1. With the headphones on you can hear the cough which explains the wayward harmony around 2.29 that stops abruptly.
2. It's great that he is finally recognised for his work when you consider how unknown the band was at the time. An inspiration.
3. Pete I posted a thread on these a couple of weeks ago. It sure does look great. I love the matching headstock. Not sure I like the price so much though.
4. Plus one on the MXR Micro amp. A great pure boost
5.
You should never be asked for feedback until you have received the goods - this should set your alarm bells ringing - check all the safety/fraud stuff on ebay and get an e mail off to them a.s.a.p. Did you use Paypal?
100% agree. Might be genuine but this is not how it works.
6. Missed this thread but right now it's...
7. I'd say £300 too.It doesn't have the kudos of MIJ /CIJ and neither the vintage status (yet).
8. Just spotted this one http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Greco-Fujigen-PMB-80...=item3ca9a4bc32
9.
No one has mentioned what instruments they used, but my Guild B50 doesn't struggle in this sort of situation. Then again, solid spruce top and solid mahogany back and sides, and at 18" across and 7" deep, there's plenty of chamber there to generate volume naturally. As for upright players, most I've seen don't resort to any form of amplification when busking.
I think it depends on the location. We were on a street in Burnham On Sea and the sound was just getting lost. I don't doubt in a covered shopping area the sound would be fine but on a wide street on a windy day the sound is easily lost. Fair point though, some basses do hold up better than others. I had a wide and deep bodied Aria acoustic bass that was really loud.
10. I went busking last year and bass won't cut it on it's own. The sound gets lost in the street. Acoustic basses / upright basses are both great fun but a small battery amp will be required if you want to be there for anything other than the look
11. Marvellous. Just a shame this thread now remains in the public domain with more than a hint of the suggestion that I might be an idiot!
12. (see attached image) Looks like the 4001 / 4003 to me as the majority of Rickenbacker guitars have straighter headstocks but I just wanted to triple check. This is from a cool picture I liked.
13. I prefer 34" scale as 1) it seems to be the standard on most basses and 2) I'm tall so tend to look more comfortable with bigger basses. I've not bought nice looking basses because they have been shorter scale. The Rickenbacker is 33 1/3" but I figure what's 3/4"?
14. Welcome to the forum. My first fretless was an old Vox that had been defretted by the last owner - so it was lined, of sorts. It is a different ball game and I wouldn't immediately associate it with your chosen style of music but as the others have highlighted there are always exceptions. If it is in addition to an existing set up then yes, a serious contender but if you are looking to maybe upgrade what you have then I'd give it some real thought.
15. I really would go with this http://www.guitarguitar.co.uk/bass_guitars...=05040910323118 and you are right, colour is crucial when you are 7. I still find it quite important at 37!
16. For some reason I took this to be your right hand and not your left hand despite you clearly stating so ignore my last post. I haven't mixed up left and right this bad since infant school! Don't know why that happened
17. Sounds to me like you'd be wise to consider medical advice. If the bass is a pig to play, change it. I had a beautiful Jazz bass that gave me shooting pains up my left arm. I got rid of it and have never had a problem since. Are you used to playing reguarly? Do you warm up? It's difficult to know what to say based on what you have said i.e. without seeing your injury and knowing more background
18. Welcome to Basschat - a truely Global site! Feel free to post pictures of those basses
19. Nice one Clarky, missed this thread yesterday - looks great. Fair play to you
20. I do like the Ampeg stuff personally. On the off chance you'd be interested I have a BA115 for sale that is pretty much immaculate. No worries if it's bigger than you need but I thought I'd mention it. Within your budget but no worries if you have other stuff lined up
21. We tried the google calendar and having a Google group for discussions. The group worked better than the calendar but it was a good idea in theory. You have to set a rule to say it's individuals responsible to update or it is a bit pointless. Some members were certainly better than others with it
22. Welcome to Basschat. I'm also an owner of a 135 Bassman head and a Jaguar bass. So I have to admire your taste!
23. I agree - varying that figure more or less according to how quickly you'd want it to sell. Looks good
