1. Many thanks all, it went brilliantly, without a hitch ironically. Now, back to tube preamp Di pedals Si
2. I'd stick with the VB-2, the Wazacraft one if you don't want to pay for an original. Si
3.
Gone back to a dual amp set up. PDF2 and noble into bass amp and POG and EQD Acupulco gold clone into guitar amp
Ah the Trooper Boost still going strong? Si
4. Fantastic, great job all involved! Love the finish too! Makes me hanker to start a solid brown bass project lol Si
5. These look very interesting! When is the pre-order discount offer running to? Getting married tomorrow......and as you can imagine, bank account has taken a hit :-P Cheers Si
6. It infuriates me when you get the atypical 'why is that guitarist playing a bass', or similar, type comments. Makes me want to ask why that person isn't playing their bass lines on a tuba! Same difference. It's his music, he wrote it to play, he plays the bass guitar, get over it. For the record, I didn't like the music. Great player(s) though! Si
7. Yeah really odd to hear of the COG issues, mine has always been excellent, but then I've had years of teasing the best out of my OC-2s. I've had people at Bass bashes surprised at hearing me get an OC-2 track down to a low F#.....you just gotta know how lol. Not really heard the Eventides, but it's interesting to hear the comment above about preferring the POG/Digitech upper octave. The POG is fine, but the Line6 M range pitching is far and above my fave. It's low octave is incredibly natural too. So much so that I set up a bunch of patches that dropped my sound a semi-tone per patch, with no dry signal. Have gigged that in Eb for example (because the guitarist for that band tuned down) without anyone noticing I had a pedal on! So for synthy analogue vibes: OC-2 or COG For digital / higher octave: Line6 M range Si
8. I regularly gig my '71 Precision (although not Pre-CBS, still a £3000 bass by dealers prices). I have a friend who has a LOT of vintage guitars, from 50's Teles & Strats, to 50's Gibsons, some old Gretches etc. He gigs them all regularly, isn't afraid to take them out. Si
9. Watching with interest!! Si
10. Tried them at NAMM this past Jan and they're great. Chris is a lovely guy, and they're really well made! The one I tried had a Micro-POG built into it (switchable of course), not too sure about that....there are much better Octave pedals, but still, nice instrument! Si
11. Ooo, first 335's I've seen in a long time! I had two trans purple ones back in the day, one fretted, one fretless. Really great basses for the money! GLWTS Si
12. I don't recall white pearloid being available before the 90's other than on Mustangs (as mentioned above), could be wrong though. Si
13.
Extra £60 for Gold Top
Maths Shmaths . Still worth it over the Cherryburst! Si
14. No reply from Paul and Lull about SG basses (think my message feel into his 'other' inbox on Facebook). That said, I've since learned that Gibson have successfully trademarked a number of body shapes, including the SG, so definitly no production SGs from other companies. Not sure how that works for custom builders, I notice Jaydee does an SG signature copy and have said they'd do a bass if asked. Guess I'd have to look for a second hand EB3 short scale for my Dark Star project, maybe an old Tokai. Si
15. It's all about the Goldtop for an extra £40 Si
16.
What a piece of junk!
One for the fans that 😂 Si
17. I'm all for consolidating loads of basses down into a few excellent ones of the same value Si
18. Blimey....that's a good $1000 more expensive than most US Laklands, and approaching Fodera pricing! Hope you like it To be fair, this is exactly what I did in order to order my old Fodera MGS, sold a bunch of stuff I didn't use, paid for it in full (which was both excellent and depressing haha), didn't regret it Si
19. Solid interface choice Si
20. I say this a lot on a number of threads, but it's because it's true......If you think there aren't any original bands, then you're not looking hard enough. There's an incredible amount of original music that is interesting, passionate and isn't trying to copy the past, you just have to invest in some time to search it out amongst all the other noise. We're not in the 70s or 80s anymore, cool bands don't just appear on TV and the mainstream radio every day, but they're still out there touring and working ridiculously hard. Also remember that melody is restrictive, there's only so many notes, but it's the context in which it sits that makes it unique, one melody over one set of chords will sound completely different over a different set of chords. So maybe you're right, melodies over G, C, D do sound derivative nowadays, maybe it's your brain crying out for something more harmonically complex, who knows. Maybe we should make some suggestions. I would say go and listen to Bent Knee, perhaps the song Land Animal.....and genuinely listen to the whole track: https://www.youtube....h?v=ocn0gkJ2sMY Si p.s. I play covers and originals, I too don't really make a distinction, but I'm lucky to play in a covers band that has that outlook. We do our own thing and have fun with it.

There's a thread on here already about them, try doing a search and it should come up, there are some owners here. I thought they were custom orders, so may not have a large stock for you to browse and buy. Si
23.
Did the OP really mean to write thugs in the title?
Probably: No Everyone hopes: Yes Si
24. I agree with the above point on RAM, I'd also say 8gb at the very least And if you're looking to really go to town on the 16 channels of audio you mention (i.e. lots of processing and plugins etc.....you might not think you will now, but it's a slippery slope), then 16gb plus! Si
25. No it doesn't effect tuning as long as you put it past the nut when you choose to tune, that's as easy as moving your hand down the neck. And quite right, it's about control, and this affords even more control . Everyone knows they're not 'on' all the time right?! You just shift them up and down as needed. But as with any gear, it should be used as an addition to your technique, never a substitute! Si
