  1. Limelight #00107 heavy relic precision solid alder body, cream/yellowing pickguard and bridge. Solid black nitro finish. Lightweight 1.48kg on my kitchen scales. Standard fender spec. Mark does superb relic finishes. £325 (sale only, no trades) plus postage.
  2. Adagio flats are fine, but you'll notice a difference when you use more expensive flats, smoother surface, more articulation. @uncle psychosis GHS Precision flatwounds don't have silks at ball end.
  3. This. Without a picture it's hard to tell, but if the saddles are as far back as they go, and you still can't obtain intonation, then the bridge needs to go back further. Saddles should be 34inch from nut, that is if it's 34 scale?
  4. The problem is the frets, if it's a fretless neck then no issue, however the position of frets relate to intonation, by shortening the neck will mean the intonation will always be out, as the position of each fret will be longer if the neck is shortened.
  5. Putting closed covers will make no difference to your sound, you may need to adjust the pickup height though.
  6. All Vintage reissue basses have alnico pickups.
  7. Brand new Ernie Ball group III stainless steel flatwound strings 2806, Made in USA, 45-100 guage. £31 posted.
  8. If you like higher action you'll be fine, TI's are very low tension. If you prefer a low action you're probably going to get a lot of fret buzz.
  9. This is because spb1 and spb2 SD pickups are sterile sounding, no character at all. I wouldn't say they're muddy, they are vintage voiced i.e not designed to have top end, so nothing sacrificed - this is how vintage voiced pickups are.
  10. Price Drop: £155 plus postage 1996 Cort Precision with a cream alder body, off white pickguard and amber tinted solid one piece maple neck. I believe this bass was made in the Samick factory (Korea/Indonesia), very well built. Neck is dead straight, minimal fret wear. Has a Ki0gon wireless harness. In overall good condition for a 25 year old bass, does have marks, scratches and dings, commensurate with age. Perfect working order (truss rod etc). Weighs a lightweight 7.1lbs, 1.75”/44mm nut (same as Fender 50s Roadworn). £220 (sale only, no trades) plus postage, I will package the bass very well.
  11. The player series are very good basses. If you like the classic Fender P bass tone you won't be disappointed. What colour did @uncle psychosis go for?
  12. Strings are the BIGGEST part of the sound of any stringed instrument.
  13. You want Fender pure nickel 7150, vintage tone right out the box (a la old rounds) and high tension.
  14. D'Addario are the only brand who do half wounds. Pressure wounds are pretty much the same, just under a different name. Therefore will sound the same as half wounds. For a string which sounds in-between rounds and flats you want pure nickels.
  15. This is superb advice for any beginner or more experienced player's alike. 😀
  16. DiMarzio model P. Will give you want you're looking for. 😎
