1. Awesome pedals!! Si
  2. Impressive, sounds like Jon's got his times down. Although, from a construction point of view, guessing the 'Fender' builds are fairly quick. Can't wait to hear clips Si
  3. What was the wait on it? Looks great btw Si
  4. Lovely looking bass, was tempted very briefly! Si
  5. Yep, surprised it got the go ahead actually. TC Group supplies chips and drivers to a number of MI companies. Will be interesting to see how it plays out. Si
  6. Oh man, that Sherwood Green P/J is going to be amazing......pics asap please I'd definitely consider a P/J (Precision body not Jazz body) in the same colour, that would be stunning! Si

Yeah sounds fantastic! I did a little demo of one on bass here: https://soundcloud.com/simonpoulton/eterna-mangler Si
  8.
I have to jump in here to defend the accusations Behringer use slave labour. Behringer run a company city in China, cleverly named 'Behringer City' where the staff get free medical care, have access to good quality living accommodation, libraries, public parks and schools for their children. They are paid a reasonable wage for Chinese standards and by all accounts live a nice life.
Sounds great, I'm certain they can afford it though seeing as their offices in Germany probably equate to one room which houses a photocopier Si
  9. Hey all, Thought I'd pop my DOD Envelope Filter up for sale. These are very similar to the FX-25, however with a better footswitch, better power socket & a clean blend control. I actually really love this pedal, I purchased it as a backup to my MXR, and it sounds sweet, but you will read that they have a slight gain drop, which for me made it difficult live. I'd say that this is more of a studio pedal, or perhaps you can make it work for you live. Killer sound though, goes really subby if you want. Paid £40 + postage, so £40 + £5 postage please Trades always welcome Cheers Si
  10. DHA still available type bump Si
  11. Yes I gig my '71 Precision anywhere, I may be a bit more choosey about taking out the MGS, however I want it to become my first instrument......that doesn't happen unless you play it ALL the time, need to know every little thing about it. I've never really practiced on my P-bass, it feels more like a 'gigging' bass if that makes sense, always practiced on a jazz when I had one or my P/J more recently. I've only been practising on the Fodera since I've had it, already starting to get used to having a High C again. Already on the insurance Si
  12.
We also don't see them taking the overground to Deptford at 11:30 at night with a gig bag.
Haha, you know what I mean . Last time I saw Janek he didn't have a guitar stand, just leaning the bass against his amp. If course somewhere like Ronnie's you're not getting the kind of clientele at a piss-up pub on a Friday....but you choose your gigs . The Richard Bona documentary see' shin walking around New York in the snow with his Fodera in a (good) soft case, hailing taxis etc. Pretty normal Si
  13.
I'm in. Might be able to pull 2 non BC member bass friends along too if it is allowed.
Definitely allowed! Si
  14. Reductions, DHA & Bi-Fet still available. Would take an MXR Envelope Filter in trade Si
  15. Yeah I just use a scarf underneath my Littlemark II lol Si
i agree totally got say hi to her, Ben and the bassist which was cool, also had to make sure i shock Brians hand! any know what the larger silver pedal is in the middle? andy
Is she lovely? :-P lol Si
  17. I won't lie, it's always a bit daunting taking a 'new' bass out, especially something like this, I guess that's why I like my old P-bass.....it was already knocked around. Obviously I'll be extra supreme careful with it, but at the end of the day, it's a tool, simply an instrument which is to be used. I know they can afford it a bit better, but we don't see Victor, Richard Bona or Janek being overly careful with theirs, because they're only worried about what music is coming out. Easier said than done when it's a few days old, but I imagine I'll get there Si
  18.
So does this mean the end of bass GAS..?
I can't imagine I could ever need anything else other than this and my P-bass. Even my PJ only really gets used if I have a rough gig where I don't fancy taking the Precision. My plan is to use the Fodera most of the time, including all practice, however there are obviously some gigs which only ever want a Precision (one band leader in particular lol). Si

    Brian Cook...

Asked Brian about his board for this tour and he was kind enough to send this over: Also, it seems the Big Bottom is still very much part of the rig, but it broke in Austria! :-/ Si

    Brian Cook...

