man-basses/59012-new-stingray-bass-has-new-type-battery-box.html This suggests the new style battery box has a logo on it, if it doesn't then I guess it's an old style one
6. dr TStingray - re EQ curves on the EBMM forum, could you post a link? I've had a look but can't find them. Thanks
7. Ah, thanks! Tone, on the lower horn I guess
8. Dunic, on the Thomann website it says the controls are 1 x vol 1 x tione and 3-way switch but it actually has 3 control knobs - what does the third one do?
9. Sound clips would be good if you can. Is it chambered or sold and can you post a pic showing a back view?
10. Where are you located?
11. Haha, every other weekend!
12. "Hmmm, I reckon you should mate" Hehe, the voice of temptation! I love the '57 Dan, it's a great player and gets regularly gigged. I've reverted completely to using my old Fenders since getting it. Coming over all vintage in my old age! I do like this M4V though ...
13. Ta Nick. When in passive mode does the treble pot function as a passive tone?
14. Nick, is the Aquilar eq 3-band or 2-band and does it have a passive switch with passive tone control? Also is it configured as Vol/Vol or Vol/Blend? Thanks
15. I've had one. It played well enough but I'd rate build quality as pretty average for a budget bass - body cavity had some sawdust and loose bits that needed shaking out, pickup height adjustment was a bit wonky. All fine after a bit of dismantling and tweaking. Main reason I sold it was the sound was a bit woolly and lacking in mids for me with the pickups in those positions. Fun litte bass though if that's the sound you're after.
16. Ok, thanks anyway.
17.
She comes in at around 4.5kg or 10lbs in old money and well balanced.
Can you provide a more accurate weight please?
18. What does it weigh please? An accurate weight in grammes if you can. Thanks
19. Pic attached showing the wiring on the screw terminal block. Great and very flexible preamp, I have a custom version on my ACG Just realised the text in the pic is hardly readable so, from left to right the screw terminals are: - pickup COLD - pickup HOT - ground (0V) - output (to jack) - battery +ve (9V/18V)
20. What does it weigh please? An accurate weight in grammes if you can. Thanks
21. Can you provide a bit more detail on the B2 please: - assume it's active but what are the controls and what does the switch do? - what are the pickups? - ash body? - fingerboard ebony or rosewood? - what does it weigh? Sorry, can't find specs of early B2 models on the Blade website. Thanks
22. Where are you located?
23. Can you provide a more accurate weight? Raslee's original for sale thread says about 10.5lbs, also on bathroom scales. Thanks
24. What does it weigh please?
