2. Most excellently tight band Clarky - it's got a unique vibe - not sure if you said but is there a digital download? Those fingers are quite dextrous for a 50 something
3. Excellent five string bass, hand made in England, I think it dates from early 90's, three pickups in the sweet spot, one of them is a dummy coil so it acts like a humbucker both passive/active options with bass/treb eq 34inch scale, 18mm string spacing graphite re-inforced neck I bought this recently from BBass, it's a great bass, but got something else I really wanted to buy, so it needs to go. Pick up in Coventry, or will drive a reasonable distance to meet, or will post at buyer's cost with bass very well packed.

5. Small bar in Rugby called London's Calling. Very hot. Steps down to cellar to store flights cases etc, steps back up. Get the picture? We stepped in to replace a Buzzcocks tribute band. Very last minute so not exactly what people were expecting. Played an hour's set of soundscapey all original progressive rock sounds which worked in some parts with the audience and not in others. Came off thinking it was 'one of them', but the gaffer asked us to do another 20 minutes - probs wanted his money's worth We decided to christen our newest tune, a 20 minute semi-improvised classic called 'He Is The King Of The Tenuous Link' :PGot the best reception of the night. Perhaps we'd convinced them by then that we really weren't a Buzzcocks tribute band. Gigged a 5 string for the first time - altho realised just adapting songs written on a 4 string is a bit pointless. Need to use it from scratch on new stuff and incorporate it that way. Liverpool tonight at The Lomax.
6. Bryan is a top man! I bought a bass completely with his trust in me - as I was driving back from the South West and passing his manor, he was happy for me to pop in - take the bass, and pay him via Paypal later. What a pleasure to deal with, (and of course I paid him!! ) Thanks Bryan
7. bump - have some attractive ticket incentives don'tcha know
8. Notice Keef plays right up over the neck most of the time
9. where are you based dude?
10. Thanks Clarky - grateful for the plug. Agreed on all counts.
11. You can hear my fretted Pro on track four of my band's ep here: thoseamongstusarewolves.bandcamp.com (also why not purchase a download now you know where it is) Pick up setting selection is in Series, DI to desk, and then re-amped through TC rig No idea if that's a 'typical' Wal sound, but it's beefy and growly.
12. This is a used Made in Mexico Fender P bass - it's from the California series they did some years ago. Altho there is some snobbery, there are some excellent instruments made outside the US. This is one of them. It has a sweet and straight neck with no sharp fret edges. All the wiring works good and it has a Seymour Duncan quarter pounder pick up in it - which is a result! It's great for rocking out, or softer stuff. It sounds both thumpy, as a P does, but you also can play nice grooves on it. The headstock decal is not original to spec, as the previous decal was damaged. Please note, I DON'T mean damage to the headstock, just the decal - where a previous owner had scratched away at it. A fetching mint green against a white pickguard makes it a handsome thing You are welcome to come and try it out. Will post at buyer's cost. Edited to add SD pick up info.
13. Hello all Post rock goodliness, as recommended by other BCers here: http://basschat.co.u..._1#entry2080089 Here is a link to the gig. http://www.hotvox.co...t-us-are-wolves
14. The abridged version : Situationists believed that advanced capitalism bred dissatisfaction and thus human desire needed to be fulfilled by finding alternatives to capitalist society. They suggested for this the construction of situations, through the avant-garde, art, psychogeography and urbanism"...and music I guess I'm just saying. Dunno I'm that convinced
15. A socio-political angle also perhaps. Aside from its obvious DIY three chord attack on indulgence, complacency and bandstanding, punk has often been connected to the Situationists movement. See here for Situationism http://louderthanwar.com/situationism-explained-affect-punk-pop-culture/
16. What makes you think it's been overhauled? Do you mean altered, re-finished, in some way?
17. Okay listen up, so Channel 4's Hollyoaks is the new epi centre of cutting edge post rock soundtracking. The first track of my band's new ep http://thoseamongstu...s.bandcamp.com/ was used in tonight's opening sequence.
18. A quicky - (ooh er )....Am I right to assume that the Badass suits a Fender P as a direct replacement? Don't know why, but I've only ever seen them on Jazz basses #Sheltered life? Thanks

20. I always have a post gig snack ritual - on the drive home, load up with crisps, chocs, radio on, and scoff out. Me time Is that one of the jazzes made with the all inone pick guard as opposed to the seperate pickguard/chrome control panel?

22. I believe Nordstrand's are pretty much a direct replacement? Have seen a few 55-01's on the forum modded with with Big Splits, or were they Big Singles ? Have a look at their site http://www.nordstrandpickups.com/bass-pickups/index.shtml
