1.
Drop COG an email and ask for the Knightfall '66' Si
This is proving to be a popular idea Si, don't you wish you'd agreed to call it the "Knightfall Si Poulton Signature" now!? ...
2. I'm intrigued, are the purchase of this and the sale of your Demon King connected in any way!?... Al
3. Thanks for your help and suggestions all, especially those who messaged with advice! Very much appreciated Luckily I've found a friend of a friend who's an excellent amp-repairer, and takes payment in beer! Brilliant This does seem to suggest that there's a serious lack of pedal repairers in Central London though!...
4. Anyone know any good, quick place in central London that does repairs? Need a new footswitch on my W&C. So far I've tried Tim Marten (doesn't do pedals), John Kelly (doesn't do pedals) and Guitar Aid (Too long/too far away). It is literally just the footswitch that needs changing, but I do more damage than good with a soldering iron...If anyone can help, please let me know! Al
5.
Two tuners? Si
Yeah. What's the idea with that?
6. I'd definitely consider something by COG (Darklighter or Knightfall), or that LED Fuzzrocious Demon that's in the For Sale section at present!
7. That's lovely! I'd love to try one of these against my W&C... Rude to ask, I know, but was it dear?
8.
The EHX Freeze would do exactly this, as its purpose is to freeze a note indefinitely (minus the volume control - but you could put it in a loop with a volume pedal to get a similar effect). Would be a comparatively cheap solution as well.
Think you'd maybe need to mod the Freeze with a latching switch though, or be sat down!
9. I actually like the buffered bypass on it! Have A/Bd it and can't notice any tone degradation tbh, it's so much nicer than the Whammy's that came after it! I take care of it, but I've never been precious about these things. It was made to be used, and that's what I do! :-)
10. It's a
which whammy is that?
It's a WH-1, one of the original ones.
11. The current board... Determined to stick with this now! Only outstanding change is that the Signor Gatto is going back to Tom for a clean blend/LPF addition, but following that I will (surely!?) have every dirt sound that I could ever need!... As much as I would love to have one overdrive/distortion pedal for every application, I just can't! I have one group where the B3K really works but nothing else, another where only the 'vintage' SFT and Darklighter sounds work. Of course the TFR works with everything! ;-) I've also managed to find THE Death From Above 1979 sound with the Whammy detune setting > TFR > B3K! :-)
12. Bought Andy's TB Looper. Great comms, and I can't believe how quickly it got here!... Thanks Andy!
13. I'd say get a COG 66. Two selectable dirt channels in one pedal, all the clipping options you could ever need, optimised for bass and with a clean blend, fantastic value for money and from a brilliant uk maker. What else could you ask for!?...
14. Just dropped Mike at Catalinbread a line about the whole thing, so hopefully he'll confirm...Thanks for your help!
15. Thanks Si, yep I mean when the SFT is bypassed. The whole thing just seems a little weaker, and that pedal appears to react strangely to the TFR and B3K before it... I actually like the Whammy 1's buffered bypass, not the greatest but still 100 times better than the one on the Whammy 4! Point is that it was all sounding lovely before, but now the addition of the SFT seems to have changed something and I can't work out what! I'll have a play around with order tonight, but just wanted to check whether anyone had ideas or had experienced anything similar before I start dismantling! Al
16. Hi all, Little bit of advice sought, if anyone's had an issue like this before? Pedalboard pic is below, and current order is: Whammy > COG > TFR > B3K > SFT > MOOG LPF > Corona > El Capistan > TU-2 Basically, since putting the SFT in I seem to have a bit of signal degradation. The TFR sounds as though it's lost a bit of top end, and the B3K seems to sound a bit more glitchy than it did before. Also worth noting that the SFT and B3K DO NOT work well together and produce high feedback, although I never intended to use them this way anyway... So, would anyone know what could be happening here? I know the SFT inverts phase, but I wouldn't have assumed that this has anything to do with it? If I perhaps need a buffer I wouldn't be completely sure where to put it, and probably wouldn't want it before the dirt? If anyone can help with this, please let me know! Thanks, Al
17. They are great! I made the mistake of playing through it, and now really regretting having to sell it. I should have just sold it straight away without trying it!
18. For those of you who don't know what this is, it's essentially and "Ampeg in a box", recreating those lovely 70s Ampeg valve sounds. Pretty much new condition, comes with the box and little bag. Selling for what I bought it for including postage, so £75 inc P&P. Alternatively, if anyone wants to pick up in London, I'll do it for £70 collected! Bargain. Pictures below, and all info on the website here!
