This is disappointing
I'd still try one if you can Kev, you might like it! I think I just found it a bit smooth and "nice" sounding compared to the WH-1, when I was hoping it'd cover both bases!

I tried one of these yesterday, and was really disappointed actually. Although I like the new harmony options, the chord mode just sounds a bit fake/digital to me and the classic mode does not react in the same way as my Whammy 1 at all! I usually use the octave or fifth up harmonies with a bit of delay for a really nice haunting, warbley sound, but this sounded really bad on the bass whammy! Keeping the Whammy 1 now and I'm not going to pick one of these up. Bit of a shame as this had me very excited :-(...

This is great! Loved the Sadowsky, and that Stingray sounds beautiful to my ears! :-) Fodera sounds crap, just as I assumed it would. Really glad I'm not missing out on anything tone-wise there, cos I'm not a fan of basses that look like a piece of furniture...

So after much saving I'm now in the market for a nice Pre-EB Stingray. I have two particular ones that I'm looking at, going for a similar price, but I'm just not sure what to go for! The first is a 1979, has had a good refret at some point but all original aside from that. 3-bolt neck and through-body stringing, but a bit beat up condition-wise! The other is a 1983, made in January and happens to be my year of birth bass! :-) This is all original aside from a brass nut, and in slightly better condition! This one has the 4-bolt neck and top-loading bridge. If you were looking, which would you be more interested in!?...

For sale is a Spector Euro 4 in natural flame maple finish. It has solid maple wings, gold hardware and has the original factory installed Aguilar OBP-1 preamp and active EMGs. I believe this is from 2001, and it's before Spector changed the body wood and the name to LX Condition-wise, the bass certainly has signs of wear, I've been playing it pretty solidly for 15 years! The gold bridge is worn, but this is only really visible close up. There are a few very minor dings on the bass, and there is some real wear above the neck pickup (this is where I've been anchoring my thumb for 15 years!). I recently gave it a very good clean with Warwick surface finisher wax however, and it looks great! Will include the surface finisher with the bass. It also needs attention in the following areas:

The bridge pickup control knob has the wrong size pot installed (long, rather than short split-shaft), so the control knob won't fit on! This will need to be replaced, it currently functions fine however!...
The Bass control (bottom control) is starting to feel like it may be on its way out, so will need replacing too
The bass could do with a set-up
I have taken all of this into consideration, hence the bargain price. It will cost VERY little to get these elements fixed! Looks and sounds amazing though - some say these are comparable to the US model because of the maple and Aguilar preamp. SOLD

Whoops! Late reply... In this specific case they do sound identical though, which is surely what matters? This is different to the Sovtek/green big muff case, for instance!
-
They sound exactly the same as well!! o_O I could understand if the Finnish ones were superior in some way, but considering the US ones are put together by Spencer (and we all know about 3Leaf's quality!), using better quality components, it makes absolutely no sense to me!...
Email Tom and explain what you want, he is very good at working out what exactly you want. He patient and very knowledgable.
Seconded. He'll take your pedal dreams and turn them into reality, no electronics degree or jargon-interpreting skills necessary! ;-)
Is the newer graphic one better?
I think it is, as it has improved top-end. The older graphic one still sounds great, but it sounds a little more like you've got a blanket over your speaker cabinet. If you're going for James Jamerson Ampeg B-15, go for the old graphic. If you're going for Timmy C raging SVT, then it's new graphic!...
Oh! That's very mean of you... now i'm GASing for two pedals instead of just one!
Sorry!! You have a B3K already though, right? I'm pretty confident that the COG will cure your GAS!
-
I have the TFR, love it. If I didn't have it, I would buy the COG Grand Tarkin. Even better, contact Tom from COG and have him build you exactly what you want, and it'll still probably work out cheaper than importing a TFR or buying a Duality. Have to say though, TFR full-gain into the B3K at half-blend half-gain is still one of the most incredible bass dirt sounds I have ever heard. I want to have a little joyful cry every time I play through them! ...
