  1. I had it in my head that it wasn't the original finish, and so filling the pickup routs and respraying would potentially be on the cards......clearly it's not haha. Going for a Nick Campbell Musicmaster vibe? @ped? Si
  2. Sorry, to be clear.....the plan is to put it back to the original spec? 🤞 Si
  3. They were the last Harley Benton's basically, before them it was SX (although mainly in the US). And so the world turns Si
  4. Yeah just Google and images of old packaging doing you dirty. The image to the left is their new packaging. They only do one guage of LTF's as well, so all you have to do it pick 4 or 5 string....nice and easy haha. Cheers Si
  5. Where are you looking? La Bella only sell one 'type' of Low Tension flats: https://www.labella.com/product/ltf-4a/ Almost certainly just a difference in wording/ old packaging or similar. Si
  6. How do people feel about P/J vs soapbars on 4 string Spectors? Not really talking tonally, more physical feel, while playing (probably more for finger players that question). Si
  7. Here’s my Ibanez SR300E in Iron Pewter (a kind of metallic dark blue/grey). Was bought for a project that never happened, so aside from some super light playing at home (to learn some tunes), the bass is completely mint. Comes with a very simple bag/cover, and so I wouldn’t want to post. I’m in the high Wycombe area. Any questions, let me know. No trades. Cheers Si
  8. Yeah, have spotted that one, weight and added pickup would be a no from me. I’m only lightly looking really, unlikely I’ll have the funds for a while haha. Si
  9. Apart from the obvious changes of the bridge, scratchplate and abominable tuners, what's the rest looking like to people? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/325410992171?mkevt=1&mkcid=1&mkrid=710-53481-19255-0&campid=5338365712&toolid=20006&customid=EB80781363& Si
  10. Long-shot, but anyone in South Bucks (High Wycombe way) have a Spector Euro or Rebop 4 string? I’d love to try one out!

Slightly down-market, but I have a Spector Performer (Indonesian) for £200; I'm in Bracknell.

Alternatively @NancyJohnson was looking at selling a more upmarket model.

@SibobI've got a EuroLT - Barts/Darkglass tone cap.  I'm in Crowthorne, other side of Wokingham.  About ten miles from HW.

Thanks both, not currently looking to purchase (I don’t think), just give one a go.

  11. Did anyone just pick up that 1978 natural Precision from Andy Baxter? Looked like a really decent one!

  12. Just realised that I'm 5 months in to a 2022 abstinence....quite accidentally actually haha. Last purchase was a Sansamp back at the end of May. I would have bought loads in that time tbf......but life has deemed otherwise. Si
  13. Yeah, horrendously overpriced. Great player, great basses in their original form.....but this has been mistreated and so isn't even what I'd call 'player-grade' at this point. You'd probably want to spend a couple of grand stripping it all back completely and refinishing it to period correct.....which is fine....but the price does not reflect that work whatsoever! They're relying on a jazz aficionado weekend warrior who has made their money elsewhere in the world.......and that is a niche crowd indeed. Si
  14. I would have loved to pick up a T-16 from this batch, but just at the wrong time for me. Inshall definitely be looking out for those skimmed down T-47’s though! Very excited for those! Si
  15. It's a solid update from Boss I think, I had the SL-20 for a bit, years ago and it was fun. I have no real use for one anymore, but if I did, this new format is winning. Si
  16. Yes, and the ‘real’ NJS5 I bought after selling the EVO5 is also a killer bass, still with me and currently recording another song on Jocee’s new album. Bearing in mind that I’m a fairly dyed-in-the-wool Precision style lover, it’s as a surprise to me as it might be to you that I still have it around….wonderful ‘super’ Jazz bass, a joy to play and sounds fantastic (all US Bartolini in this case). As such, I imagine that the Cort Elricks are great too, I’d like to try a 4 string at some point! Si
  17. Just buy a stock Lakland 55-01, that’s what he’s played the most over the years haha. Si
  18. Hi all, Promising update from Tom on Facebook today. For those without ‘the book’: “TL:DR - a small batch of T-16 Octaves have been added to the webstore with more to be added ASAP, some other things are changing at Cog too ------ Hello all, First up I want to let you know there are some T-16s available at www.cogeffects.co.uk/shop Second, I just want to confirm that Cog Effects is still a thing, I'm making pedals and plan to do so for the foreseeable, but I need to make some changes to make it sustainable both financially and for my own health. It's no secret that I haven't added stock to the website for some time. The main reason for this is an absolute slump in my own mental health in recent years due to a combination of factors both in and out of my control that I either hadn't or couldn't effectively deal with and, to be brutally honest, this spiralled and I almost completely shut down. This has affected my personal life, physical and mental wellbeing, relationships, and of course Cog Effects. Over recent months, and with the support of people I am grateful to have in my life, I've begun to get to grips with many of these issues so I can start moving forward again. This will have some practical changes for Cog, which I will begin to outline below. The largest issue I have faced with Cog is having too many metaphorical balls in the air, which has been detrimental both to the level of service I have been able to offer and to my own wellbeing, and the changes I plan to make will be to help limit this. 1. The product range will be more streamlined. This will mean some pedals are retired, either temporarily or permanently. When new pedals are added this may then result in older ones being retired, again either temporarily or permanently. 2. New pedals will be less focused on earlier Cog designs, and more on aspects of effects that particularly interest me - primarily octave effects, modulation and signal routing. 3. Standard pedals will be simpler and more stripped back in appearance. 4. Pedals will be available to purchase only when they are in stock and ready to post. 5. I will have dedicated times set aside when I will handle correspondence, and plan to limit contact just to email (as opposed to social media messages as well) so I can stay on top of it better. You can get me on [email protected] My aim with Cog Effects is to keep it simple, and to build products that I personally find interesting or inspiring for as long as enough other people also find them appealing enough to keep this financially viable. I have no aspirations for major outsourcing or sitting in an office while other people do the work or anything like that, and while I understand that such a choice will no doubt limit what I am able to offer/achieve in the future I'm also aware that because of how my brain works these changes will allow me to keep on top of things more easily. Finally, mental health is some proper serious stinky poo. We all need to look out for those around us and step up for each other when things go sideways. Asking for help is not always easy, even when there are people who we know would want to help. Every single one of us has the ability to be a light in the darkness for someone else, reaching out can make a difference. Tom x“
  19. Wait, so is it £8600 as you state? Or £6454 (the current currency conversion of €7500)? Si
  20. Yeah the player series is great for the money! But definitely wants a tort guard, I have never known why ANY manufacturer makes sunburst basses with white pickguards. Heresy! Si
  21. ....what have you found? I'm potentially looking to swap out a Boss pedal for an MXR pedal. As my board is setup at the moment, the boss pedal is taller than the pedals either side, so there can be some overlap in their inputs/outputs. However the MXR is exactly the same height, so if it's to work as a straight swap, I need the jacks to sit next to each other.....gonna need something pretty thin to make it fit I think. Cheers Si
  22. Serek Midwestern in Walnut: Si
  23. Yeah this was on my radar as the spec I’d love! I enquired about it a while ago (before other life events took me out of the purchasing market), but it came up too heavy at 4.6kg. Si
  24. It doesn’t quite look it in your photo, but if you’re mentioning ‘metallic’, they did do a Pearl White. My previously mentioned early 90’s Encore (long gone) was Pearl White, and I recently found an analogue photo of it in its original, stock state: Si
