1. Cheers Pete and thanks for taking the trouble to come, it was great to see you and your two mates. Keep me informed of your forthcoming Gigs as I would love to come and see your band. Stuart
 2.
I'm considering a Gecko bass from Warmoth, so according to their website they use UPS Express. Any experience of them?
There can also be quite a difference in the Customs Release fee as well. I have been charged £10 by Parcel Force, (UK agents for USPS), and £30 by UPS. I think Greene King has just had a delivery from Warmoth. Might be worth PM'ing him. Awesome choice BTW. I fancy building a Gecko at some point.

 4.
Nobody likes MTD 5 stringers ?
Sure do. Have 2 Kingston Heir 5 Strings. Love em.
 5.
We're booked at £750 (3 times the average pub fee). Last year we got £900 and two years before that £1300, is there a message in that?
Yep Alan, Venues are disappearing or losing custom so the money men are not that keen on paying as much as they used to. Last NYE we got £750 + 20 free tickets for WAG's and free food and drink all night. The venue is now up For Sale. Now is there a message in that Nearly all the regular venues we play are offering less dosh this year with the exception of a pub last Friday. The pub band had to play as a 4 piece and we had the best gig in yonks. We had the place jumping and the crowd wouldn't let us finish. Landlord gave us an extra £20
 6. My Marleax and MTD 5 Strings are both lighter than the 4 String Fender Jazz in my collection.
 7. Here we have a pretty scruffy Peavey 2x10 cab. It has had the horn and crossover removed and the gruill replaced. The drivers are, however fairly new. It has 2 16 Ohm Eminence Beta 10's installed so is rated at 500w RMS at 8 Ohms. I only bought it pull the speakers out for an Omni 10 build. I was actually quite amazed at how good it sounds. I was going to put a horn in it and remove the grill, adding 2 of these instead. http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?Module...ls&doy=22m3 Total cost of the parts for the restoration is about £13.00. I paid £50 for it so I am looking at recouping this as the drivers are around £75 for a pair. Plenty more pics if required, just PM me. OR add this for a small powerful Bass Rig at around £200 http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=...amp;hl=Carlsbro Cheers, Stuart
 8. I recently bought a Peavey 2x10 that had just had 2 fairly new Eminence Beta 10" drivers loaded into it. The idea was to use the speakers for a BFM Omni 10 project. Having just taken delivery of my Zoot cabs, the Omni idea is now on hold. The speakers are 16 Ohm and rated at 250w RMS. The cab has seen better days but will also provide 8 corners, 2 Handles, 4 feet and 2 jack sockets if anyone has a project on the boil. The remaining "box" would make an ideal Rabbit Hutch. In actual fact the loaded cab sounds pretty good.......... I paid £50 for it and that is what I am looking for in return. I have more pics, if required. Any more info, just PM me.
 9. Not having played guitar for a couple of years, it is taking a while to sink in with relations who keep buying me guitar related presents. I'm going to put the following Pedals up for sale. Although they are both a couple of years old, THEY ARE BRAND NEW AND HAVE NEVER BEEN USED. Both boxed with instructions and have only been opened to go "Ooooh, thanks. What a wonderful present" Boss CH1 - Super Chorus pedal SOLD You know what these are . Pic below. £25.00 delivered. Behringer V-AmpSOLD A widely-known and highly regarded Guitar Amp Modeler with Multi Effects Processor and Expression Pedal. 16 Amp/Speaker Models, 100 user Defined Pre-Sets, 8 Stomp Box simulations. Expression Pedal and built in tuner. Pic below. £25.00 delivered. Both can be used with a Bass even though there are Bass versions of both. Any more info or pics required, just PM me.
 10. I take my comments about the neo's and Omni 10's back. Having re-read the plans, I got it wrong. That said I have had experience of neo's and I am not that keen. What I have ended up with is a pair of cabs that suit my personal taste. Dave, sorry Son, I got it wrong. But you shouldn't argue with your Dad. And the slap bass was ace. Now, now, no arguments. Just get the 15 finished and lets have some real fun.
 11.
Why do you make a light weight cab and then DON'T use Neo speakers?? What is the power rating and the price?
Chris, That was MY choice. I am not that keen on Neo's, (Nor is Bill F apparently and he doesn't suggest using Neo's in the Omni 10). I find them a bit too mid-biased. In the end I have what I want, which is a lightweight set-up but a degree of warmth to the bottom end. Don't get me wrong, it can chuck out the mids with the best of them, but does not have a mid bias. Mike's intention was to use Neo's in his design, but after hearing the result of this particular set-up, he may have second thoughts. That said, if you want them, you can have them. I chose not too, just personal preference. They are rated at 350W RMS per Cab into 8 Ohms, (I think that is a conservative estimate as the drivers are capable of handling 500W RMS). Price wise, speak to Mike but he assures me these were made for me at a price he could sustain which is £259 and £225 depending on with/without a tweeter.
