1. ooooooooh, dont start me off on a JB preach-a-thon! One of my all-time heroes who had some great line ups! Its a bit to "cabaret" what we see above - not definitive stuff. For pure JB excitement-watch this one - the best line up he had with the bootsy on bass (& his bro catfish on guitar) from 1971..... 2.
This bass was a Factory Special Run by USA Fender 2002. They were made in OLY, CAR, LPB and in sonic blue. I own one in sonic blue. Information about those basses are really rare. What i found out so far is 250 made in CAR and LPB, 200 made each in OLY and Sonic blue worldwide. They are Ash Body, Maple Neck/Rosewood Board, Block inlays, three bolt Neck, matching headstock and 70´s PU stringspacing. These basses are absolutely fantastic and sound awesome. A rare collectors one as well(remember the small number they are made). This is one of the most beautiful basses ever produced by Fender. this is my sonic blue one Serial 0003X If you need any further help, please contact me also via PM. Maybe i am able to help you
oh my giddy godfathers.....now that is stunning.... I am off for a lie down.....
3. lighter fluid on cotton wool will remove any residue. Another alternative would be to try using some "copydex" glue leave it to set and it should stay good til you want to peel it off....
4. i have the 1st one thy released....a bit more £300-ish but worth it.....esp. like the matching headstock and stacked pots... black vm jag
5. I have an ampeg B200R - valve pre amp, great tone, great looks......
6. First Bass: Bass Collection SB301 "Go To" Bass: 82 P-Bass ('52 re-issue 'pups) "My" Bass: '79 Musicman Stingray
7. get a bone-on! (sorry, couldnt resist that one and no-one else had said it yet) also, that is my pref, if thats any help on my bass, that is.....oh dear i wish i hadnt started this now!
8. I have the "non-special" Jag-the black one Its a lovely bass-i went for it as its a bit quirky- it has the block inlays, p-j split pups, stacked volume/tone pots and matching black headtock. Since i got it, ive had it properly set up, a new bridge and nut fitted and it plays like a dream recommended!
9. aye....looks like solid states, unless u go for the megabucks "heritage" range.........
10. ooooh....i have nearly fell of my chair.....Ampegs facebook page is showing details of a new portaflex range, including a mass market B15R (although these dont appear to be valve models... - specs comin soon...but it looks like they are launching these at NAMM next week.... and here is theman who started it all... I await falling off my chair again once we have heard the price details! Initial reactions?
11. yummmmmm..........that is absolutely right down my street, that I guess it'll go for £720
12.
Mine's going back this week, it looks to me like the bridge has been fitted incorrectly as the strings don't run evenly down the fretboard and are way off some of the pole pieces. I'll try and get a pic up tomorrow to illustrate. Anybody else noticed anything similer?

Do you have the info off the QC sticker yet? If so, post it here. There's been some inconsistencies with a certain run of these Jags and from a certain plant.
Yes - I mentioned earlier in the thread that it appears that the nut hasnt been cut wide enough and that the strings are well off the edges of the neck the A & D miss the centre of the poles on the J-pup....so im getting a new bridge and bone nut, which in the grand scheme of things for the price seems fair enough to me....
13.
Isn't it simple enough to fit a bridge yourself? Don't get me wrong, I'm just wondering if I've got it wrong and there's something more to it than merely screwing it on.
yeah, theres a bit more than that.....im having the frets dressed too and a proper bone nut on, as the plastic one that it comes with couldve been cut a shade wider....
14.
Looks good. I bet you can coax a fair few tones out of it with V/T V/T controls. How well balanced are the pick-ups in terms of output level- Is the "P" a lot hotter than the "J"? How long before people start modding these? BadAss/Hipshot/Gotoh bridges, tuners, etc. Can't stand tort scratchplates, though. It'd have to be swapped for a 3ply B/W/B or a Mirrored one!
well....mines off to the bass doctor tomorrow hopefully, for a badass & some flatwounds.....will report back in a while......perhaps the doc will also give his verdict too.....
15. i had to offload my trace 4x10 which had served me well since about 1992 - mine was a series 6 though.....should go for just shy of £300 if you ask me, or £300 if you're prepared to wait around for the right person....
16. aye....I love the control plate / pots. The nick is nice, v. smooth finish to back- the only criticism i have so far is there is a v small area on the underside of the neck, where it bolts onto the body, which feels a wee bit rough, but apart from that.....the blocks are inlaid, no bindings but it is a very nice neck, to me, somewhere between a P & a J but so far v pleasantly suprised with the buid quality and overall "feel"...
17. Tonally, I havent A-B compared against my P bass yet....on its own, though there is a good frequency sweep across both pups & the p and j sounds are there. My initial reaction is that these are good puppies! (they are "seymour duncan designed" quite hot, 1/4lb sounding.....this was being pushed through my Ampeg mind which was driving a bit....ill give more info after a headphone test this weekend....heres a few snaps too....
18. Well they ARE here! Tried it......bought it within 20 mins.....had it a praco tonite....the frets need dressing but out of the box it plays good. An interesting touch is on the concentric pots.....the base of these where you dial in your tone are notched. All in all its nicely weighted, well finished and put together.....very pleasantly suprised initially.....will try to get some photos up in the next few days and give a few more thoughts.....
19. well......shhhhhh....but these are in the uk as I type....got a phone call this afternoon.... REVIEW TOMORROW (fingers crossed)