I think he may have taken out the blender and simply starting using the foot-pedals for subbier sounds. Saw them in London on Monday, solid as always! I also think I may be in live with Helms Alees drummer :-P Si
  21.
Congratulations - single cut really isn't for me but there's no denying it's a quality looking bass.
If you mean from a visual point of view, fair enough . If perhaps you mean from a playing point of view, the way the neck heal is built you really don't notice it at all (unless you hang your thumb over the fingerboard a lot). Neck heal photos pending
So let me get this straight, you bought a very expensive bass and your Mrs is still smiling...
She's smiling because there's now more room and less gear in the flat haha Si
  22.
Congratulations! I'm right in thinking you didn't buy the first one you saw in Bass Gear, but ordered a new build?
I would have purchased the one I tried, but it was already reserved for someone who picked it up a few weeks later, as a result I ordered a new build, which leads on to........
Nice one simon its a beaut! Any custom tweaks or stock MG?
.....it's a stock MGS, you can't change any of the specs of the Standard series, which suits me as the series 1 I tried (this is a series 2), was brilliant. The spec in terms of measurements and electronics is exactly the same between the two series, just the wood combinations that differ.
Congrats man!! This comment seems to be what a lot of people say about Foderas when talking about them. They are all good but how can they be worth THAT much.... and then you try THE ONE and you must have it and it is definitely worth it. I completely love my ACG and can't see how anything could be that much better than it.
Exactly, I certainly wouldn't ever suggest that Fodera are THE BEST because they're expensive, it just so happened that this bass spoke to me and it was a Fodera. I was lucky to be able to fund it purely by selling gear that I had purchased over a number of years. Nothing better than having a massive clear-out, and having something awesome at the end of it *Edit* - got the start post photos around the right way. Cheers Si
  23. So a little while ago I took a trip to Bass Gear in order to buy a Mono case for my 33" ACG 5 (high c). I took the ACG along, and whilst there decided to try some basses.....as you do. Now like most people, I have previously played some Foderas, and they haven't really 'spoken' to me. However on that day I picked up a Matt Garrison Standard, a 33" 5 tuned E-C, essentially the same basic spec as my ACG. The difference is that the Fodera blew the ACG out of the water....... Here I feel that I must state that ACG instruments are superb, and the Finn SC that I had was excellent, but on this occasion, the Fodera, to me, felt in a different class. I am certain many people have said that of ACGs about other boutique brands....... In any case, trying the MGS threw me, I never expected to genuinely feel that a bass was worth that kind of money, but here it was. I set myself a challenge, could I raise the funds by selling only musical gear that I had acquired over the years?! The answer, perhaps worryingly, was yes. By culling basses, amps and pedals that I rarely (if ever) played, I raised the full amount and so ordered the MGS. So, here it is, yes I will take more pictures as I get time, the grain on the top is beautiful, all sorted in there! My happy face at Bass Gear this afternoon: And this is from when myself and the mrs recently took a trip to New York (on holiday), and happened to be able to visit Fodera and the bass in it's pre-hardware state, around a week before it shipped: Lots to get used to again after not having a high C bass for a few months, more photos to take of great grain etc, but all in all very happy! . Alongside my '71 Precision, I intend for this to be my equal 'main' bass. I also consider it very much a study bass, with the high c allowing me to further explore chords and deeper harmony that a 4 allows. I have a P/J backup to my P, and I think I'll probably end up selling my Yamaha BB615, so I'll be down to 3 basses Fodera are also technically my 'year of birth' builder, starting in 1983.....if you're I to that kinda thing Si
  24. The Fender S1 switch was a push button in the end of the volume control, it switched the two pickups from parallel to series, so effectively treated both pickups as one, rather spaced out, Precision pickup. I had a Fender Jazz with the S1 and almost exclusively played it in series mode, also has the benefit of one volume control (the bridge pickup volume becomes redundant in series). So, you can either hard-wire a Jazz in series, or wire a switch in that gives you the option to go back to parallel. Si
  25. Glad you're all enjoying it Si // Focusrite
