I can't get enough of the new Puscifer album at the moment, 'Conditions Of My Parole': http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_G5BNRnJiLw&feature=player_embedded You may recognise the singer....although if you do, you'll probably already know about Puscifer Si

See I don't think Groove can be defined or quantified personally, different people feel different things. To me, this grooves like an absolute biz-nitch...yet there's no discernible bass part, and the drums are programmed: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_G5BNRnJiLw Noice Si

You can of course downtune like that, but E down to C will generally sound pants IMO, any low frequesncy will probably just choke out through sloppy action, you won't gain anything over simply playing a standard octave C on the E string (8th fret), that generally sounds pretty fatter compared to a C on the A string (3rd fret). Again, considering it's for one song, I'd just get an Octave pedal, which is easily implemented into other songs too. Si

I spent four years in a touring band playing in Drop C standard (what you're talking about), I had two basses setup specifically in that tuning, with higher tension strings so i did have high action and sloppy strings etc. This is obviously a bit above what you require, If you don't want to restring your 5er, I'd just get an octave pedal (always useable, so not a waste of cash in my eyes) and play it in standard tuning.
Does he not approve of blue jokes then?
I've no idea buddy....I'm out of steam...I'm going to sleep listening to Puscifer. I'm out lol Si
Erm - I think we have to call them 'vocal backing artistes' these days...
There's a 'Greater Tit' joke there somewhere, but Wooten wouldn't approve! Si

I'm not sure it goes deeper than that for me....It's not a deep act on my behalf, it's not something I have to think about. It's something that brings me happiness because it allows me to achieve a little better those elements I listed, they should be a big part of everyones life. Why it is through a musical means and not another means I can't explain....I suspect that the mystery is part of the allure Si
TBH, the loss of finances and time was the source of my misery
Ah money ruins art once more Si
I have too. It invariably leads to misery and disappointment, and time and financial loss, as you attempt to repoint your brickwork with dogshit.
Perhaps your approach is off? Is it not true that at the very least.....you learn how you don't like something to be?!, and as such, feel appreciative that someone else's journey (that you don't like) has enabled you to learn something about yourself.
That human's 'nature' adapts to the environment or is otherwise swallowed up by the environment or those others competing for the same resources.
For another thread methinks . So what have we learned today? lol Si
No. He's a c*nt.
You're faking 'discussion' because of the context (environment?!) of this thread Si
Isn't Mark King wonderful !!!!!!!!
:-D Precisely No such thing as human nature imo, only environment Si
-
Of course discussion it's wonderful.....but I do have to say that it's always strange to me having a discussion arise from a negative ("I don't like this") as opposed to a positive ("Isn't this great"). Although what is said in each instance is often very similar, one usually holds a much cooler vibe than the other Si

Indeed, always listen to things you don't like....You'll always learn something Si
It's mostly the distance between articulation and retrospection that matters though.
Well of course (If you mean what I think you mean), some people can't release a single song or album in their life no matter how long they're at it because they despise what they are creating straight away, they're constantly re-evaluating it. I'd suggest that often (not always), it's their motivation that is affecting their output, not their articulation. Si
-
I've not met, nor read of, a musician that likes everything they do. To me, it seems like it's the quest that's so rarely achieved, and when it is, most of what generated that feeling doesn't last very long. And thank f*** for that.
I'd argue that most artists love what they do at the time, it's only retrospectively that they may re-evaluate the output, and that is often after they realise their motivation wasn't quite right at the time. Si

Well, I suppose I can't know that for sure obviously But he certainly strikes me as the kind of human/musician that only pursues things that he loves, of course that is my own opinion of him. I know a few people who love what they do, because it's not in their programming to pursue anything else, fame, glory, success etc, which dilutes your art. Some people luck out with that formula, but those that don't.....don't care, because they're happy with what they do Si
-
Well VW likes what VW does, so thats all that matters Si
-
We're certainly not suggesting that the musical aspect of VW (any any other slapper) isn't subjective, but it was suggested earlier that what he is doing is 'random' or just punching his bass.....when of course it isn't. It's carefully selected technique applied with skill and plenty of study, that you don't click with the same aspect of the music that he does isn't out of the ordinary. But yes, instead of tarring him with one brush, dig deeper and find out what he's about, not just what the masses latch onto Si

Usually they'll go for anything between £450-£650, depends on condition, the actual model, things like that. If everything is mint and all the 'case-candy', good condition case etc etc, probably closer to the £650 perhaps. If it's got a battered case and there's scratches and dings on the bass, closer to the £450 mark. Si
