1. Yep, can't see this either, speakers would struggle first, IMO, but then the bass is the last thing to go thru a P.A, IME. Depends on your P.A as well, in that regard
2. We provide posters if asked so we wouldn't be impressed if they didn't put them up. We post them at least a week before hand but we also expect them to market their evenings as well.
3. I just think you should just play if you want to play...everything else will flow from that. If you want to learn theory do that... but music is something to be followed and not plotted out so much..IMV
4.
I think owners of studios get fed up with the way bands treat the places so they go downhill. An old mate of mine opened a rehearsal complex and swore he would keep it to a high standard. After 12 months it was a dump. He said he was fed up of replacing blown amps, broken mics and cleaning up fag ash and food. He simply could not afford to keep replacing things. We rehearse at a studio that is not advertised. We were lucky to be asked there and this owner selects the bands he wants to use it.
This is the way to do it..... and you can apply the same method to the gigs you play...IMO
5. Have a look at this from 15:30. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7jFLg3hrmAM Not a fan of his sound or feel, tbh... but the technique is there and well explained/demonstrated.
6.
You OK down there or do you need a step ladder?
Is it all clear now?
7. I find road worn basses very funny. I can see why you'd use one if you'd had it years and it had gotten that way.... but can't for the life of me work out why you buy one new like it... Hilarious...
8. Everyone I talked to really rates them, but since they are so modular, it is hard to know what they actually are using. But for what we had, in a very loud setting, with kick, keys and gtr bleeds, we had very positive feedback from people who know how we normally sound. I am sure we can double up the rig to demo it, ie 4 bins and 8 tops... which should be around 2400w... but that is a LOT of money. I think plenty of bands could use the Band 1 rig but for a marquee, you may need to spend a bit more..?? What have you ordered?
9. nothing wrong with being grabbed by a hottie 45-50... but....................... I'll stop digging, I think
10. ha ha ....worse than I thought... I thought you were going to say 45-50..!!!
11. Well, historically Eden at one time was THE gear to use along with SWR when they were both U.S built. We might be talking about 20 years ago for their true hey-day but you'll still see it as it was generally hi-spec and quality components ... and you'll pay a fortune for that that if you brought it today. That is cheap...but it will be heavy..as properly made cabs in baltic/marine ply often are. One thing... I am not sure who made the speakers or rather can you get them replaced now. You probably can't unless you can source cones so you need to make sure the speakers are all good. This applies to all speakers out of production regqardless of make ...where do you get the cones kits from?
12. I love Eden and have used it from time to time. A bass player of mine used to bail me out and lend me his big Eden rig. Funnily enough his sister said that she needs to sell it after he died a few years back so I will probably fire it up and put it up for sale here for her. Very good spec gear of yesterday and as much as Trace Elliot stuff is regarded..this is a step up in pro quality as far as I am concerned.
13. Sounds about right so that is why it might run out of juice anywhere much bigger. I would say that would be good for about 100 people in a average pub floor space and maybe you could get more mileage if you used decent backline. So, expensive band for buck...but very good bang by all accounts and then if you need to go bigger, the cost and space element kick in... but then it would do so with other P.A's with bins anyway
14. How old..??? and I think we need to hear more of this 'story'

Nice !

yep, waaaaaaay too intense. You put stuff up and then seem to get upset if people don't fully subscribe. I wouldn't myeself want you to stop posting the links, but It's banter... no one has to agree with everybody to get along... lighten up...
16. Well, resounding success. We use 4 tops and 2 10" bins. This size and weight of the thing was incredible as it fits in the boot of cars. Very pokey against the band last night... and the fedback killer is good as well... I remain wary of how well this can cope when you think about scaling it up...but a few regulars commented on the sound and this is an area we do well at anyway, with the QSC's and so any positive coomenst augurs very well indeed. http://www.reidys.com/pr/pa-systems/hk-audio-elements-acoustic-one-stereo-system-11779/?&utm_source=GoogleBase&utm_medium=Feed&utm_campaign=PriceComparison&gclid=CPDFmNSpqL0CFe3ItAodijwALQ.. I make that 1800w..??? The singer was very sure it was better than our KW12' P.A...but I can't say as I never heard it out front in context. The QSC with bins is 4k on paper...yeah, I know..and £3.5k plus... so if you put the same money into the elements system, you have a super light and compact and very capable P.A...
17.
apart from LowDown. is everyone missing my point.? the difference between the two vids..?
Not really, you like it, I don't..I said I'd leave both takes out....
18. Really rather good... and rather welcome as things haven't been as good they should have been through a lot of things outside the actual playing side. New gtr and drums settling in..and the band can now obviously go up a level. Still, things not perfect but at this point, not a real problem as the energy and power is working. So, yes, enoying it
19. This subject fascinates me in as far as there can be no rhyme or reason why some bands work and get what they get and others don't...it is almost a science in itself. We've found few cut-offs points to the people that enquire... We only ever play 2 hrs max.. Pubs...well, you just have to pick ones you'd go to yourself and we find many of our 'crowd' just will not go to a certain pub, but since it has a good following and we like the LL..altho not what he wants to pay, so much. He calls us one of his best draws but has a pay limit which most bands probably hit... ...hmmm.... Parties...friends want to pay £500.. that is pay back time..and time to support people who support you. Normal parties at same sort of money .. you might do them if you aren't so busy at that time...plus if they have a fun factor, that gets past the money thing, sometimes. Treat as a loss leader as per pubs... but this tends to go round in circles as they know and want the same rate as their friends... be pragmatic here. Normal parties... £750 upwards depending how much they are investing, marquee, catering etc etc..the entertainment ( us) is a small addition typically. Nice parties and weddings, are £950 plus any sort of extras..like set-up and wait times, xtra P.a and lights..not to mention travel and petrol etc etc .. We can get £1400 but we have to travel and be out all day.... so you have to decide if the extra £80 each is really worth it and if you have a home life and kids plus a full time job, is it fair to wipe out a whole saturday..??? Weddings and parties at £1500 upwards are the ones that seem to have taken a hit...and I know one very good band that has hardly worked at that level since the New Year and that type of gig is their bread and butter and the ones that earn them a wage per year.

21. no mention of power supply option here..?? review is dated 2012, iirc.... http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2411119,00.asp
22. Maple neck and Rosewood board... for sound, AND looks if blocked and bound.
23. I quite like a weekend off, tbh.... so yes, use it to go and support a band. I hear many people bleat about supporting the live music scene round here but I never EVER see the most vocal ones at our gigs... So, yes, check out some bands... you might pick up something if only things NOT to do. And it always helps if the LL sees you supporting his place...and putting money back in rather than taking it out all the time...
