1. Yes as Clarky says the Realist is an acceptable option to the Full circle. Some people have had good success with the Rev solo too. I remember getting good results with a Shadow pick up many years ago. I wedged the pick up into the bridge wings with cardboard. Been using the FC for quite a few years now and it meets all my requirements. If the band on stage sound is so loud that it gives me problems with my own set up then I don't really want to play with them. You don't say what type of music\band you will be playing with. Could make a difference to your choice.
2. Hi Clarky would you be interested in trading against a good bow?
3.
About a year ago, I left my double bass in the dining room with my 2 year old son......the neck is no longer attached to the body....
Aagh that hurts... had a sax player turn to my gig with an empty case. In a previous life when I played the Trom I left it lying in the middle of the road after playing in a marching band and didn't realise it was missing till the next day when I opened the case and ...there it was....GONE!
4. Recently been trying to play with the fingers pointing down but I seem to creep into the habit of perpendicular fingers as the gig progresses and certainly for long multi chorus fast walking passages and almost all solos. Will keep practicing but not going to beat myself up about it. No one in the bandstand gives a monkey's one way or the other.
5. Hi Bass bloke Just wondering if you ever got into the world of Double bass?
6. I'm with Zero9 . Spiro Weichs great for jazz and bow pretty good too. You might want to put a mittle E on the bottom
7.
- that if I persevere I'll have a very good instrument to play that should sound beautiful.
Persevere!
8. Would be worth checking it out . It'll cost you nothing (other than fuel) to try it out.
9. Sorry to hear about your bass. Both Fitz and Tom B are excellent. Pm me for phone numbers.

11. +1 for the Full circle. I tried the Rev solo , the underwood and shadow. The Full circle worked best for me. No feedback issues and a quality sound even when fed to FOH. However your bass may favour a different set up. Try before you buy if you have that luxury.
12. Hey ChrisF Hope I didn't insult you re my comment. No offence intended. So who's this rockabilly bassist that I have to see? ha ha
13. Well that's the 64million dollar question. I'm finally at the stage where I think that I definitely should not be buying sight unseen. I've no doubt that a fully carved La Scala would be a superb bass. This bass is so ergonomically designed it seems a perfect fit for my small frame. I originally wanted something that I could use for a diploma and now find that this is a lovely jazz bass too. The only downside is it's a little heavy.
14. Check out those ribs.
15. Looking very like it Geoff. Can't stop smiling everytime I play. Just have to rob a bank !
16. Hi Got this bass on try out from Tom Barret in Galway. It's made by an Oregon based Luthier called Seth Kimmel. She sure is 'purdy'. She sings purdy good too.!
17. nice looking bass. Good luck with it!
18. Good luck! Be patient you are on a long arduous journey. If you find you have a problem being heard don't try to overcompensate by "digging in" you'll have a lot of pain in the morning. Try and enjoy every note you play.
19. I just say leave everything flat or perhaps roll a little of the bass off if needed. Most times I have no complaints. I take a di out of an A I Focus. I usually fix the 'gain' at around 5-7 and use the Master to balance with the on stage instruments.
20. Nice looking bass . Congratulations and keep us posted on your progress with the new baby.