 12. Hi All, Here is another contender for the lightest cab. I have just taken delivery of 2 of Mike Walsh's "Zoot" Cabs. They weigh in at 34lbs and 32.25 lbs, (as light as a feather). God knows what they would weigh with Neo's installed. They are about the same size as Aguilar GS 112. Each contains an Eminence Delta 12LAF driver. One has an APT 130 compression horn with an Eminence crossover. Speakon and Jacks are provided on both cabs. You can easily carry one in each hand, a MarkBass head over 1 shoulder and Bass over the other. One trip from the car to set-up. Sound wise, IMHO they are better than the Aguilars. More mids and a really warm bottom end. Handles a 5 string easily. Dave Perry subjected them to some awesome slap from his Status when we A/B'd them against his Omni10 and they sounded the business. The Omni wins in the mids department and is slightly more efficient, but the Zoots did seem to have more warmth. At about 20-25% less than the equivalent Aguilars and lighter, they are worth considering. So much so I have Mike working on a compact, lightweight 1x15 then I have all situations covered.
 13. Ah, 2 Baldies talking Cabs . You must be mad selling the Omni 10 Dave. Anyone who buys it will not be dissappointed. A quality build and look forward to the Omni 15 at the next bash?? You will have enough time won't you??
 14. Great day guys. Really nice to be able to put faces to names and also be thank some people personally for favours etc. Especially Ste for NOT buying the Carvin. Agree with Alan it was much quieter than Bass Day back in November, (regretted not taking earplugs to that one), and there are some really awesome players in the North West. Thank John/Chris for organising and can we have another some time??????
 15.
Tell us more about these Zoot cabs, Mike is not far from me at Witham and i saw em early on when hed just cut the original cabs etc, do we have any specs, cost more pics etc
As the guilty party who brought the Zoot's along, I will get some details/pics together and put them in the lightweight cab thread. They were only delivered on Thursday morning, so haven't done a photo-shoot yet. One thing that was really apparent is the weight. They come in at 32.5 and 34ibs. They are slightly bigger than Aguilar but obviously 10lbs lighter and they DON't have neo's in. Having spoken to Mike just after they were delivered, his original idea of putting Neo's in may be shelved as they are so light but have plenty of bottom end and mids. It was really good to be able to A/B them against the competition as well.
 16.
Just seen this and thought I would put it here in case of interest to anyone. http://www.talkbass.com/forum/showthread.php?t=414521 Absolutely no connection to me at all and I don't know what they usually go for but this doesn't seem to bad a price? Tempted myself but I gotta stop spending!!! Steve
That is Bootiful
 17.
Any Quilified Electrician should do it for about a quid per item or something. Tbh, if youve got an old uncle who used to be an electrician but still has the meter give him a call kinda thing
Probem is Unc probably won't be certified, (well he may be but not a certified electrician anymore ). I still have my testers from when i was an engineer and quite happily test all our bands gear, but I can't "officially" issue PAT testing certs. As a matter of interest you can buy rolls of PAT certificates off e-Bay and I can always provide a copy of what the PAT Test Sheet should look like. As well as having all equipment and leads tested, you need a Test Sheet itemising all your kit. We have been coming up against this more and more. All the agencies the function band work for are asking more and more for PAT Test Sheets.
 18.
I posted this a couple of weeks ago I've just spoken with Kurt... Good news and bad news I'm afraid, bass people. The bad news is that the 6 basses would have to be all the same type and style ( no mixing 4 and 5 strings or Jazz and PB's) although they could be different colours: he is not sure how he could post such a large parcel to UK: and there would be no quantity discount. So the good news is you can go and buy one yourself in the type, style and colour you wish!
Nice try Keith. We CAN however get a bulk buy discount on the "No Name" basses from Curly's Music and I would not be surprised if they are sourced from the same factory as SX's. I have checked mine against the pictures of an equivalent SX and it appears identical. OK the choice isn't as big, but should work out cheaper and are easier to return if there are any problems. Would love to compare mine to an SX 62 P Bass and nail this one for good. I am not touching it until it has been to the NW Bass Bash so anyone attending can evaluate it in its delivered state. After that on with a Wizard Thumper and Gotoh Bridge and away we go.
 19. Looks like Mike Walsh will have my new lightweight 1x12's finished and delivered this week, so will bring one along to evaluate against the Omni's. Will also bring "Marvin", (the Carvin BB75 with Marleax neck) and the No Name P Bass that is the bassis for a project.

I also play drums so I will be up for jamming some grooves if any of you fancy it.
Hi Chris. Any chance of a postcode so i can blame the Sat Nav if I get lost, (instead of Mrs BB blaming me.......)
